I wasn't sure what to do. Should I try to run away?
No... If I do so, he'll notice my footsteps and be aware of my presence.
I briefly looked over my cell room and immediately shook my head.
'No...'
Hiding inside my room would be too risky.
The other cells were locked, it might be suspicious if just mine stayed open.
My eyes caught a big figure, approaching out of the darkness.
I panicked even more. Moving my eyes all around, looking for a solution.
'Should I hide...!? Or run...!? HIDE!? OR RUN!?'
Due to the situation, my thinking and making the right decisions were sluggish.
"...!"
I've got an idea!
Tap...
Tap...
Tap...
A big, muscular man, with scars on his shoulder going down to his hand, wearing a silver mask and a big, spiky hammer in his big hand, approached out of the dark.
He stopped in front of my cell, slowly moved his head to the right while continuously standing in the same spot
But luckily, he wasn't able to see me.
I hung down from the metallic bridge, gripping the metal terrain below.
Cold sweat trickled down.
My heart was racing. It felt like it was beating 1000 times faster than usual.
My hands were wet, making it harder to hang around.
I tried to breathe as quietly as possible.
'Please continue walking...!'
And so he did, resumed walking his way without a peep.
I decided to wait a couple more seconds, then pulled myself up.
My composure started to reappear, my breath became calmer and my brain finally started to cool down.
"Phew..."
I laid my hands on my knees, slightly squating down, comprehending what just happened.
And...
HOW THE HELL DID I GET HERE!!!
I looked in the direction where he disappeared into the dark.
"Who or what was that guy..."
I hoped I'd never see him again.
That single encounter was enough.
"Haaaa..."
I let out a long sigh.
I wasn't sure what to do next. Should I go in the direction where that guy went...? or maybe the opposite direction?
"RIGHT!"
It might be clever to look for the person who screamed out loud.
"Alright!"
I pulled myself together, ready to investigate where he came from.
'Maybe I'll find some answers!?'
**********
It felt unsettling to walk through the darkness. But I was determined to find out about this eerie place.
It didn't take long before I arrived.
I stopped in front of a grotesque, dead body.
Drip
Drip
Blood is dripping through the bridge down to the first floor.
My eyes witnessed plenty of grotesque bodies, so I could handle the view.
I moved my head closer, trying to find more information.
His face isn't recognizable anymore. My eyes only caught his short black hair and the orange suit.
"Seems like he's also a prisoner."
The thought that I would've ended up like him if I confronted the killer gave me a shiver down my spine, but at the same time, I was relieved he hadn't found me.
"...!"
I noticed a black card looking out of his pocket.
I craned my arm, grabbing the card out of his pocket and analysing.
==========
NAME: Yerui
ID: 07-312
Class: Deathcandinant-Zeta
==========
On the card is a name, a number, a face, and..
'Deathcandidant?!'
Next to it is the word 'Zeta'... known as the sixth letter in the Greek alphabet
But oddly enough, his face seemed somewhat familiar.
I've decided not to waste my time figuring that out.
I pulled my head away ready to continue my way.
His card will be stored inside my pocket, after a brief look at it.
"....mh?!"
There was something in my pocket.
"It feels similar to..."
I grabbed the mysterious thing and pulled it out.
"Another... card?!"
I was puzzled. Why the heck did I have one too!?
There isn't one single memory in my head that I've put inside there.
==========
Name: Fellra
ID: 07-058
CLASS: Deathcandinant-Alpha
===========
It's the same black card as his...
I shook my head to clear my mind.
There's still a crazy guy with me... every second I waste could be my end.
I stored my card too and headed away from the corpse.
It didn't take long before I found a staircase leading down and up to the other floors.
I took the way down, hopefully finding an exit.
After reaching the ground floor I stopped for a second.
There was a sign with three arrows attached to it. Upwards, left, and right.
Tho only the upward arrow said something
"Cafeteria..."
I was uncertain where to go.
The right way is a no-go... It's where the big guy went.
I could keep going the left way... but it felt like it won't lead me to anything...
"Cafeteria it is!"
I took the middle hallway that'll lead me to the cafeteria... hopefully.
But a certain thought never left me alone...
Am I alone here? Or is there anybody else by any chance?
There might be more people like me, for the fact that I've found a freshly dead body early before
There was hope inside of me!
I've reached a double door, the one that surely opens to the cafeteria
Grumbel...
"Urgh..."
The thought of going to the cafeteria makes me hungry... I haven't gotten any food between my teeth!
'Maybe there's some food'
I almost drooled uncontrollably out of my mouth, smiling.
But priority might be a weapon, stored somewhere in the kitchen. Like a knife!
"Ok...!"
I quietly opened the door, peeking through a small gap, investigating the area.
"Mhhh..."
It had a similar look to the prison cafeteria I was in before.
I took the first step, and after a few seconds, the second one.
I quietly closed the door, not trying to make any sound. The last thing I'd need is a weird killer chasing me.
I took the opportunity to go behind the counter into the kitchen.
It wasn't a clean kitchen. More the opposite...
The walls were greenish, the working surfaces were full of smudges and dust, as if nobody had cleaned them in a while.
And...
"Urgh..."
The smell of rotten flesh spread across the kitchen.
I squeezed my nose with my fingers, making it easier to bear the smell.
I surveyed the area, searching for anything useful.
But there wasn't as much as I hoped.
No knives on the surface or hanging down a hook on a wall.
No food either.
Neither in the kitchen cabinet, nor in the freezer.
'Maybe in the fridge...?'
I kept the fridge the last one to investigate, due to the strong smell coming from it.
With a slight hesitation, I opened the fridge.
"...!"
I was greeted with two disembodied heads directly in front of me.
Further below were hands, arms, legs, and feet. Some seemed fresher than the others.
I wasn't sure at first, after I smelled the scent of rotten flesh, if it was the remains of human body parts or just rotten meat from animals.
But now I know...
"Haaa... nothing in here too..."
I just sighed out of disappointment and smacked the fridge door closed.
But it still made me think... who killed, and put them inside the fridge?
Obviously, my first guess was the killer that is lurking around here.
But what was worrying me the most, was that some of them seemed freshly killed.
'I think it's better to go'
I walked straight to the kitchen exit, trying to figure out what to do next.
"...!"
I immediately got thrown out of my thought, by a slim arm around my neck, making it harder to breathe, and a knife next to my cheek.
"One suspicious move and I'll make u one head shorter... understand?"
I sensed a calm, but stern female voice behind me.
It's hard to tell if she really wants to harm me, or maybe she's just another prisoner just like me. The smartest move in this Situation is not to fight against her.
"May I ask who you are?"
My attitude stayed soft, trying to show her that I'm not a threat.
Maybe she can tell me more about this place
"..."
First, there was a short silence in the air, then she spoke up.
"I'm the one asking the question! So tell me if you're the one who brought me here and what kind of benefits you have from doing that"
So she also doesn't know where she is or how she came here.
Asking here about the place is immediately down my list.
At least I know that I'm not alone, and there might be more people like us.
"Call me Fellra. I got imprisoned a few weeks ago. One day I woke up in a cell in this building."
Her grip tightened, making it a lot harder to catch air, and her knife slightly drills inside my cheek. Blood is dripping down her knife onto her hand.
"I'm not here for jokes. So tell me the truth"
I couldn't blame her. If I were in her position, I wouldn't believe it either.
Still...
The choking of my neck made it a lot harder to think, but I had to find a way to prove it to her at all costs.
"...!"
A realisation was hitting me like a rock.
'The card!'
If my theory is right, everyone who got here has these sorts of ID cards.
I took all my strength to form my sentence
"In your pocket. There is a card you've obtained after landing here"
She was suspicious and bewildered at the same time.
"A card...? I don't fall for that"
I couldn't blame her. A card suddenly in her custody? Transported into a weird prison? That sounds like something out of a ghost story!
Tho... she doesn't have any choice does she?
And so she did after a few seconds of sorting her mind.
"...!"
She pulled a card out of her pocket, but what's different is that her card wasn't black. It was white not like mine!
Her grip loosens, and the knife is at a safe distance.
"Oh... I guess it wasn't a lie. Sorry!"
I was baffled by her sudden personality change.
From cold and calm to serene and energetic.
I was able to turn my head around after she let go of me.
She had black hair with pinkish split ends.
Her outfit was the same as mine. Orange with a black number engraved above the breast.
"No need to apologize. But may I know your name?"
She looked at the ceiling, holding her chin, thinking
"Mhhhhh... Ok!"
She stretched her arm out with an open hand.
I gave in with a smile, shaking her hand.
"My Name is H ira. Nice to meet you Fellra"
"It's a pleasure to meet you too"
I was glad I found a companion. So I don't have to continu e,my journey alone is a big plus point
THUD
"...!"
"...!"
Our nice meet and greet was interrupted by a big thud.
It sounded like...
'The cafeteria door!'
We sneaked out of the kitchen quickly behind the counter, glancing over to view the surrounding
Tap...
Tap...
Tap...
'Shit!'
The big killer I've witnessed earlier is coming towards the kitchen, dragging a dead body like a doll in his hand, and the big hammer on his back
"Why is he here!?"
