Chapter 1 - The story of my life (it doesn't go well)

"You're fired. Move it" The manager yells across the room.

"What do you even mean by that? I worked more than anybody in this room. You promised me a promotion! Where are you going? Talk to me!"

"I have nothing more to say. Get out!"

Haa. He is so screwed. I jump towards him and land a punch in his face.

"That's for lying to me!" I yell as I punch again.

"And that's for forcing yourself on lucy" I yell.

The air weighed heavy on the room as I yelled aloud. A bunch of people come to grab me as I try to punch me again.

"That ungrateful wench" The manager grits out as he spits out blood.

"Get her out of my face" He yells back.

They drag me out to the back door and slam the door shut.

Yay. This day couldn't get any better. I pick myself up and walk back into the bar. The sound blaring out deafening my ears while the lights makes this place feel like a funky war zone. I take the closest seat next to the bar counter while I wait for my drinks.

"Hey babe. Is everything alright? I just found out what had happed. I wish I was there to help you" The bartender says as he passes me my usual order.

"Just do your job. And get me something stronger" I scoff at him.

"Why are you like that? This is why no one gets close to you" He sighs.

"I'm leaving."

"Babe wait. Stop, here is your drink. Its on the house" He smiles awkwardly as he puts the drink in my hand.

"Don't call me that. We broke up for a reason."

The blaring sound makes it harder to say what he was saying but I took no notice of it and go the the furthest end of the bar. The hard wool chair was soaked with alchohol but i dint mind. not today not ever.

It hurts to breath. The relationship lasted for a while but i cut him off before things got too serious. I had too much going on in my life for him to be dragged down with me. Afterall I had a streak of never achieving the things I want. I drown myself in liquor but it doesn't get to my head. Yet.

The seat gets overfilled with random strangers who eventually push me off my seat. Well this day can not get any worse. I take my stuff and leave the bar and halfway back home a storm comes sweeping away my scarf.

Not happening today. I go after my scarf running towards it against the rain. It felt like the rain wanted to separate me and my scarf. I scoff at the rain. It had to do better than that.

And that's when I realize I stepped into the lake. The lake wasn't deep per say. But exhaustion finally won over me dragging my heavy cloths down. Maybe this isn't as half as bad as living.

That's when I stopped trying to push myself up against the tide. I just stopped. It was finally peaceful. I drown in my own misery. I cant help but help smile at my situation.

Today was my birthday.

~~~
"Veronica! Veronica davenport if you don't wake up this moment I will kill you" A young voice yelled contrary to his posh accent.
I blink open my eyes to see a young man shaking my body with brute force. No wonder I woke up from my trance. I look at him again and suddenly his knees buckle and he stares at me for a while. I ignore him as I look around me. This dint seem like your usual hospital. The drapery was expensive and posh and the place dint seem to have electricity.
Where am I? I cant afford this place.
Just as I was about to move the young man Infront of me starts sniffling. Is he crying?
"Are you okay?" I ask as I pull his chin up.
Tears stream down his face, his eyes overwhelmed with saddens.
"Don't do that again, please. I can beg you if you want. So please, stop" He cries.
I had no clue of what he was saying. Do what? Is he talking about me drowning.
That's when it hit me. I'm still alive. Why? Is that why he's begging. I don't even know him but I couldn't yet just dismiss him. And all his tears made dint make it any easier.
I pulled myself together as I tilt his face towards me.
"Who are you?"
He froze on spot like I said the most vulgar words.
"Huh" That's the last thing I hear from him before he faints on my bed.
