Ren did not turn from the basin even as its waters stilled. The weight of the vision clung to his chest, heavy but solid. The Veilkeepers withdrew into silence around him, their hooded forms fading back into the edges of the chamber. Only Kaelen remained at his side, his hand resting briefly against the stone rim as though to anchor them both.
The elder woman spoke again, her tone measured. "To see is one step. To endure is another. If you are to survive the calamity, you must be prepared to walk where even shadows falter. The knowledge here is not kept in words alone. It must be lived."
