Damon's POV

"Dammit." I slammed my coffee mug on my desk, hot liquid splashing the leather blotter. My reflection glared back—eyes bloodshot from a night without sleep.

Across the room, Aria stood by the window, arms folded, the city's glow framing her silhouette like a halo of neon.

"What is it?" she asked, voice tight.

I ran a hand through my hair. "Celeste went on live television."

Her eyes widened. "What? When?"

"An hour ago." I opened my laptop and clicked the news app. The screen loaded with Celeste's perfectly poised face—hair lacquered, diamonds sparkling, green-screen skyline behind her.

Celeste (on TV): "Good evening. Some of you may have heard rumors that Damon Westin 'publicly voided' our marriage contract.

I was forced out—discarded for a gold-digging secretary. That contract was very real. And if Damon thinks he can destroy my reputation with a staged tear-up, he's sorely mistaken."
