Chapter 12 - Chapter 12

When the other black shadow warriors saw this, they immediately took cover behind various obstacles, alert and cautious. At the same time, they raised their guns to suppress the area where the shots had come from.

Moments later, one black shadow warrior looked up to check the situation—and was instantly shot in the head.

Gunshots rang out continuously. Despite moving quickly and using cover, several black shadow warriors were taken down by precise headshots.

"Someone with the ability to think?" Vega suddenly realized as several black shadow warriors nearby retreated back into their black shadow masks, entering cooldown.

In the villa ruins, one black shadow warrior died suddenly, but no fierce fighting followed.

Vega sensed something unusual and immediately raised his binoculars to observe.

He saw more than a dozen black shadow warriors surrounding a spot, cautiously hiding behind cover, suppressing fire toward one position. Yet even so, a man in his thirties—with a thin build and a goatee—was picking them off one by one with accurate headshots.

Vega furrowed his brows. Though the shadow warriors surrounded him, their bullets rarely hit the man. Instead, the man's revolver fired one precise shot at a time, each killing a black shadow warrior with a headshot.

Even with the Shadow Warriors moving quickly and using cover, this was no ordinary shooting.

"Must be a kill shot?""Or some kind of precise aim?"

But after watching carefully, Vega shook his head. He didn't believe this man had a truly powerful mental ability. If he did, there would surely be heavy restrictions or vows, and he wouldn't use it so easily.

After all, the Shelby family was just a small clan—how could they have such a master?

Vega noted that after every shot, the man paused briefly—as if aiming carefully. Without this pause, the headshots wouldn't be so effective.

As Vega observed further, the man appeared exhausted—panting and sweating—each shot draining a huge amount of physical and mental energy.

Vega sneered, "Let's see if your mind holds out… or if my Shadow Warriors overwhelm you."

He immediately ordered thirty or forty black shadow warriors to rush toward the man.

Meanwhile, Michelle was hiding behind a bunker, changing the magazine of his pistol, sweating heavily and gasping for air.

"Damn it, he actually bombed the villa directly. If his location wasn't so remote and if he hadn't used Nian to protect himself, he'd be seriously hurt."

"I need to find a way out of here."

Michelle felt his mental energy draining fast. He knew if he kept this up, he'd be in danger soon.

"The bodies of these black shadow warriors are too tough. With their armor and helmets, ordinary bullets barely faze them."

This forced Michelle to switch to a more powerful weapon, which drained his mental energy even faster—much more than he had anticipated.

Although confident he could kill these dozen black shadow warriors, Michelle knew he wouldn't last long. If Vega kept summoning more, things could get dangerous.

So Michelle decided to retreat.

"There's no point holding out here. It's better to pull back and wait for a chance to kill Vega and snatch that artifact."

After all, Michelle trusted his own ability to think and read the battlefield. Ordinary people would be no match for him.

Thinking this, Michelle began looking for a retreat route, scanning for enough bunkers to hide behind.

Suddenly, a noise came from the villa on the right side.

With a loud crash, a block of rubble was pushed aside, and two pale-faced men crawled out.

"Don't shoot! We're not from the Shelby family. We're subordinates of the Ten Old Men."

Hearing the noise, a black shadow warrior fired a burst of bullets.

Vega had ordered that no one remain alive in the villa, and his shadow warriors obeyed absolutely. They didn't care whose allies anyone was—anyone appearing there was a target.

One of the men was unlucky and was immediately shot and killed. The other panicked and crawled back into a pit.

Daniel, hiding in the pit wearing pajamas and clutching his phone tightly, screamed when he saw his bodyguard fall.

He quickly called his cousin Murphy for help.

At the first ring, Daniel sobbed into the phone, "Cousin, save me! They're going to kill me!"

Murphy frowned hearing the desperation in Daniel's voice. Calmly, he asked, "What's happening? Is the Shelby family after you?"

"Isn't Michelle with you?"

At that moment, a bodyguard hiding near the pit shouted loudly, "I'm from the Hegel family, a subordinate of Lord Hegel—one of the Ten Old Men. You belong to that faction, and Lord Hegel's nephew is here."

"If you dare to hurt the Hegels, we won't let you go."

But the only response was a bullet shot at the pit entrance.

Seeing the bullets flying in, Danielton understood these people wouldn't let him go. Fear and the shadow of death engulfed him.

He shouted loudly into the phone, "Save me! Cousin, I don't want to die!"

Just then, a grenade was thrown inside.

Boom.

Silence followed.

Murphy, holding the phone, heard only a faint murmur and then slammed his phone down in anger.

"Coming!"

A figure appeared, bowing respectfully and waiting for Murphy's orders.

"I want news from Nacro City. Find out who dares to kill the people of the Hegel family."
