With Gu Zhi waiting in the tea house Gu Xiao had just finished her negotiations with the city council.
"Then it's agreed on, 630 new babies will appear in our city in exchange for the treasures and resources you require".
"That's right" Gu Xiao said.
The city council was going to pay one half up front and the rest after the deed was done. In the first half they were given: ear root grass, nine-scents jade, mouth of truth elixir, and earthly vein potatoes. They would give the supplies for cultivation first and the disguise resources last. This was a very smart move by the city council because they knew that Gu Xiao and Gu Zhi would need them to leave the city.
Back at the tea house Gu Zhi was immersed in his thoughts until he heard foot steps approach.
"So, how did it go?" he asked guessing it was his wife.
"It went well, they will give us all the things we require for 630 new babies made in the city" she said.
Gu Zhi processed the information as he sipped on his tea.
"That's a lot of babies" he commented.
His wife gave him a silent stare back. "*Sigh* just get this over with so we can go back home".
The next day Gu Zhi woke up and headed towards a brothel. The city had chosen the location of the baby making to be there for several reasons. It being a place were this already happens a lot being one of them, another being comfort and transparency. The city knew it wouldn't be able to hide this information forever so they just didn't. It was much easier to be open and public about it to not only try and get support from the public, but also getting more women for the 630 babies. Sourcing women who want and are able to have babies, that are currently single and willing to become a mother right away are a very hard breed to find. Not to mention that Gu Zhi might be picky about the women he is procreating with. This led to the council deeming it to be too hard and costly to keep this secret, even with all the drawbacks it could bring if it went public. Obviously the young male populous wasn't happy about the event, while the older male and female populations were happy about it. This created a political divide in the city but political divides were very commonplace and as long as extremists were rooted out it wouldn't cause a problem.
Gu Zhi entered the brothel house as the women at the desk looked at him with her alluring eyes and long eyelashes.
"You must be Gu Zhi, is that correct" she asked.
"Yes that's right" he responded.
The only reason he was able to find his way to this brothel was through the resources he had received last night from the city council. In particular it was the nine-scents jade that helped him the most. The city had given him 3 resources helpful for developing 3 different senses. It goes without saying but a resource that can immediately provide benefits goes for a lot of money. If they had just wanted the disguises they could be out of here very quick but it would be a waste not to utilize this unique environment for benefits. Not only was it easy to work for the resources here with Gu Zhi's unique talents, but it was also for resources rarely if ever seen in the their home planet. This did not mean that these resources were better but that they could be hard to find and provide unusual benefits. Some medicines waned in their effectiveness the more one used them, this was why rare medicines had an extra value to them besides their scarcity. They provided a new source of power that one could tap into adding to their foundation more than what they could usually acquire. This was why people went crazy for rare medicines, the rarer they were the more money they could squeeze out of paying customers, and the more advantage that customer would have when they took said medicine. One of the reasons why Gu Xiao was okay with this whole thing is, that she would also greatly benefit from this as well. The earth vein potatoes were a never before seen spiritual plant for Gu Xiao so the prospect made the actions worth it.
"Well then come on back" she said with a tempting gaze.
Gu Zhi couldn't see her, but he already knew that the brothel provided for this event wouldn't take it lightly. He could already imagine the alluring figure ahead of him.
He walked as he followed the sound of her steps. The sound drumming and ringing in his head like never before. He could tell were the walls were from the slight echo's. He could feel the weight of the person in front of him by sound of their steps. He could hear her quiet breath and the slight temptation that it harbored in it.
'The ear root grass and the nine-jade scents are exceptional, way more than I thought they would be. For 630 babies maybe they don't even realize due to the environment their in just how much value these should really hold'.
The resources they gave Gu Zhi were so exertional he was stunned.
'Who in their right mind would give these away? The only possible explanation was that they didn't realize how much these resources would cost in their world. Maybe an abundance of these resources or the lack of use they have for the residents caused their price to fall. But for cultivators on the battlefield their would be fierce competition for these resources not to mention they would also be rare, due to over picking, and the natural scarcity they have. It was a miracle that I was able to acquire these, especially when I need them so desperately right now' Gu Zhi thought to himself.
