Chapter 88 - Bidding on a mount

"The next item we have is this spirit condenser, known for its ability to create money out of thin air, the current minimum bid is 2 million".

"2.1 million"!

"2.2 million"!

Gu Zhi was yet again surprised by the amount of money people would spend on things. Sure the condenser given enough time could pay for itself and more... but how long would it take. Something told him it would take centuries before it paid itself off. That wasn't a type of investment mortals could make.

"SOLD for 3.4 million to guest 22" the host said.

The auction then went on as the host listed more items. It wasn't that Gu Zhi and Gu Xiao weren't interested in them, but rather they didn't have the capital to bid on several items. They were here for two things and if they bet on anything else they might not have the equity to get what they really need.

"Due to a recent breakthrough the frost wolf mount has reached core formation, in addition because of this the seller also wanted to include the ice wind sleigh with the mount as a combination. So for the frost wolf mount and the ice wind sleigh the minimum bid will be 1.5 million spirit stones".

This was actually quite the wise decision to include the two together for many reasons. Due to the wolfs recent breakthrough most people would bet on it for its combat power and prestige rather than its transportation ability. That said the sleigh was useless if you didn't have the wolf so only people trying to sabotage or resell the sleigh would bet against the person who bought the wolf. In a different case if the person bought the wolf and had no intention of using it for travel, they wouldn't even bet on the sleigh making it at risk of not being sold. So with the recent breakthrough of wolf the seller surmised that this was the best course of action.

"1.6 million" Gu Zhi said.

"1.7 million"

"1.8 million"

"2 million" he quickly fought back.

"2.1 million"

"2.2 million"

"2.5 million" he said trying to scare them off.

"...2.6 million"

"..2.7 million"

"3 million" he eventually said.

"3 million gong once, going twice, SOLD to private booth number 5"

"*Phew* he managed to get the item we wanted".

"That was pretty close" Gu Xiao said.

"Well, its a good thing it worked out".

Gu Zhi and Gu Xiao weren't able to take a teleportation formation back home because they were so expensive. Not expensive as they were costly to use, but expensive in that they took a fortune to make. Only capital cities had them, and even then they were hidden from the public. They required an expert formation master and even then they had to be specialized in the space element. It doesn't need to be said how rare that element forms in cultivators. Even then they would need them to be a formation expert skilled enough to know what they were doing. Thus although teleportation formations were common for long distance travel. That usually meant LONG distance travel. As in continent to continent, or country to country. Thus even though they were in Yangoo, they still needed some very fast transportation means in they wanted to go back to the sect in a reasonable amount of time. The reason why they were able to get to the palace of eternal love in the first place in a decent amount of time, was because his father in law had a fast flying treasure at his disposal. Even then it took about a week or two. Going back an even greater distance on foot would take them too much time.

"Hopefully we can make it back in less than a year." Gu Zhi said.

"With a core formation mount, if that sleigh lives up to its name we could make it back in less than a month" Gu Xiao said.

"Now the moment you've all been waiting for folks the DIVINE BUILDING BEADS, unfortunately they were damaged however they are still usable, just to a lesser effect. The minimum bet is 20 million spirit stones"

"20.2 million"!

"20.4 million"!

"Are the beads really that powerful for people to bet so much on the damaged product" Gu Zhi asked.

"Actually I'm surprised they aren't going for more, this treasure has the type of appeal to make even immortals come down from the heavens to fight for it. But due to certain reasons they wouldn't even be able to if they wanted".

"What do you mean?" Gu Zhi asked.

"I don't know the details, but apparently there are forbidden zones, or restrictions for people with a high enough cultivation. They can still come here if they lower their cultivation, but that comes with its whole host of problems. In any case, its not like we need to be worried. I have word from a credible source that its very rare when they come into the mortal world."

'Hmm, I remember in the cultivation novels I read, they did have different worlds for people with a higher cultivation, this was commonly called ascension'.

"Sold for 58 million spirit stones" the host said.

"I wonder what they hope to achieve out of them" Gu Zhi said.

"Probably help for a breakthrough, when you get to a high enough level, your cultivation stalls as you hit many barriers. Some are so daunting that they will never breakthrough in their entire lives".

"That's why you need to build a strong foundation, so that you can breakthrough when the time requires" Gu Zhi said.

"You're exactly right, many times do people at higher cultivation levels regret not being able to build up a stronger foundation until its to late and they hit their wall. But some people spend their entire lives building up their foundation just to die to someone who rushed theirs. It is quite the paradox" Gu Xiao said.
