The worker for the auction house quietly brought them to the back outside of the house. In a the yard was a giant frost wolf, with a towering physique.
"Don't worry the wolf is completely domesticated. Here is a whistle" she said as she handed Gu Xiao a whistle. "whistle once, to move forward, once after that to stop. Whistle twice to attack, and once to stop. Whistle thrice and the wolf will come to you. besides that to keep it well fed you can whistle four times and it will go hunting on its own. Keep in mind though, that it can be dangerous if local cultivators find it, as some people can be very territorial. It has a collar on it indicating its domesticated, would you like us to leash it to the sleigh for you?" she asked.
"That would be most appreciated" Gu Xiao responded.
The frost wolf was a giant white wolf with a freezing breath to it. Native to the principality of yore, it thrived in the snowy forests and snowy mountains. This one in particular was expensive however due to its cultivation and the fact that it was domesticated.
They hooked up the harnesses to the massive sleigh in the back. Although it was called a sleigh, but had the size of a mini house. It had no roof to it but was filled with formations, tables, and benches. The worker gave them a quick guide on the use of the formations and then left when the frost wolf was properly harnessed to the sleigh.
"Alright let's go home" Gu Zhi said.
They already had all their belongings on them so it made no sense to stay. Even then if word got around that they had almost a 5 million spirit stones on their person they would be hunted down quite quick. The main reason why they haven't already been attacked had to do with the high purchases made throughout the auction. Many people had the idea to rob people after they just spent a lot of money on an auction but few ever succeeded. It was mostly because everyone knew there were people who tried this tactic so they always came prepared. Over time, the tactic became less popular because so many thieves died trying, but that did not stop them all. In any case, the thieves would probably go for something other than the frost wolf mount for obvious reasons. One, it wasn't the most valuable thing sold in the auction. Two, they would need to capture it alive, and fight off the owners, which was both difficult and usually unrewarding. Three, with Gu Xiao and Gu Zhi's identity hidden, thieves would have to take a significant risk for targeting them. Many of times they would rather try to rob someone they know, even if that person is influential. It was the classic case of "better the devil you know than the one you don't". Unknowns were peoples biggest fear after all. People also didn't know that they carried a larger amount of nine heavens ambrosia on them. If they did, then they would certainly be attacked. However, with all the factors put together, both Gu Zhi and Gu Xiao, didn't think they would be attacked. Thieves had to have a brain to them if they wanted to survive long.
Gu Zhi and Gu Xiao climbed into the sleigh as Gu Xiao looked south, she used a hand signal taught to her by the worker to move the frost wolf in that direction. Once it was facing south she blew on the whistle.
*Smack*!
Gu Zhi and his family were thrown around in the sleigh as the wolf ran with devastating speed. She quickly turned on a formation as the wolf stepped onto ice formed out of thin air as it jumped up climbing higher and higher. As the formation turned on, the gravity in the sleigh turned to normal as they were able to regain their bearings, a wind shield also formed around them so they didn't have to deal with on-coming wind. The wolf stepped onto ice formed out of the wind, before it disappeared after it used it as leverage to run. The giant wolf, had gone into a full on sprint, as the speed of a core formation beast was not to be underestimated as they flew through the air.
They were going so fast that Gu Xiao had to make a new reassessment.
"Maybe less than a month" she said, as the speed did not seem that much slower than what elder Ming had used.
They spent the next two and half weeks going from place to place, as they had to stop for food, and housing until they eventually made it back to flying wind sect.
They made no effort of hiding themselves as there large wolf went straight towards the sect. Before someone came out to greet them.
"Halt"! someone said as they were flying in the air with no trouble. "What business brings you here?" he asked.
Gu Xiao blew on the whistle as the wolf came to a stop. She used the ring of distortion to help return the appearance of the original selves back, as they removed some make-up and props to return to their original appearance. They transformed from ordinary looking commoners into recognizable individuals.
"I am Gu Xiao and this is my husband Gu Zhi, we are coming back from the palace of love due to a mishap that occurred at the palace".
The man looked at them, before he started to recognize who they were.
"A mishap? What happened?" he asked.
"We can tell the sect after we return. It is quite the long story after all" she replied.
Although the man could press his advantage in cultivation to get some answers, that was when they were strangers and on their territory. Now that they revealed themselves to be from the same sect and the Gu clan on top of that, the man had to rethink his strategy.
"Well then come in, I bet the Gu family would be happy to see there champions return" he said with a smile on his face.
