Her breath became increasingly labored as she continued to think about Lena's words about Fransisca's crimes over the years. Hearing her husband's words, allowing her to cry freely, Victoria refused to hold back her sadness. After all, Matthias had been right, always advising her that bottling up her sadness wouldn't solve any problems. So she ignored Matthias's gaze as she continued to cry all night.
"You haven't slept yet?" Victoria asked in a hoarse voice.
"I haven't slept since you said you wanted to see Lena." His right hand rhythmically patted her supple back. "I knew it would be like this. I was so worried about you."
"But did you know everything from the start? Lena said you met her."
"Yes, I've met her. But I don't know what you meant. What did she say?"
"It turns out my father was killed by Fransisca, not Gianna."
Matthias's eyes widened. "But why can't I hear Fransisca's voice on my recording?"
