Chapter 283 - Chapter 284: The Chess Player from the Shangqing Temple

At that moment, in another wing of the prince's mansion, the mysterious figure from before slowly removed his mask.

"This boy is truly insane. To come here with a woman in tow… does he really think Prince Zuo Cheng wouldn't dare to kill him?"

Lin Yun was now a wanted fugitive throughout the entire Daye Dynasty. Even if he were to be killed on the spot, no one would say a word against the prince. Under these circumstances, for Lin Yun to swagger in here meant he must believe he was immune to the consequences. But who could possibly believe that would actually happen?

"Master, what do we do now?" a subordinate asked. "Prince Zuo Cheng's side has already sent people to urge us multiple times. His own men are completely unable to stop Lin Yun. At this rate, it won't be long before Lin Yun captures the prince."

In the entire, vast mansion, not a single person could be found to stop Lin Yun. Forget Prince Zuo Cheng; even this mysterious man was speechless. This prince of the Daye Dynasty was having a truly miserable time.

"Hmph. Of course, I cannot simply stand by and watch. Others may not recognize the woman he brought with him, but I do. It's clear he has learned part of the Crimson Ghost Sect's plan. He has come here this time intending to use Prince Zuo Cheng's power to deal with them."

In a single instant, the mysterious man had deduced the entire sequence of events. He began to secretly plot his next move. Since he had already made his preparations here, he could not possibly allow Lin Yun to so easily destroy his plans.

Meanwhile, Prince Zuo Cheng, protected by a large group of his men, finally came face to face with Lin Yun.

Though his situation was somewhat desperate, the prince showed no signs of fear.

"Lin Yun, do you know that you are a wanted man throughout the entire Daye Dynasty? If I were you, I would be speaking to me with the proper respect and apologizing right now," the prince said, his eyes narrowed, his face still a mask of arrogance.

Lin Yun's own clothes were spattered with blood, but he remained perfectly calm. "I was under the impression that the great Prince Zuo Cheng was a coward who wouldn't dare to meet me. It seems that is not the case. But Prince, you don't really believe that the people around you can protect you, do you? You know I am not so easily dealt with."

Lin Yun wasn't joking. Prince Zuo Cheng was powerful and had many experts protecting him, but in Lin Yun's eyes, they were nothing. If a real fight were to break out, he had plenty of ways to eliminate them all.

Prince Zuo Cheng himself likely knew this. But he had no choice. He couldn't let everyone think that he, a prince, was actually afraid of Lin Yun.

"You brat. Even at a time like this, all you can do is run your mouth. If you truly had a way, why would you be in this situation?" After a cold sneer, the prince glanced at the steward beside him. "I had originally intended to leave this boy alive, to see what he was really up to. But now, it seems I was being sentimental. What this boy wants no longer matters. Kill him!"

The moment the prince's voice fell, Lin Yun charged. The Orochi Sword at his back flew out to join him.

"Protect the prince!" several cultivators roared, summoning their own treasures.

But their treasures couldn't even last a moment before Lin Yun before they were shattered. This was a suppression of absolute power. He didn't even need to use his full strength to deal with them.

Prince Zuo Cheng's pupils contracted. He had long considered Lin Yun an opponent and had always wanted to eliminate him. But previously, Lin Yun was in the Beast Taming Sect, and it wasn't convenient for them to make a move there. They had thought that as long as the boy came down from the mountain, they would have plenty of time to deal with him. Who could have known that he would come down so much faster than they had anticipated?

At the time, the prince had thought it was a perfect opportunity. But in the end, he never would have imagined that in such a short period, Lin Yun's strength would have increased so dramatically. He showed not a trace of fear in facing them. This was proof of absolute power.

"I told you before. They are no match for me!" Lin Yun sneered, his body spinning. The moment the Orochi Sword slashed down, its terrifying power sent the surrounding cultivators flying with miserable screams. They had never imagined they would be so utterly defeated in a single clash.

And this was with Lin Yun holding back, not intending to make it too ugly for them. Even so, they would be unable to continue fighting for some time.

Yet Prince Zuo Cheng remained stubbornly unrepentant. "You brat, don't think you can win all by yourself! This time, I have invited an expert from the Shangqing Temple!" he roared with laughter.

As if on cue, the moment he finished speaking, Lin Yun's expanded killing intent domain sensed an intruder.

So fast!

Like a bullet, a figure pierced through his domain and shot directly towards him. The entire process was incredibly brief.

Lin Yun instantly summoned his second sword, the Firmament Sword, and met the attack head-on.

With a clash of two streams of light, the figure was knocked back. But as it fell, it used a bizarre technique to send the Orochi Sword flying. Both of Lin Yun's swords returned to their sheaths in his scabbard.

Lin Yun now got a clear look at the newcomer. As expected. The only ones who would come to this place at a time like this were indeed from the Shangqing Temple.

Everything was just as he had suspected. The Shangqing Temple was secretly colluding with the Crimson Ghost Sect, while simultaneously cooperating with Prince Zuo Cheng, borrowing his power.

These people were truly sinister. If Lin Yun hadn't discovered this in time, they might have actually gotten away with it.

Looking at the man before him, Lin Yun smiled. He had known all along that the expert sent this time wouldn't be their strongest. It seemed he was right. After all, the Shangqing Temple's goal was to use others to do their dirty work. If they had a truly supreme expert stationed here, Lin Yun would have been in real trouble this time, having been dragged into this mess for no good reason.

But as it stood now, the potential benefits were quite good.

The only question left was how to deal with them.
