A sharp crack split the air, blood spraying as Yammy and Ruby's hands were crushed clean in half, flesh mangled into pulp. Their faces went pale with terror as they wrenched themselves free from the boy's grip and staggered backward.
With casual indifference, Su Li tossed aside what remained of their wrists, the broken pieces landing with a wet thud.
"Captain Su Li…"
Feeling the familiar presence at her back, Rukia exhaled a trembling breath. Relief washed through her chest. This overwhelming sense of security was something only he could bring.
"Sorry for being late," Su Li said lightly. "I went to check the other side first. By the time I returned, it was already too late."
"The other side…?" Rukia blinked in confusion, but before she could speak further, he cut her off.
"Later. First, let's deal with these." His voice was calm, dismissive. He reached out with one hand, seizing a sudden glow of purple light. Wanda Wise's mouth was sealed shut in an instant, the Cero gathering there forced still in his throat.
A muffled detonation followed. Blood burst from Wanda's eyes, nose, and ears as his body convulsed, collapsing to the ground in silence.
"Su… Su Li-san!" Ichigo and Grimmjow shouted at once. They had both finally registered what had happened.
Ichigo stared at Su Li's back, his heart twisting. Every time I'm defeated, he appears. Every time I fail to finish the fight, he ends it. When I nearly lost myself to the Hollow, it was him who intervened before I made an unforgivable mistake. Again and again, he saves me. Again and again, I owe him. He is the one protecting my friends, protecting Karakura Town. Not me. His fists trembled as his gaze lowered in shame.
Grimmjow's reaction was the opposite. His eyes burned with fighting spirit, teeth bared in excitement. This was the battle he had been waiting for. Coming with Yammy and Ruby was nothing more than a means to reach this opponent.
"Kill him, Pantera!" Grimmjow roared, releasing his blade without hesitation. His spiritual pressure tore into the sky like a jagged flame.
"Destroy him, Ira!" Yammy bellowed, his monstrous Reiatsu rising with his release.
"Hang him, Yingniang!" Ruby shrieked, her spiritual power erupting with malice.
Three waves of resurrecciĂłn pressure thundered across the battlefield, heavy enough to suffocate. Rukia's knees weakened as her lungs locked tight, her body trembling as the strength drained from her legs. She nearly collapsed, but found herself leaning against a tall, unmoving figure.
The heat radiating from Su Li's back steadied her. Her heart pounded, then slowed, her fear receding. With him here… I have nothing to fear.
She clenched Sode no Shirayuki tighter, forcing her breath even. "Captain Su Li… these three are too strong. Let me fight with you, even if it's only a little." Her voice was unsteady, yet resolute.
She knew full well—each of these Arrancar carried captain-class power. Even Ichigo, masked and desperate, had fallen short. Alone, she could never face them. But Su Li had saved her countless times. Now, given this chance to stand beside him, she would not retreat. Even if she lost, she would fight with everything she had. That would be her repayment. Her proof.
Su Li's lips curved faintly. That stubborn determination—engraved into the bones of every Shinigami. Foolish, perhaps, but something he could not help but respect. For all his power, he lacked such a creed.
"…Fine." He nodded.
Together, they raised their eyes, facing three returning Arrancar with calm focus. On the surface, two against three was an impossible disadvantage. Wanda Wise's broken body still twitched nearby—another threat that could rise again at any moment.
But despite the numbers, Yammy and Grimmjow tensed. Ruby's expression darkened, unease twisting in her chest. She had never fought Su Li before, but in that one instant—when he had snapped her wrist as if crushing glass—she understood why even Aizen was wary of him. This was no ordinary opponent.
This boy… is dangerous.
Still, her thoughts cut to Rukia. I'll find a moment and kill that girl. Quietly.
"Rukia," Su Li said softly.
"Yes," she answered, eyes sharp as she steadied her stance.
Yammy, Grimmjow, and Ruby froze, waiting. They had no idea what Su Li's first move would be.
Then Su Li suddenly seized Rukia by her collar. In the same instant, their figures vanished.
The three Arrancar's pupils contracted violently.
"Tsugi no mai, Hakuren!"
Rukia's clear voice rang out behind Ruby. The Espada woman spun in alarm as a blizzard engulfed her, ice locking across her torso.
A shadow followed—Su Li's strike.
Crack—!
The ice shattered in an instant as his kick slammed into Ruby's face.
Blood sprayed. Teeth shattered. Her body hurled across the battlefield like a broken doll, crashing into the earth with bone-crunching force.
When the dust cleared, Ruby's swollen face was almost unrecognizable, her beauty twisted grotesque. Her eyes blazed with humiliation and hatred.
"I'll kill you both!" she shrieked, voice distorted with rage.
Her Reiatsu erupted again as she launched herself forward, white tentacles sprouting from her back, lined with silver spikes that glittered with venomous light.
Rukia's throat tightened, but she did not falter.
"Raise your blade, Rukia," Su Li's voice instructed, calm as still water.
Without hesitation, she lifted Sode no Shirayuki, ignoring the whiplash of tentacles lunging at her.
Snatch—!
The appendages froze midair, caught fast in Su Li's hand.
"Cut," he said quietly.
Rukia's eyes hardened. She swung.
Steel gleamed—hiss—blood spattered. The tentacle split clean in two, spilling flesh and fluid.
Rukia's heart jolted. Even with all her strength, her strike had barely opened a shallow wound earlier. But with Su Li guiding her hand, the impossible defense had yielded.
