The tiny Ignis on his shoulder tilted her head, squinting at him like he was a puzzle piece that didn't fit. "…You know, I'm honestly more surprised you're here in one piece."

Adam raised an eyebrow. "Why?"

"Because I remember exactly which dragon marked you." Her tone carried the kind of disbelief that made you feel judged even if she didn't mean to. "As strong as she is, her lust for beautiful men and shiny treasures is even stronger than her lust for battle. She keeps them in her palace like… trophies."

Adam blinked. "…And you know this how?"

Ignis' eyes narrowed. "Because, dear boy, I had to hand over a few of my own men to her to keep the peace a millennium ago." She crossed her arms, muttering, "Still salty about that."

A faint smirk tugged at Adam's lips. "Sounds like a personal problem."

"Hmph. Anyway, the mark isn't harmful. But when she brands someone, it usually means she'll come to collect. Sooner or later."
