The arrows rained down in the blink of an eye all around him before he could move. Whatever the rune was, it was stronger than Ryn expected.
It had cracked through the barrier he had created after Zhao shouted, and the barrier was already on the verge of breaking.
He looked down at Veyr, concerned about his own barrier, but it was still holding strong, while Chen was getting hit by thousands of arrows.
Chen had already met his end.
Just like Zhao had said, the barrier that covered the hill was not holding strong, and Ryn could hear Soryuth repeatedly groaning in his head.
"It will not hold for too long," Soryuth had said. "And that rune is never-ending until I stop it."
"You have a way to stop the arrows?"
"Yes. That rune feeds on blood, and Zhao will soon run out of energy. With that, I can attack him, but there is no way I can do that while protecting the students."
