Their foreheads separated. Kiri's face was pale as a ghost, but it couldn't hide the joy in her heart.
The second she finished,
Diliya in Kiri's arms woke up:
"Who are you?"
She noticed she was being held by a girl and quickly broke free.
As an adult being held by a kid was kinda awkward.
"Diliya!
You're okay!"
Becky grabbed her best friend's hand and filled her in on everything that had just gone down.
...
"Kiri, thank you so much for saving my life."
Diliya seriously thanked the girl in front of her.
Seeing how pale she looked, she knew the price wasn't cheap.
"I'll do whatever it takes to pay you back."
Kiri had been waiting for those exact words:
"Diliya,
I need you to come with me somewhere."
Her voice was weak, but her emerald pupils were totally alert.
"No problem!"
Diliya agreed without hesitation.
After all, someone had saved her life—this small favor had to be done.
"Then let's head out now!"
Kiri's eyes lit up with joy.
