Chapter 36 - Dead to Me

"Eli?? W-w-where the hell have you been? What the hell happened to you?? How are you so... massive...?" Keith asked me, the shock and confusion clear in his voice, but his voice soon gained a fearful tone as he gazed into my eyes, and read my body language.

"Eli..." Rachel muttered from the ground as she stared at me in shock.

I said nothing I continued walking towards my old friend, and he slowly began to back up. I was so fucking sick of it. Of people using me, of people treating me like garbage, of people only giving a shit about themselves...and now this? I came here to save my mom from abuse... and now I find the woman I used to love being abused by a man I once loved like a brother. I didn't love Rachel, and I would never even think about taking her back. That being said, at least she took accountability, and that earned just the slightest amount of respect from me. I didn't want her to get hurt, and this fucker...

I kept walking towards Keith, and he kept backing up, no doubt feeling the anger coming off of me. I could feel my own aura, so to him, it probably felt like an angry God was staring at him, and finding him wanting. Not far from the truth. Eventually, he couldn't move any further as he backed into the wall of my apartment, and stared at me, his eyes wide and filled with terror.

"W-w-what the hell is this??" He asked, unable to comprehend the feeling in the air.

I reached my hand out, and wrapped my hand around his throat, causing him to choke. On reflex, he kicked out at me, and his hands went to pry mine apart, but found the gesture completely ineffective. His eyes widened as he stared into mine, and whatever he saw caused his eyes to fill with tears.

"You've always been a piece of shit, haven't you?" I asked him, but he didn't respond, nor could he with my hand tightly around his throat. I didn't want him to, at any rate, as I was the one talking, and he was the one who needed to listen.

"ELI! STOP!" Rachel yelled as she got to her feet, but I didn't stop.

She was about to arep forward when my beautiful goddess of a wife blocked her path.

"You should be grateful he gives a damn at all." Cici said, her voice filled with venom towards the woman who hurt me so much with her actions, and once again, I was reminded of how lucky I was to have her.

"BUT HE'S HURTING HIM!" Rachel said, and went to move my wife, who was a bit smaller out of the way, but she didn't budge.

"You should be thankful that's all he's doing. And don't touch me again." Cici said, a fire in her voice, and that shut Rachel right up and must have scared her, because Rachel just stood there motionless. Our auras were a bit much for Earth humans, it would seem.

"We were friends for so long, Keith. We did so much together, and to see what you've become sickens me. Both of you stopped seeing me as a friend, and started seeing me as a burden. One that would disappear sooner or later." I said, my tone a growl as I stared at him, before looking back at Rachel, and the look in my eyes made her flinch back.

"Instead of just telling me, and leaving me to die with dignity... you went behind my back, and betrayed my trust. You both broke me." I said, and I was surprised to feel my eyes start to sting.

"Eli, darling, he can't breathe." Cici said, informing me more for my sake than Keith's.

I didn't want to kill him, but I wasn't just going to stand around while he hit Rachel, even if I didn't care about her that much anymore. I threw him to the ground, and he thudded against the floor. I didn't care, and I really hoped it hurt. I didn't want to see this guy ever again. I unconsciously held myself back because I knew I could pretty much poke someone with my pinky and kill them, and I had no doubt Cici could do something similar as well. We were like dragons among mice on Earth.

Keith took several heaving breaths as he regained himself, and when he looked up at my after a moment, I saw eyes that both feared me, but there was also a hint of anger in his eyes. I didn't give one single shit about his feelings.

"I don't want to see you anymore. You're dead to me, Keith. Get out of my sight." I said, letting go of that final part of me that still held on to him in my mind, "And don't ever come back here."

Slowly, he got to his feet, rubbing his neck as he actually glared at me.

"You... what gives you the right to..." He said, but he paused when I looked him in the eyes, letting my true aura leak out of my for just a split second, before it was gone.

I heard Rachel gasp as she fell backwards, meanwhile Keith looked like he was staring death in the face. He made his decision, as wise one if I say so myself, as he bolted towards the door, threw it open, and ran. I heard his footsteps echo throughout the building until he was finally gone. I sighed as I made my way towards the couch, and sat down. Cici walked up, and sat down next to me. She grabbed my hand, her fingers interlocking with mine.

"Are you okay, Eli?" She asked me, and I breathed out a long breath before I nodded.

I looked over at Rachel, who was staring at me like I had grown a second head, and then ripped it off, ate it, and then grew another head. The sight almost made me laugh. Was that wrong of me?

"You're free to leave if you want. Go be with him, or just go home. I don't really care, although if you don't want to get hurt again, I wouldn't suggest going back to Keith." I said, thinking back on what I saw.

I wasn't lying when I said that Keith disgusted me. Since my transformation into what I am now, I could see inside of people, at their true natures, at their souls. I wasn't sure if Keith was always like this, or if it was recent, but there was a murky film of darkness that surrounded Keith. It told me that he was heading down a bad path, and that while he hadn't done anything truly terrible yet, he was heading down a bad path. He'd always been a little selfish, but his heart had usually been in the right place. Now though? His heart was tainted, and I honestly didn't even care if he wound up getting himself killed.

Rachel meanwhile looked at me, looked at Cici, and then towards the door. I wasn't going to hurt her, although I wouldn't lie and say I was going to be thrilled if she stayed.

"Well? You going to go after him or not?" I asked, and she looked at me for a while, and then slowly shook her head, and rubbed at the handprint on her face.

"Eli..." She breathed out, her body beginning to shake as she looked into eyes that now held nothing pleasant towards her in them, "W-what happened to you?"
