Chapter 54 - Stone Wall

Angus's trick failed for the first time today. He didn't expect that the chapel that was blocked by huge stones would be broken into. Under normal circumstances, who could handle that pile of stones without a crane or a few kilograms of guns? The wolf girl with strange strength that appeared halfway completely disrupted Angus's plan. In his panic, he didn't see who opened the door of the chapel, and in order not to expose himself, he didn't even turn on the mining lamp to look at the door. When Lily moved the first stone, the alert hotel owner entered the underground through the secret passage, and considering that the secret passage might be discovered, he did not stay there, but moved directly to the outside of the castle according to the route in his memory.

But the originally unobstructed underground passage suddenly had a stone wall, blocking him.

"You said this place was connected originally?" Kevin was a little surprised after listening to Angus's explanation. "Are you sure you didn't remember the wrong way?"

"I've walked this road many times, it's impossible for me to remember it wrong," Angus had been in a state of panic before. After talking to the "ghost" in the black fog for a long time, he finally came to his senses and felt that something was wrong. "Hey, aren't you the undead of the castle? Why don't you know the situation below?"

"This has nothing to do with you. Just think of me as visiting from the cemetery next door. Undead are not allowed to have a private life," Kevin said nonsense casually, "So, the haunting here was you acting from beginning to end?"

"Ah... yes," Angus secretly looked at the constantly wriggling black fog in front of him from the light beam of the mining lamp. It was the first time in his life that he saw a real "undead". He felt that the other party was different from the ghosts he had imagined in the past. "I really didn't want to disturb the heroes below. I just borrowed the ruins above. I didn't mean to do anything bad. People often do this in this era. It is not a bad thing to make money with cultural relics and historical sites. From another perspective, I might be able to give this castle a chance to be renovated..."

"You are really good at talking," Kevin felt that the hotel owner was really smart and worthy of being someone who could make big news. He turned to Wei Lili beside him and lowered his voice, "Then what should we do? How to deal with this fat uncle?"

"Have you finished asking?" Wei Lili confirmed, then raised her hand and pointed to Angus not far away, "That's it."

A faint red light split out from the black fog and sank into Angus' body in the blink of an eye. The other party fell to the ground without a word and stopped moving.

Kevin jumped up immediately: "Hey, I just told you how to get rid of him, I didn't ask you to kill him..."

"I just knocked him out temporarily," Wei Lili looked at Kevin strangely, "What are you thinking about, did you watch vampire movies again last night? I told you that those things are too misleading, try to avoid them as much as possible."

Kevin was speechless, looked at the fat uncle lying on the ground, and felt that it was not a good idea to leave him here, so he waved to Lily to come over: "Send him upstairs, find a safe place. Oh, by the way, pay attention to the movements of those 'ghost experts'."

"Okay!" Lily nodded in agreement, stepped forward and picked up Angus lightly, and ran away in a flash.

Kevin looked at the direction where Lily left and shook his head with a smile: "This is really... After all this time, this is what happened? This fat boss is really creative." Although Angus played tricks and cheated many people, Kevin didn't complain much about it. After all, it was not a big sin. Moreover, there are tourist attractions and theme parks that have bigger gimmicks these days. Angus's is not good enough. Kevin just thinks the whole thing is a bit speechless. The sensational castle haunted incident turned out to be just an idea that the fat boss of the hotel came up with to attract customers. And it lasted for so many days and no one discovered the secret. This... really fits the saying: life is too fun, because life always plays tricks on people! Of course, Angus's tricks would not last long. More and more supernatural enthusiasts came to join in the fun. Among them, there might be some great masters or retired experts and scholars from the "Approaching Science" program team. Sooner or later, the hotel owner's tricks would not work. Kevin saw that the fat owner was simply "completely unable to stop". The haunted castle brought him a lot of customers, and it seemed that it would not be exposed for a while. Even the TV station program team was behind him to fuel the flames for the ratings. How could he stop? He could only stage the haunted incident every now and then. It was sooner or later that it was exposed. Didn't it appear today? "Playing tricks...?" Wei Lili turned around without comment, curiously studying the stone wall blocking the tunnel, "The strange scenes people see on the ground may be a trick, but there are real things below." Kevin suddenly remembered his business, and remembered that the situation of this stone wall had not been explained clearly, so he became curious: "The fat boss should not have lied, this stone wall suddenly appeared, where did it come from?" "It's not the top of the cave that fell from above," Wei Lili pointed to some marks on the stone wall, "scratches, it should have slid down from the side not long ago. This is a designed structure, specially designed to start when needed to block this road." Kevin was about to say something when he heard a clattering sound coming from behind. He turned his head and saw that it was Lily. The wolf girl ran all the way back, and as soon as they met, she happily reported her work: "I sent the fat boss up! And the ghost hunting experts seem to have withdrawn!"

"They left?" Wei Lili was very surprised, but then she suddenly realized, "Oh, that's right, the 'paranormal phenomenon' is over. They should have wandered around the castle ruins for a long time without finding anything. After all, they are not professional demon hunters, just a group of enthusiasts."

"Then you left the fat uncle alone in the wilderness?" Kevin looked at the wolf girl who was out of his mind, "There are no wild animals outside, right?"

"It's okay, when I sent the fat boss up, he was about to wake up in a daze, so I threw him into the truck of an old man who was dismantling a tent. He should be on the road back to town with the tent now," Lily turned into a werewolf and shook her tail vigorously, "Don't worry, landlord, no one found me, I came and went like the wind! And this bat's magic is really unreliable. It's only been a few minutes, and the man is about to wake up."

Wei Lili immediately defended herself: "It's more mysterious than your swinging a brick, right? And I deliberately suppressed the effect of the spell, otherwise I would accidentally make people fall asleep. Do you know how difficult it is to control it so accurately?" Kevin looked at Lily's tail and thought that regardless of whether it came and went like the wind, at least the tail really fanned the wind, and the dust behind the werewolf girl was flying. "Is Angus going to say something when he goes back?" Kevin muttered a little worriedly. Wei Lili studied the stone wall and expressed disdain: "You are just worrying about nothing. What does he say when he goes back have to do with us? At most, he will come up with a new set of haunted rumors. He didn't see our faces... Uh, I found something."

Kevin stopped paying attention to Angus's affairs and quickly moved to Wei Lili's side: "What what?"

"Here," Wei Lili pointed to the upper part of the stone wall, "Do you see these letters and symbols?"

Kevin squinted his eyes and looked for a long time: "So those are letters? I can hardly see the edges. Oh, that's not right. Why doesn't it look like English? It looks a bit like Egyptian..."

"It's not Egyptian, nor is it English. This is not a language used by humans," Wei Lili narrowed her eyes, with red light flashing in her eyes. "This is the 'Leta Rune' used by demon hunters and the church. It originally came from a very ancient demon hunter family, and later became an important means for the secret forces of the church to fight against 'aliens'. The fact that ordinary people can also use this symbol is the biggest feature of the 'Leta Rune'. However, as humans become stronger day by day, this rune has gradually retreated to the second line. I haven't seen the Leta Rune for more than two hundred years."

Kevin swallowed his saliva: "What is this thing... used for?"

He has realized the weirdness of this castle, and he also knows that there are real undead underneath, so he is sure that these runes and this suddenly appeared stone wall are definitely not placed here as decoration: they must be of great significance.

"It is used to suppress demons, devils, evil spirits, and 'evil objects' that carry unclean power but cannot be destroyed," Wei Lili pointed at the rows of runes that were almost completely corroded by time, "This door blocks the source of all evil. Evil power cannot penetrate. When this door falls, all guards will withdraw."
