Chapter 135 - Deep Sea

Nangong Wuyue swam leisurely in the azure ocean. Clearly, for this siren, the ocean was her true home. Although, in accordance with her mother's wishes, she had never ventured into the deep sea, her instincts in the water were innate.

Kevin, somewhat lost in thought, watched Nangong Wuyue's aquatic presence, exclaiming, "What a large tail!" Then, nothing more.

"Ahahaha... It's been ages since I've been in the water. I'm a little excited." With a splash, Nangong Wuyue emerged from in front of Kevin, her head swirling in the water, her hands grasping the edge of the iceberg. "Landlord, don't you think my tail is beautiful? It's golden red! Golden red! Just like the sunset."

As she spoke, the siren swung her tail, creating even more waves. After her transformation, she resembled the mermaid in the story, possessing a beautiful golden-red tail adorned with two layers of gorgeous lavender veins. Her upper body also underwent changes: pale blue, scaly-like coverings appeared on a portion of the skin from her forearms to her wrists, and very fine scaly patterns could be seen on the lower half of her cheeks. These scales weren't strange at all; they were small and delicately arranged, resembling beautiful tattoos. Nangong Wuyue's original clothes had vanished into thin air, and now she was covered in a strange "outer garment" that resembled both fish scales and leather. It was both beautiful and refreshing. Before, Nangong Wuyue was just an average-looking girl, but after her transformation, she seemed to have gained a mysterious bonus, giving off a stunning aura. However, Kevin's thinking process was different from that of a normal person. Perhaps his family's huskies and vampires had made him immune to beautiful women. After exclaiming at the size of his tail, the next thing he said was, "Where are your clothes?"

"Here," Nangong Wuyue flicked her tail, sending an ice ball out of the water. It landed right on the iceberg, where a few pieces of clothing could be vaguely seen sealed. "Brother Y'zaks, please help me check my clothes."

Y'zaks nodded cheerfully, while Kevin tentatively reached out and touched the surface of the water. "How do I get down? Can you cast a spell for me?"

"Just like that~~" Nangong Wuyue happily leaped out of the water, her large tail slapping Kevin on the back. Before Kevin could react, he plunged into the sea with a splash, and the siren girl immediately chased after him with a giggle. Kevin felt a flash of light before his eyes, and then he heard the sound of falling water, but the expected cold sensation was nowhere to be felt. He opened his eyes and found himself slowly sinking underwater, a shimmering "water film" floating around him. This film not only blocked the surrounding water but also allowed him to breathe freely. Aside from the strange feeling of floating in the water, he felt just as if he were on land!

A flash of gold flashed before his eyes. It was Nangong Wuyue's beautiful and proud tail. The siren seemed much more excited in the water than on land. She spun around Kevin several times, spinning him dizzy before she came up with a giggle and patted his arm with her tail. "Landlord, how's it going? A bit startled, right?"

"Can you talk?" Kevin asked in surprise, realizing he could hear his own voice clearly. "Can you talk underwater?"

"The siren is part of the water, and the water is part of the siren," Nangong Wuyue said, dragging Kevin towards the dark depths. "In this form, all water within a one-kilometer radius is an extension of my body. I've granted you the ability to breathe, speak, and be immune to water pressure underwater. That's all. But don't swim too far; anything over a kilometer will invalidate it."

Kevin nodded and began to experience this new and bizarre adventure. With the mermaid pulling him along, he didn't have to swim on his own.

Nangong Wuyue held Kevin's arm as they dived deeper. The mermaid's speed was incredible. Although Kevin couldn't feel the water brushing against his skin, he could tell from the speed at which the light dimmed and the acceleration he felt from his body that the mermaid was swimming at speeds far exceeding any submarine. The large tail swayed gracefully and lightly before his eyes, finally piqued Kevin's curiosity. "Speaking of which, I remember seeing somewhere that sirens and mermaids are different... Mermaids have fish tails like you, but there are two types of sirens. One is a bird-like monster that flies over the ocean, and the other has a sea serpent's tail..."

"Sea serpent? You mean?" Nangong Wuyue released Kevin's hand and, giggling, rolled twice in the water. Her fish tail immediately dissipated like water, becoming transparent before quickly solidifying into a three-meter-long golden-red tail, resembling a sea serpent. Furthermore, the delicate scales on her face gradually faded, replaced by a strange blood-red pattern. The mermaid princess's stunning presence faded, replaced by an indescribable strangeness and... enchantment.

This look was still beautiful, but it gave off a rather menacing first impression. Kevin didn't find it dangerous; he simply thought it made her look more like a "siren." Her previous mermaid image was clearly too naive. "You can transform twice?" Kevin stared at Nangong Wuyue in amazement. The magnificent three-meter-long sea serpent tail was so captivating he couldn't look away. "...This is already cross-species, right?"

"Any transformation is fine. Siren's don't have fixed forms." Nangong Wuyue simply wrapped her long tail around Kevin's body and, in an even more bizarre way, dragged her landlord towards the depths. "Water has no fixed form, and neither do we. So I can take on any form, whatever's convenient. I turned into a mermaid just now because I thought you'd like a fish tail, after all, it's more familiar to humans. But I didn't expect you knew other common siren forms. By the way, how about I turn into a crab and show you?"

A flurry of bizarre images flashed through Kevin's mind, and he quickly shook his head. "No! Let me keep some good memories of my childhood."

"Tsk, I was thinking of turning into a jellyfish or a giant squid. Tentacles are so convenient." Nangong Wuyue twisted her body and pulled Kevin closer to her. "Landlord, which do you think looks better, a fish tail or a sea serpent's?" Kevin: "…"

He felt the pressure of living with these extraterrestrials was growing. Being with them always meant facing similarly bizarre questions. These creatures didn't consider the aesthetic and cultural differences between themselves and humans. Lily had even asked him a creative question a while ago: Which tastes better, a teething stick or chewing gum…

"I think they're both pretty," Kevin thought for a moment, then settled for the most lame way of evading the question. There was no other way; the question was too bizarre. He pulled his hand away and touched the siren's tail wrapped around his waist. It felt cool and slippery. "So… all the human legends about mermaids, sirens, sea monsters, and other random things actually have the same origin? All from you?"

"I don't know. I wasn't even an egg back then, but it's probably just like that. Who knows? One of the elders might have gone to the surface for some fresh air and been spotted by humans. Isn't that how many legends on Earth came about? Even the mythological era was, to put it bluntly, just a bunch of ancient creatures forming gangs and fighting." "By the way, can you turn into a mantis shrimp?"

"Yes, you want to see?"

"...Never mind, I'll just ask."

The two chatted as they descended. The light from the surface grew dimmer as they descended deeper into the ocean. Finally, everything was utterly pitch black, with only the faint blue light of the data terminal leading the way standing out. Kevin, using his enhanced vision, could barely discern the surroundings in the darkness, feeling as if he had entered a mysterious realm.

Occasionally, strange black figures would flash by in the distance, or trail behind him and Nangong Wuyue. These figures were likely primitive creatures of this ocean. These primitive creatures seemed quite intelligent, having already recognized the presence of two strange, unheard-of outsiders, and so refrained from attacking them rashly. However, judging by the way they followed from a distance, it was clear they weren't good people either. "Please don't try to eat me..." Nangong Wuyue muttered. "I won't die, but it hurts so badly..."

"As a sea monster, you don't have any fighting ability?" Kevin found Wuyue rather amusing. Her timid appearance was a disservice to that mighty three-meter-long tail. Wasn't that the shape of a deep-sea overlord?

"I'm capable, but I've never fought before," Nangong Wuyue muttered as she sped up. "Besides, this isn't Earth. Who knows if the creatures in the sea will be troublesome. Anyway, how long will it take to get there?"

The data terminal led the way ahead of them, directing the direction with a blue beam. "Almost there. We should be able to see it in a few minutes."

At this point, it had forgotten about its fear of the deep sea; it was clearly just a lie.

Gradually, Kevin saw a few scattered lights appear ahead.
