"Mhm." Jaxson nodded as the dishes kept coming. He didn't bring up anything about emotions again.
Their conversation mostly revolved around food or their old teachers and classmates.
Rachel slowly relaxed and talked about fun things from the past, even showing a bright smile.
They were almost full when the waiter brought the last dish, poached prawns.
Cora's eyes lit up immediately, and she demanded to eat them the moment she saw the big, red prawns.
Rachel frowned slightly, glancing at Cora's round belly. "Cora, don't eat too much. You'll get too full later."
Even though she said that, Rachel still picked up a prawn, peeled it carefully, and placed it in Cora's bowl.
Behind her, Jaxson also picked up a prawn and peeled it.
Just as Rachel put hers in Cora's bowl, he quietly placed his peeled prawn into Rachel's bowl.
Rachel froze for a moment, as if a feather had lightly brushed her heart, causing ripples.
Jaxson raised an eyebrow. "What's wrong? Are we strangers now?"
