Chapter 3 - CHAPTER 3

"What?! Kei actually said that?!" Aya shouted when I told her what happened the other day.

"Yeah. She wants to be the first girl Drake takes seriously, so that's why she's acting like that."

"Wow. So that means... she's just challenged by Drake?"

"Pretty much."

Ugh! Why does Kei even want a challenge? She should've just joined Survivor instead. What a pain in the ass.

"So, what's your plan now, Ms. Alys Perez?"

"I don't know. Get back together with Drake, maybe?" I said, then lowered my head.

Aya suddenly burst out laughing. Was something I said funny?!

"Hahaha! Girl, please! The way you said you're getting back together with him—as if you two were actually in a relationship! Hahaha!"

And then she laughed again. Damn this girl.

"What? Technically speaking, we were a thing. And for the record—I was the one who broke it off! M-E!" I said.

Hey, I still have my pride, okay! I was the one who broke up with him. Hah!

"Maybe it's because you didn't even let Drake talk. You just machine-gunned him with words out of nowhere."

"Can you at least try to be supportive, Aya? Just try it."

I rolled my eyes. I swear, I'm going crazy. A guy best friend who's heartbroken, a girl best friend who's totally nuts, an autistic Drake Palma, and then there's me, the ultimate fool.

"Fine, fine. So what are you planning to do now?"

"I have no idea. Do I look like someone who has a clue?" I asked her, and she grabbed my face. Yes, grabbed.

"Hmm. Judging from your face, you really have no idea what to do. Your face symbolizes someone who's about to fail life." She said that seriously.

"Aya, do you want a flying kick?"

"Ah-eh, hehehe. Geez, girl, can't take a joke? Your face is that of a very intelligent, beautiful being. So... are you gonna treat me now?"

"Tss. You always ask me to treat you. I'm telling your mom."

"Hehehe."

Then we bought fries and soda. We quietly planned how I'd get back with Drake. Ugh. Disgusting. Me? Getting back together? With Drake?

Oh my freaking god. The thought alone is disgusting.

After break, we went back to our classroom. How nice. He's our classmate. Good thing he's always asleep. At least I won't feel awkward. Then again, would he even remember that I was once his ex? Ew. Disturbing thought.

"Ms. Perez! Are you paying attention?" our teacher suddenly shouted.

Oh no. The gremlin yelled at me. I'm probably heading straight to detention for this.

"Y-yes, ma'am," I stuttered.

"If that's the case, what was I just saying?" she asked, with bulging eyes.

Teachers like this are the reason students are scared to go to school.

"I'll just take the detention slip now." I said, looking down. I already told her I wasn't listening. Whatever.

The whole class suddenly burst out laughing. Haaay. Sheen's probably turned off by me again. Why didn't I inherit my parents' brains? Even our relatives are smart—like Kuya Clarence. How am I supposed to get into St. Claire's Academy if my grades keep looking like this?

"Hay, Ms. Perez, I really don't know what to do with you anymore."

Then she walked over to me and handed me the detention slip. I hope they'll just assign me to clean the library.

I spent the whole class with my head down. Haaay, Alys. Class has barely started and you're already collecting problems.

"Good luck with detention, girl!"

I just looked at Aya.

"Damn you. Just go home already!"

She laughed again. Why is my best friend so crazy??

So I headed straight to the Office of Student Affairs to submit my detention slip. Haay, life. Good thing Sheen isn't my classmate, or my shame would be even worse. He probably already thinks I'm hopeless!!

"Ms. Perez, what brings you here?" the secretary asked. "Detention, hmm," then she checked her record to see where I'd be assigned. Lord, please let it be the library!! I don't want to end up in the cafeteria! Touching other people's leftovers is disgusting. Ewwie.

"You'll be in the computer lab. Yes, you'll clean the computer lab together with Mr. Sheen Mendoza," said Ms. Secretary.

I immediately looked at her. "Seriously? With Sheen?!" I asked.

I mean, this is a first! Sheen never gets detention! He's the Student Council president! Oh noes! The principal might scold him.

"Yes, Ms. Perez. He was caught cutting class. Now go to the computer lab so you don't end up staying too late," she said again.

Hay nako, even if we stay till midnight, as long as it's with Sheen—

Wow, I'm such a flirt! Hahaha! But seriously, I feel sorry for Sheen. That Kei!! Can't she see how much he loves her? And yet she keeps chasing that Drake Palma! Ugh!!

I went up to the third floor since that's where the computer lab is. When I opened the door, most of the computers were still on. Huh, where is Sheen?

I walked inside and looked for him. I found him sitting in a corner, head bowed.

I walked over and sat beside him. "Sheen..."

He didn't say anything but hugged me. His head rested on my shoulder and I felt his tears fall.

"Sheen..."

He didn't say anything but hugged me.

His head rested on my shoulder, and I felt his tears fall.

"Sheen..."

I just repeated his name. I didn't know what else to do.

This was the first time I saw him like this.

My best friend, who was always cheerful and smiling—now looked like he was mourning. Kei, seriously?!

We stayed
