Chapter 48 - Chapter 48: A Fanatic's Stolen Diary

Somewhere in the Dark Palace.

Chen Jing POV:

After my great lord took that sinner to the dark palace, I went to inspect the carriage his lordship likely traveled in, while my followers was towing away the now crippled traitor Wang. I was hoping to acquire another sacred relique for my collection. However, never could I imagine finding the holy grail itself. Inside the small carriage, too small to contain my lord's grandeur was a book written by none other than his majesty himself.

When I realized it was his travel journal I felt as happy as the day I became a father. However, after reading it on my way back to Latnos I was appalled to discover the dishonor that little girl, no, that devil had inflicted on to his majesty. The humiliation he must have suffered at her hands was unacceptable. When I read, he was intending to recruit her to the Dark Palace, I rushed to Latnos in order to use the spatial travel gate to contact his majesty.

However, before I could beg his lordship to reconsider, it was already too late. That devil had not only robbed the Palace treasury, but she had also dared to lay a hand on his majesty. Such an unforgivable crime deserves no less than death by torture. So, I immediately put a bounty on her head as I began my crusade against this unholy creature. I did not need to inform his majesty, after all such things should be given for a devout servant of his lordship.

I was currently on my way to gather information from one of my fellow servants Sir Fuji of the 'Purple Palace' who runs the pleasure districts throughout the continent, as well as Sir Wong who owns the continent's number 1 clothing business having numerous branches spreading to all corners of the continent. Both of them have extensive information networks. If anyone would know where to find her, it would be them. However, on my way to ask Sir Fuji.

"I greet the great and majestic Dark Lord."

*Plop*

I was fortunate enough to meet his majesty, who no doubt had just returned from Sir Fuji after gathering information on that devil. Unfortunately, in my hurry to bow in reference to his eminence, I accidentally dropped the holy artifact out of my sleeve right in front of his lordship.

"Isn't that…"

My lordship picked up the holy grail and began to flip through the pages. I was trying to think of an excuse to avoid being exiled from this holy land once more, as the last time such an item was discovered within my possession, I was banned from entering the dark palace.

"My lordship, I was looking to return this artifact to his holiness's possession."

"You didn't read the contents, did you?"

"O-of course not. I would never dear to read the forbidden scriptures of his majesty." I lied. Forgive me my lord, but this sinner could not resist.

"Then how do you know this belongs to me?"

The journal in question was a small black book, with no distinguishing features. There would be no way for someone to tell its owner or contents from just a glance.

"Mr. Fuji, please tell the staff that Mr. Chen is not to set foot in the Dark Palace for the rest of the year."

And so, my suffering starts once more.
