Why were so many young Soul Masters willing to go all out to participate in the tournament? It was all for the chance to make a name for themselves on this grand stage, laying a solid foundation for their future.
To make it to the final stage—these sixty-four had undoubtedly succeeded.
Among them, three were from Shrek Academy, and five from Monster Academy. That was, in fact, the lowest number of finalists Monster Academy had ever fielded in the history of the tournament.
The waiting area was no longer as simple as before. With only one arena now in use, there was plenty of space inside the Grand Star Luo Stadium.
A temporary luxurious waiting zone had been constructed at the edge of the arena, just beneath the VIP stands with the best viewing angle.
Today's event was the one-on-one round, and all sixty-four finalists were gathered here.
Inside the waiting area, sixty-four plush sofas were arranged neatly, with a wide array of food and beverages laid out, and attentive attendants on standby to meet nearly every request from the participants.
Each of the attendants was young and attractive, exuding youthful vitality, their faces adorned with soft smiles. Their service was impeccable.
After all, the young talents seated here were some of the continent's finest. In the long history of the Continental Youth Advanced Soul Master Elite Tournament, there had even been stories of these beautiful attendants marrying contestants. For these ordinary service workers, it was like stepping into a whole new world—so their enthusiasm was understandable.
"Why are all these attendants going to Gu You and not to me?" Xie Xie said miserably.
By now, seven attendants had approached Gu You, asking if he wanted fruit or water.
"Just look at yourself. The guy is handsome, strong, and charming. Of course he's popular," Le Zhengyu replied, rolling his eyes.
"You just like messing with me, don't you?"
Le Zhengyu ignored him.
Judging by looks alone, among all sixty-four male contestants, none could match Gu You.
His appearance and strength made him irresistibly attractive to women.
On Monster Academy's side, their five finalists sat separately. Dai Yun'er was pouting, visibly displeased.
"Yun'er, what's wrong?" Dai Yueyan, seated beside his sister, asked in confusion.
Dai Yun'er snorted. "I just can't stand how some people are always attracting attention from girls."
The attendants on their side were respectful, but they didn't dare act overly friendly. After all, who didn't know this was the princess? And Dai Yueyan was a strong contender for the imperial throne. As for Long Yue, while his strength was also formidable, the intimidating aura he carried—and his towering bald frame—kept most girls at a distance.
Dai Yueyan chuckled. "You're focused on the wrong thing. Shouldn't you be wondering what'll happen if you face him in the competition?"
"Obviously I'll beat him up!" Dai Yun'er made a fist.
"Haha! Yun'er, your crazy brother supports you. I just don't believe Gu You would go all out on a girl," Long Yue laughed heartily.
Dai Yun'er said, "According to the schedule, if he wins this match, his next opponent is me. Just wait and see—I'll deal with him then."
'Truly… ignorant of one's limits.'
Dai Yueyan shook his head. His little sister was always like this, uncontrollable. He could only hope Gu You would go easy on her.
If Gu You made it through the first two rounds, he'd face Dai Yueyan in the third. As for a fight between Gu You and Long Yue, it could only happen in the finals, since they weren't in the same bracket.
For the students of Monster Academy, the finals were just as important. They bore even more pressure than the Shrek Academy students.
After all, this was the Star Luo Continent, far from the Douluo Continent. Even if Shrek's students lost, the news likely wouldn't travel back. And they were five years younger than Monster Academy's contestants. Even in defeat, they had excuses.
But Long Yue had admitted himself—there was a risk of losing to Gu You… and Monster Academy couldn't afford that.
If they lost, Monster Academy would be forever remembered as second to Shrek Academy—never again standing tall.
At that moment, a beam of light descended onto the arena.
It shot down from the open roof of the stadium, carrying a figure along with it. Clad in soft yellow attire, she looked graceful and poised. Her delicate features wore a gentle smile.
"Hello, everyone. I'm Fang'er. It's an honor to serve as your host and commentator for the finals."
Guided by the light, Fang'er landed at the center of the arena and bowed toward the VIP stands.
"As we enter the final stage, the battles will grow fiercer. A single mistake could mean total defeat. Today marks the first day of the one-on-one finals. While I know it's impossible, I still wish all contestants the best of luck. More importantly, show us your true selves—give it your all."
With all the spotlights trained on the stage, even under daylight, the arena gleamed dazzlingly.
The top 64 individual matches would be split into two days—sixteen matches today, sixteen tomorrow.
"Now, let's welcome the first contestants to the stage. One of them, I'm sure, has drawn everyone's attention. He hails from the Douluo Continent, the origin of our Star Luo Empire, and from the continent's number one academy—Shrek Academy. Please welcome the mysterious student representative, Gu You."
His mystery wasn't just talk. Up to this point, Gu You had never revealed his spirit rings or used five-ring techniques. He'd won every match with brute strength—only once using a skill, during his battle with the Fox King.
Even then, it was just a dragon's head, suggesting his martial soul might also be dragon-type, like Long Yue's.
Gu You had been selected for the first match of the knockout stage—clearly an intentional decision by the organizers, who had embedded numerous advertisements into the broadcast.
Gu You leapt from his seat. As the crowd erupted in gasps and exclamations, he stepped out of the waiting area.
All of Monster Academy's team turned to look at him. Long Yue smiled, while Dai Yun'er clenched her teeth in frustration.
She held grudges—and she hadn't forgotten how Gu You had embarrassed her before. Just thinking about it made her furious.
