Another figure surged through the air, hovering silently above the battlefield. His presence was chilling. In his right hand, he held a massive three-meter-long greatsword, its entire body glowing blood-red. His skin shimmered with an ominous dark golden hue, making him appear more like a devil god than a man. He stared coldly at Enci, without saying a word—but the pressure emanating from him was overwhelming.
Even Enci's heart trembled slightly. On the Star Luo Continent, he was recognized as the absolute strongest. A Rank 98 Titled Douluo—his title unquestioned. Yet the man floating before him, though silent, showed not the slightest inferiority in presence.
'This pressure... it's not beneath mine. Is he of equal cultivation?'
The man wasn't a stranger—it was Mu Ye, the Sect Master of the Body Sect!
At this point, the Shrek Academy team had rushed toward the arena. But the pressure coming from within was like a barrier; it weighed down on their bodies like a mountain, making it impossible to get any closer.
"Roar—!"
A sudden beastly roar came from the distance.
Long Yue, who had just been blasted into the air, was already climbing to his feet. His eyes had turned completely red, blood boiling with uncontrollable fury. He didn't hesitate—he charged directly toward Mu Ye, his body trembling with a surging aura. His fourth soul ring flickered ominously, on the verge of activation.
"Enough!"
Enci struck with a backhanded palm.
A golden beam descended from the sky, enveloping Long Yue's figure. It was like a heavenly shackle, freezing him in place. He couldn't move even a finger.
Enci turned toward Mu Ye and said with an apologetic expression, "Long Yue's martial soul is extremely powerful, but once pushed to the limit, it becomes hard for him to control."
Mu Ye didn't blink.
His voice was ice-cold. "How commendable. This was a sanctioned life-or-death battle, and yet you interfered. Does your Star Luo Empire still have laws? Rules? Luckily for you, he wasn't harmed. Otherwise… perhaps the Empire wouldn't need to exist anymore!"
Atop the imperial platform, Tang Bingyao—the head of the Douluo Continent delegation—had already risen to his feet. His expression was grim as he looked toward Emperor Dai Tianling.
"Your Majesty, I believe an explanation is due."
Dai Tianling's expression darkened. He hadn't expected such a turn of events.
"We will give your delegation a proper explanation," he said, brows tightly furrowed. "This situation escalated too quickly. We failed to respond in time. But rest assured, the Empire will take responsibility and offer appropriate compensation."
On the arena platform, under Enci's control, Long Yue gradually returned to his senses. He was aware of everything that had just happened, though his face was still full of gloom. Without a word, he stepped off the platform on his own.
"Teacher, is it really true that Long Yue loses control once his martial soul is fully activated?" Dai Tianling asked softly.
Enci sighed. "I've been working hard to help him suppress that part of himself. But the Mountain Dragon King's bloodline... it comes with complications. There's no quick solution. For now, we take it one step at a time. I'll keep him under watch. If he loses control again, I won't allow him to leave the academy."
"What a pity."
Dai Tianling shook his head.
He understood Enci's reasoning completely. The teacher wasn't wrong—he acted to protect Long Yue. The boy was one of the Empire's future pillars. He didn't blame Enci at all. After all, he had done it for the good of the Empire.
The individual tournament was officially over.
Gu You had emerged victorious.
His reward? A soul bone.
But Gu You didn't even glance at it.
'Too low-level. Not worth my time.'
So he casually tossed it to Xie Xie and the others.
"Use it if it suits you. If not, throw it away."
Everyone assumed the next event would be the team competition. But unexpectedly, Monster Academy announced that they would not participate. They had withdrawn!
That news stunned the entire Star Luo populace. People began whispering furiously.
"Are they scared? How could Monster Academy just back out like that?"
"It's a disgrace to the Empire!"
"After losing, they tuck their tails and run?"
Many were furious. No one could accept that the nation's pride had simply walked away from the battlefield.
Gu You adjusted his clothing calmly.
He didn't plan to participate in the team matches either. The rewards were mediocre at best. More importantly, without Monster Academy, Shrek Academy had no rival. Even without him, victory was already guaranteed.
'It's time for me to take care of more important matters.'
He moved silently, preparing to leave without anyone noticing.
Before his departure, he left a letter behind in his hotel room.
"Gu Yue, this letter is for you, and also for Teacher. I think we'll meet again soon, and when that day comes, we'll finally start to understand each other. I should answer the question you once asked me. I did suppress Long Yue's bloodline completely."
"Teacher, I'm not sure which one of you will read this. But if you're reading it now, it means I've already left. I voluntarily forfeit the team matches. As for the Empire's compensation—leave it. Or throw it away. We'll definitely meet again. It'll just take some time."
After leaving the city, Gu You entered a dense forest and trekked deeper for two full hours. The terrain gradually rose, and the sensation of ascending a mountain grew stronger.
The afternoon sun filtered through the thick canopy. The forest air was rich with oxygen, humid and fresh. The spiritual energy of heaven and earth was strong and abundant.
As the sun dipped toward the horizon, he reached the summit of a tall mountain.
Vegetation became sparse. The elevation was easily over two thousand meters. Traces of snow blanketed the rocky terrain, and the temperature had dropped significantly.
'This should do.'
Gu You exhaled softly and released his soul rings.
Seven radiant rings rose from beneath him, swirling with deep intensity.
"Roar!"
A thunderous dragon roar burst from his throat.
Purple-golden light patterns surged across the ground, like waves rippling through space. They spread out rapidly before condensing into a brilliant seven-colored halo. A moment later, a towering beam of light shot straight into the sky.
The heavens split apart.
The multicolored brilliance tore open the sky, revealing a vast, gaping rift.
Gu You stared at the sky, eyes sharp and unwavering.
'I've arrived, Dragon Clan…'
