Chapter 329 - Chapter 329: Regiment Commander, Are You Alright?

"Defying superiors? You're rebelling now, huh?"

Ma Shan bellowed in rage, his right arm surging with strength as he continued pressing down. But just then, Gu You's left arm moved.

With a sudden upward tremor of his arm, a surge of force burst out, sending Ma Shan staggering backward uncontrollably. His boots carved deep furrows in the floor as he skidded several steps back.

Ma Shan was thoroughly stunned.

He had always prided himself on his immense strength. Within the Ironblood Regiment, only Jiang Wuyue, whom he favored, could match him in raw power. And even then, thanks to his own higher cultivation and innate divine strength, Ma Shan considered himself stronger than Jiang Wuyue, despite the latter's Tyrant Dragon martial soul.

And yet, this young man in front of him, with a single movement of his arm, had pushed him back like a child. The power that burst out was absolutely not something an ordinary Soul King or Soul Emperor could muster.

'Could he really be a Major General?' The thought flickered across Ma Shan's mind but was quickly cast aside.

'Impossible!' Just a while ago, this guy was only a Second Lieutenant. Even with monstrous talent, military promotions required steady accumulation of merit. A Major General wasn't a title you could be handed on a whim—unless one became a Blood God. Advancing to Major General otherwise required approval from the federal military headquarters.

Just then, Ma Shan's eyes turned cold. With a sudden burst of soul power, his body rapidly expanded. His martial soul erupted.

In a flash, his form swelled to over six meters tall.

Unlike Jiang Wuyue's Tyrant Dragon which emphasized a towering stature, Ma Shan's body became wider and more solid, his shoulders broad as a mountain. His thick arms bulged with muscle, each segment as dense as iron spheres.

Gu You's expression darkened.

'This is my forging workshop,' he thought grimly. 'If we really go all out here, the place will be wrecked for sure.'

"Commander Ma, please calm down. I'm willing to go to the military tribunal to prove my identity." As he spoke, the Golden Dragon Spear appeared in his right hand. He raised it, and a platinum-gold spear light ten meters long shot out, brimming with overwhelming spear intent. It locked squarely onto Ma Shan.

Ma Shan froze mid-step. The incredibly sharp pressure pressing down on him made him halt immediately.

"Go to the tribunal? Fine! Surrender now and come with me!"

Gu You sighed internally. "Commander Ma, don't you think you should consider the consequences if I actually am a Major General?"

"If you're a Major General, then I'm the Marshal of the Federation!" Ma Shan snorted. "Save your breath. You think a fancy little needle like that can hurt me?"

As he spoke, Ma Shan raised his iron-blackened palm and slammed it toward Gu You's spear light. Black light shimmered over his skin, and eight spirit rings rose from beneath his feet.

Gu You didn't hesitate. He flashed away, exiting the forging workshop in a blink.

Just as he stepped onto the snowy grounds outside, Ma Shan burst through the wall behind him like a battering ram. His fists, as heavy as iron hammers, came crashing down.

Gu You had been trying to avoid conflict, but enough was enough. As a newly promoted Major General, he needed to establish his authority. Kindness was one thing, but weakness was another. And in the military, strength reigned supreme.

With a cold glint in his eye, he raised the Golden Dragon Spear and blocked the incoming blow.

A booming explosion echoed across the area.

Snow within a hundred-meter radius was blasted into the air. The fierce shockwave even forced Long Yuxue, who had tried to follow them, to retreat back into the workshop.

Gu You's feet sank into the ground, while Ma Shan was flung away by the rebound, shock flashing across his face.

"You punk! Try another one!"

Thrilled by the clash, Ma Shan roared. His muscles glowed with radiant light, and his arms transformed into steel hammers as he lunged again.

Purple dragon scales emerged on Gu You's skin. His power spiked exponentially. With a swift motion, he spun and stabbed with his spear.

This time, Ma Shan was thrown back more than three meters.

The blow rattled him, and for the first time in years, he felt a serious threat. His pride burned, and he no longer held back. Two spirit rings lit up—his first and third. A steel-like layer formed over his skin as his body expanded again. Now over twelve meters tall, he rivaled a full-size close-combat mecha.

His fists ballooned in size, each one wider than a meter, and he slammed them toward Gu You with earth-shattering force.

Gu You's eyes narrowed. With a snort, he released a simple but devastating Dragon Fist.

BOOM!

Inside the workshop, Long Yuxue had already attempted to rush out three times but was repelled each time by the violent airflow.

The pressure only intensified with each clash. Though anxious, she was helpless to intervene.

Suddenly, the front wall of the forging workshop exploded inward.

A massive body wreathed in shimmering purple light crashed through, knocking over two racks of rare metals and leaving a deep human-shaped crater in the floor.

Long Yuxue was frozen for a moment. Then she clapped her hand over her mouth.

"That's... Commander Ma?!"

"Commander... are you okay?"

Outside, Gu You stood there with a resigned shrug. The golden star on his shoulder gleamed brightly.

Long Yuxue stared at the glowing star, briefly entranced.

The sound of boots crunching on snow rang out—military tribunal personnel arrived in force.

Ma Shan struggled to his feet. He looked a sorry sight—his uniform shredded during his transformation, his chest marked by a massive fist print, and scratches on his bald head where tufts of hair had been torn away.

Seeing the tribunal officers, Ma Shan deactivated his martial soul and returned to his normal form. His face was twisted with frustration—and disbelief.

What had just happened completely overturned his expectations.

The officer leading the tribunal was a Colonel. Upon spotting Gu You, standing tall and firm with the Golden Dragon Spear in hand, he paused in surprise.

The young man in uniform, with his commanding aura and striking appearance, was instantly eye-catching.

Then he noticed the glowing star on Gu You's shoulder.

His expression changed instantly.

'A Major General?'

His reaction mirrored Ma Shan's earlier disbelief. But unlike Ma Shan, this Colonel had better self-control.

He floated over, landed before Gu You, and snapped to attention.

"Major General!"

Gu You returned the salute with a nod.

Long Yuxue let out a breath she hadn't realized she was holding. The worst had been avoided.

And Ma Shan? He stood to the side, scratching his head in frustration. For once, the Ironblood Commander was at a total loss.
