"But that won't last," Gu You replied calmly. "The shortage of resources is the real issue. Even if the Sun Moon Federation doesn't unify the Douluo plane, future wars between nations are inevitable. It's not just us who are lacking resources—the other two empires are running dry too. Only by uniting all three empires under a larger federal government can we consolidate the remaining resources and fully invest in aerospace technology. That would be the only path left for the Douluo Plane. Only then can we truly reach into deep space, in search of sustainable resources and energy."
Xue Yi was briefly stunned. He looked at Gu You, visibly shaken. This child's words startled him in a way he hadn't expected. He couldn't find a way to refute them.
With a bitter smile, Xue Yi shook his head. "I suppose... you're the one strong enough to bear that responsibility. But even so, your duty isn't limited to just that. Do you know why?"
Gu You shook his head.
Xue Yi said softly, "For six thousand years, the Blood God Legion has guarded the Abyssal Passage, preventing the Abyss Plane from invading our Douluo Continent. One generation after another, countless soldiers of the Blood God Legion gave their lives for one shared dream—to permanently eliminate the threat of the Abyss. But for six thousand years, no one has found a solution. No one even found a viable method to truly face the Abyss… until your appearance."
He looked at Gu You deeply.
"Your Golden Dragon Spear—it may be the key to resolving the threat from the Abyss. If we truly succeed, you won't just be a hero of the Federation. You'll be the savior of the Douluo Plane. And that means your responsibility will be far greater than you think. What you must do—no one can teach you. As your senior, I can guide you now… but your future, Gu You, must be in your own hands."
Eliminating the Abyss Plane?
Gu You furrowed his brow but gave a slight nod. Somewhere deep inside, he had sensed it too—there was more he was meant to do.
The final match had finally arrived.
After a storm of crisis management and PR, the Star Dou Battle Network managed to turn public sentiment back in favor of the highly anticipated final round.
The Soul Master Finals: Purple-Gold King vs. Power King! There was no doubt—this was going to be one of the most spectacular matches in history.
Despite the past accidents, no one would truly die inside the Star Dou Battle Network. This time, the Federation government had directly issued guarantees: there would be no risks in the final round. If anything went wrong, the Federation would compensate all affected participants and viewers handsomely.
As a result, the venue was packed. Every single seat was filled to the brim. The broadcast ratings broke all previous records across the entire Federation.
Inside the rest area, Gu You sat cross-legged, quietly meditating. He adjusted his breath, entering his optimal state. The Purple-Gold Dragon God Halberd floated beside him, enveloped in a faint light. His essence, energy, and spirit naturally reached their peak.
"Time's up, Purple-Gold King," a staff member called softly.
Gu You slowly opened his eyes, calmly rose, and grasped his halberd.
Ahead of him was the gate leading to the battle stage. As he looked at the hallway underfoot and the door that awaited him, an odd sense of clarity filled his heart—indescribable but unmistakable, as if something had clicked inside him.
One step forward—and the deafening roar of the crowd exploded in his ears.
Cheers of "Purple-Gold King!" and "Power King!" echoed like thunder across the stadium.
At the opposite entrance, a towering figure emerged—A Ruheng, built like a moving mountain. The two locked eyes across the battlefield. Though facial expressions were masked by the system, A Ruheng raised his arm high, giving Gu You a firm thumbs-up.
In response, Gu You lifted his Purple-Gold Dragon God Halberd and saluted back.
…
In front of a massive soul-screen broadcast, Mu Ye stood close enough to feel the faint static buzz against his skin.
Behind him sat Divine Blacksmith Zhen Hua and the Sacred Craftsman Mu Chen.
Compared to Mu Ye, the two elders appeared calm and composed.
Mu Chen sipped tea slowly and asked Zhen Hua beside him, "You think he'll be okay?"
Zhen Hua chuckled. "He's just excited. After all, the Body Sect has been in decline for centuries. As the sect leader of this generation, how could he not be emotional? This Federation-wide tournament is a big deal. And his disciple made it to the finals—of course he's emotional."
He glanced at Mu Ye, who stood still in front of the screen.
"Hey!" Zhen Hua called out, "If Gu You wins, are you going to cry?"
"Get lost!" Mu Ye snapped without turning around.
But Zhen Hua could clearly hear it—the emotion in his voice, tinged with a tremble.
Zhen Hua smiled again. "You really think your disciple can win?"
Mu Ye remained silent for a long moment before replying softly, "It depends on how much progress Gu You has made these past few years. If he's advanced far enough, A Ruheng can't win. But if the improvement was small, then A Ruheng will be favored. I myself would struggle to beat him without armor."
Zhen Hua smirked. "I don't see it that way. My disciple should win this easily."
"Why do you think that?" Mu Ye snapped.
Zhen Hua shrugged. "Why not? We watched all his matches. Tell me—how much effort do you think Gu You really used in the previous rounds? That last fight against the Blade Demon—how did that end? Blade Demon just… quit. You think he did that out of mercy? Compared to that guy, is A Ruheng really that much stronger?"
Mu Ye huffed. "That Blade Demon may have awakened his Blade Soul, but the Body Sect's Innate Tempering Secret Technique makes the body itself a spirit. He's not on the same level."
Zhen Hua chuckled. "But not far off, right?"
Mu Ye fell silent again.
Yes, not far off… but still enough to make him feel bitter. The Body Sect had slumbered for centuries—and now that they finally had a chance to shine, they were about to be overshadowed again. By a monster like Gu You.
How frustrating.
…
On the competition stage, the two figures stood motionless, gazing at each other from afar.
Gu You held his Purple-Gold Dragon God Halberd, glowing faintly, while A Ruheng—though masked—radiated a crushing aura simply by standing still.
"Final match. Five… four… three… two… one. Begin!"
The mechanical voice echoed, and a referee appeared between them. With a wave of his hand, the match began.
Gu You and A Ruheng moved at the same time.
A Ruheng stepped forward with his right foot. Instantly, his body erupted in a burst of sound—muscles expanding like an explosion.
Gu You had seen it in videos before, but this time was different.
He could feel it. The power bursting from A Ruheng's body was terrifying. Even from hundreds of meters away, the oppressive pressure surged toward him.
In response, Gu You's Dragon Core reacted instinctively, pulsing faster, compressing with every beat…
