Chapter 38 - Chapter 38: Phoenix Flame and Shadow Wrath

Through the shattered gate of stars,

Where destinies bear silent scars,

The Celestial Meet now reached its crest,

With fire and fury in each test.

And Lin Xun stood, a burning dawn,

His path of blood and glory drawn.

The whispers rose from every peak—

This youth from ash, whose will was sleek.

> "Who bears the wrath of ancient flame?"

"What sect gave birth to such a name?"

Yet shadows moved behind the veil,

With hidden fangs prepared to flail.

From the pavilion of the Moonveil Sect,

Yun Haoran stood with poise unchecked.

Phoenix robes of embered thread,

Crowned his form with rising dread.

He gazed upon the battling field,

And scoffed at Lin Xun's blade and shield.

> "His light flickers, though it burns bright…

It will not last beyond this night."

Beside him stood Ji Fengyan tall,

Violet lightning wreathed his call.

Mu Lian hummed a haunting song,

Her gaze unread, her tone like wrong.

> "He's flame, but you are sun," said she,

"Still… be warned, some fires bend decree."

Back at Skyrect's station high,

Xu Qingxue stood with distant eye.

Her hand clutched tight a jade-born flute,

Her gaze on Lin Xun—calm, yet mute.

> "He stands alone, yet skies comply,

And still you walk to pierce the sky…"

She turned to Elder Crane of lore,

A master sage of thousand yore.

> "Is he ready?" she asked at last.

"To fight a phoenix forged from past?"

The elder stroked his beard of white,

And spoke as stars began their flight.

> "The boy is storm, not yet full tide,

But every god was first denied.

Let Haoran mock or seek to smite—

He'll find the flame does not take flight."

On the field, as horns now rang,

A duel announced with thunder's bang.

Yun Haoran's name was called aloud,

And next, the crowd began to shout—

> "LIN XUN!"

A silence fell upon the crowd,

A tension thick, a pause unbowed.

Two names to clash in roaring war,

Where gods might bow and demons soar.

They met upon the Heaven Stage,

No place for fear, no room for age.

A platform built on sacred stone,

With seals from realms now overthrown.

Yun Haoran's steps were pure and light,

Each stride a blaze of phoenix might.

His sword—a plume of burning sun—

Had slayed a beast of Immortal One.

> "You've risen far, young flame of ash…

But here, your sparks will end in crash."

Lin Xun, unfazed, with saber drawn,

Stood like a dawn where hope is born.

> "You speak of fire, but know not pain—

I burned through grief and bore the rain.

I rise not for a sect's acclaim,

But for a truth beyond all name."

The world hushed still.

Then—

CLASH!

The phoenix blade met crimson steel,

As air and sky began to reel.

Each strike released a tidal quake,

The world itself began to shake.

Fire raged and flamelets flew,

As combat broke the firmament blue.

Lin Xun spun, his footwork pure,

His strikes like ghosts—untouched, obscure.

Haoran grinned with wicked pride,

His sword released a solar tide.

> "Kneel, child of humble earth!

Witness now your measure's worth!"

But Lin Xun roared, his saber flared,

A dragon's howl, all doubt declared.

With steps that danced the blazing art,

He pierced the phoenix, heart to heart.

Blood spilled, though none did fall—

Their breaths like storms, their stares like maul.

The match was stopped by ruling call,

Before one could strike the final haul.

> "Enough!"

A judge from Heaven's ancient fold,

Spoke words that thunder did behold.

> "This trial ends—a tie declared,

For further clash would leave all bared."

The crowd exhaled, unsure, amazed,

For none had seen such fury blazed.

Yun Haoran, teeth grit with shame,

Felt pride and anger stoke his flame.

Lin Xun just sheathed his saber's core,

And turned, like waves upon the shore.

> "I'll see you when the stars align…

And then, no judge shall stay the line."

That night, as flames of lanterns rose,

A vision came while Lin Xun dozed.

He stood within a burning field,

Where ancient beasts refused to yield.

And from the ash, a voice arose—

Like thunder wound in lover's prose.

> "Child of fire and broken throne,

Your path's not walked by you alone.

Rise beyond this bounded plane,

Reclaim the blood that bore your name."

A sigil formed within his chest,

A burning crest of dragon's crest.

It pulsed with power, old and wild,

A legacy, long exiled.

He awoke in silent, sweating dread,

And touched his heart with hands like lead.

> "What are you?" he whispered low.

"What secret do these veins not show?"

But no answer came, just fire's hum,

A lullaby of what's to come.

Meanwhile, deep in Ghost Fang Marsh,

A sect with roots in soil harsh,

Received a scroll with Lin Xun's face,

And set their blades to claim the race.

> "This boy shall die before he g

rows—

The seed must fall ere blossom shows."

And so the wheel of fate turned round,

With ghosts and kings now battle-bound.

For Lin Xun's name now lit the skies,

And threatened truths built deep in lies.
