Chapter 24 - Chapter 24: The Way to Prove Friendship with Artoria

"Did Mother really leave?"

In the room, Uathach played with the magic cauldron in her hands, stroking it as if it were a cat, her eyes fixed on Asher as she asked.

"Yeah, Shishou said it would probably take about half a month to come back," Asher finally said, sighing helplessly.

"We didn't even need to go to the trouble of preparing those things. I feel like I haven't even fully digested the black dragon essence blood yet."

Although she said that, Asher was also very clear that the black dragon essence blood would probably completely integrate with his body in about another half a month. At that time, he would most likely still need the essence blood of other creatures to improve his physical fitness, and such integration would only make it easier for him to enter a combat power overload state.

Scáthach had left because she already knew this.

"Shishou is really good to me…" Asher couldn't help but sigh. He then noticed that the girl sitting opposite him hadn't made a sound the whole time. He curiously raised his head and saw Uathach lowering her head, muttering something, looking quite disappointed.

"Big Sister, are you okay?" Asher patted Uathach's shoulder, asking with concern.

Although she usually seemed so cheerful and optimistic, Scáthach was, after all, going on a long trip for the first time. Her own mother suddenly leaving for half a month would understandably be a big blow to Uathach at this time.

I must take good care of Big Sister during these two weeks!

Looking at the purple-haired girl in front of him, Asher secretly made up his mind.

At this moment, Uathach lowered her head, but her eyes held a hidden joy.

With Mother gone, there was no one in the Land of Shadows who could control her... This also meant that no one could stop her from doing whatever she wanted. Even if she wanted to sleep in Ash's room at night, no one would make her leave.

"Ash…" Uathach suddenly called Asher's name, her tone sounding very disappointed.

"What's wrong? Is there anything you need my help with, Big Sister? No matter what it is, I will definitely help you!" Asher said earnestly. "As long as I can do it."

"It's not that, what are you thinking?" Uathach waved her small hand, then grabbed Asher's hand. "With Mother gone, doesn't that mean Big Sister can do whatever she wants?"

Asher was taken aback. "...What do you mean?"

Uathach pushed Asher onto the bed. "What do you think?"

A strand of purple hair slipped from Uathach's shoulder, brushing across Asher's cheek, tickling him and carrying a certain fragrance.

Her pink lips parted and closed, full of temptation. The moist eyes that looked at Asher were filled with strange emotions.

"Shishou?!" Asher's pupils suddenly widened as he looked towards the door.

Uathach sat up straight in an instant, straightened her collar, then turned her head towards the door. "Mother, didn't you already leave…"

Her voice stopped abruptly.

The doorway was empty.

"Good for you, Ash, you even dare to lie to your Big Sister! You've got quite the nerve!" Uathach turned her head to look at Asher, just preparing to give him a small punishment, but found that Asher, who had just been lying on the bed, had disappeared at some point.

"Big Sister, even though Shishou isn't here, I still have to train, so I'll go first," After Asher finished speaking, without giving Uathach time to react, he disappeared from the room in a flash.

"Hey! Come back! I'll definitely make you pay! You'll regret this!" Uathach ran quickly to the door, but Asher had already disappeared from her sight.

She simply sat down at the door, propped her chin up, raised her head to look at the clear blue sky in front of her, and muttered to herself, "Who said Big Sister wouldn't be lonely, Ash?"

Some things didn't need to be shown on the face to be sad. Scáthach's departure was a huge blow to the girl, but she wouldn't show it, because she didn't want to show her weak side in front of Asher.

A Big Sister should look like a Big Sister... although he didn't seem to treat her as a Big Sister either.

---

Asher arrived at the forest where he used to train with Scáthach. Morgan le Fay, who usually watched his training from a certain big tree, didn't appear today.

Clearly, Morgan le Fay had probably guessed that Asher wouldn't appear these past few days, so she hadn't come over here either.

After all, she had helped Asher escape the black dragon's attack that day. She probably also knew that he possessed the black dragon's essence blood, and when it fused with his body, there would be a certain period of seclusion.

Asher left the Trial Forest and walked in another direction.

It had been two weeks. He wondered if Artoria was still on that small island...

Asher felt a bit apologetic and decided that if he saw her, he would apologize.

Asher arrived in front of the small island. When he reached the shore, the Trial Bridge, which would always automatically appear when he reached the shore, didn't appear this time.

"Strange... what's going on with this bridge? Could it be that its duration has finally ended?" Asher couldn't help but mutter to himself, looking at the sea in front of him, and decisively jumped in.

With his current physical strength, and with the enhancement of Rune magic, swimming the distance of a bridge wasn't very difficult, only climbing onto the small island would be a bit tiring.

After spending nearly an hour, Asher finally climbed onto the small island, shook the wet hair on his head, and walked forward.

The sea was turbulent, and waves mixed with fresh sea breeze brushed against his face. Asher took off his shoes, walked barefoot on the beach, searching for Artoria's aura.

At this moment, a gust of sword wind suddenly attacked. Asher reacted quickly, raising the spear in his hand to block the slash.

Clang!

As if sparks lit up, the spear and sword collided, making a pleasant sound. Asher raised his hand, and the red spear pierced towards the attacker. This red spear was given to him by Scáthach, and like Scáthach's own weapon, it was known as the Spear of Impaling Barbs. Once it struck, it would make the enemy suffer unspeakable pain.

But the person was clearly an expert. When the spear pierced towards the attacker, the other party immediately raised the shield in their left hand. The spear slid along the hard shield, leaving a shallow mark on it. Asher's right foot uncontrollably took a step forward, and at this moment, the long sword was already against his neck.

"Who are you?" A slightly hoarse voice sounded. The sharp eyes that looked at Asher revealed a cold gleam.

Asher raised his head to look. The other person was wearing a suit of armor, looking slightly old, but it was hard to hide his heroic spirit. One could imagine that this knight had possessed the beauty to captivate countless young girls when he was young, and even in his old age, he still had an extraordinary temperament.

"You wouldn't know even if I told you... but I'm here to find Artoria," Asher released his weapon, raised his hands, indicating that he had no malicious intent. "If I'm not mistaken, you should be the foster father she often mentions, Sir Ector, right?"

Ector still didn't release the sword against Asher's neck, but the look in his eyes softened slightly. "You are that child's friend? Why have I never seen you before?"

"Uh... I came from the other side of the island. I met Artoria by chance before," Asher explained.

But Ector's eyes were still wary. "What proof do you have?"

"Artoria usually works very seriously, she has golden hair and emerald eyes..." Asher tried to prove himself.

Ector shook his head. "Those words are too general and lack credibility."

Asher paused slightly. "Also, she has a very big appetite."

Ector released the sword in his hand, his expression somewhat strange. "It seems you really are that child's friend."
