----------------------------------------------------------
Land of Shadows.
This is a country surrounded by natural barriers. Occasionally, unknown giant shadows circle in the sky; these are mostly demonic beasts dwelling nearby, though some are just passing through.
Uathach raised her spear, chanting something, and an ice shard shot out from beside her, attacking a griffon that happened to be passing by in mid-air.
This was an adult griffon. When the ice shard pierced its body, only a trace of blood oozed out. It turned its head to look at the enemy that had attacked it without provocation, letting out a terrifying roar.
It turned and lunged at Uathach, but just as its sharp talons were about to strike the girl, its attack stopped abruptly.
Its sharp beast eyes scanned the woman behind Uathach. This woman hadn't moved from the start, but the griffon's animalistic alertness immediately made it realize a strong sense of danger.
"Mom, I told you not to come so early. This completely defeats the purpose of actual combat training," Uathach turned to complain to the woman behind her, her eyes filled with dissatisfaction.
"You're not quite ready for training in this kind of place yet." Scathach shook her head, glancing at the few demonic beasts in the sky. "It's good enough if you can handle one demonic beast right now. If there are two or more, you'll easily be in danger."
Uathach plopped down onto the griffon's back, her purple hair gently fluttering in the wind. She turned to look at the vast sky. "If Ash were here, we could handle at least three or more demonic beasts by now."
"When will I see him again?" Uathach sighed again.
"He'll be back soon. What you need to do now is train hard." Scathach looked at Uathach with fondness, gently rubbing her head. "You wouldn't want him to leave you far behind in strength later, would you?"
"That's true, but," Uathach stroked the griffon's head, "I still really want to see him. He's my fiancƩ, yet he's now a king in another country. Isn't that too strange?"
Under Uathach's petting, the griffon actually lowered its head, looking very docile, like a cat.
"Oh, right, if I marry Ash later, will it count as a marriage alliance between two countries?!" Uathach suddenly turned to look at Scathach.
"Right, Mom?"
Scathach's expression froze, then she quietly nodded, "I suppose so."
While that was true, according to her apprentice's previous words, he would probably find a way to return to the Land of Shadows once Britain was stable.
"But Ash doesn't seem to have much interest in that King Arthur. He'll probably find a way to come back after handling the affairs of state," Uathach changed the subject.
"And by the time Ash comes back, a year or two would have passed, right? He'll be almost an adult then, and we can get married."
As Uathach finished speaking, she looked at her mother innocently. "What do you think, Mom?"
For some reason, although it was just a question, Uathach's purple eyes looking at Scathach seemed to carry other emotions.
Scathach nodded silently, saying with a composed expression, "I will arrange your marriage after he comes of age."
"I'm so happy, thank you, Mom." Uathach showed a happy smile.
"I raised you myself, and that child has been with me for over five years. So if you two are truly in love, I naturally won't stop you," Scathach smiled faintly, her fingers stroking Uathach's hair.
"However, it's necessary to discern whether it's familial affection or romantic love." Scathach warned.
"Please rest assured about that. My feelings for Ash are a mix of both," Uathach said. "But I don't know about his feelings."
"But it doesn't matter. As long as we're together, he'll eventually fall in love with me."
Listening to Uathach's confident words, Scathach was silent for a while. "As long as it's like that, I also hope you two can live happily."
"Hmm... I think so too. But Mom is very biased. You often went to chat with Ash at night," Uathach sighed at this. "I never had that kind of treatment. You're so good to Ash."
As she finished speaking, she looked up at Scathach, thought for a moment, and grabbed her hand.
"Mom, why don't you marry Ash when the time comes? That way, even if Ash and I get married later, we can still be with you."
"What are you talking about?" Scathach frowned, her eyes colder than usual.
"He's my apprentice. That would completely mess up the hierarchy."
But Uathach seemed not to notice the cold gaze, smiling faintly.
"Because Ash likes Mom very much. Sometimes I wonder if he has feelings for Mom that go beyond those of a Shishou and apprentice."
"If he really likes Mom that much, I wouldn't mind sharing Ash with Mom."
"What do you think?" She looked at Scathach.
"Mom likes Ash too, right? Since that's the case, marry him when he comes back... Hmm, I should say, marry him? But it's not suitable for the Queen of the Land of Shadows to marry out. Perhaps it's better to marry him in? Then I'll just marry Mom." Uathach smiled sweetly, burying her face in Scathach's embrace and rubbing against her.
"That way, we can always be together."
"Mom, are you also tempted?" Uathach looked up at Scathach. "You haven't said anything since just now. Are you considering my proposal?"
Scathach snapped back to reality, her mouth slightly open, about to speak. At this moment, a voice suddenly came from outside.
"Lady Scathach, a letter from Britain!" The castle guard knelt on one knee before Scathach, saying respectfully.
"Britain?" Scathach turned to look at the guard. "Bring the letter here."
It was called a letter, but in reality, it was carved from a piece of pitch-black wood. The black wood looked very thin, like a card, and there was a very obvious magical power fluctuation on it.
Clearly, the sender had deliberately used some method to "seal" the "letter" to some extent, making it difficult to decipher easily.
Scathach held the pitch-black card in her hand. "You may leave first."
Only after the guard retreated did Scathach pick up the card and quickly decipher the information it contained.
"Whose message is it? Is it Ash?"
Uathach seemed to have forgotten what she had just said, curiously moving closer to Scathach, craning her neck to look at the letter the guard had handed to Scathach.
But obviously, she saw nothing.
Because the card contained an image, which disappeared after entering Scathach's mind.
In that image, Scathach saw Asher, and then Morgan Le Fay's voice, which sounded full of mockery.
"In five days, I will host a ball. At that time, there will probably be many people who want to assassinate King Arthur. Of course, I'm not here to invite you to help. Come or not, please yourself."
Morgan Le Fay's finger stroked the faint mark on Asher's neck.
"This is a mark left by someone else. If I don't see you in Britain in five days, to prevent him from being 'stolen' one day..."
She kissed Asher on the lips.
"I'll have to start after the ball, won't I?"
"Ah, by the way, you can rest assured for now, that child is still busy with other things. This is just an illusion I created," Morgan snapped her fingers, and the boy who had just been standing in front of Scathach suddenly disappeared.
"However, next time it won't be an illusion," Morgan Le Fay said with a smile.
Scathach's fingers subconsciously tightened around the pitch-black wooden block in her hand. The black wooden block, which looked as strong as steel, developed cracks in her hand and finally completely shattered.
"Mom?" Uathach blinked, looking at Scathach with confusion.
She couldn't quite understand why her usually calm mother was showing such anger now. Even when facing great enemies, she rarely saw her get this angry.
"Do you want to see your little brother early?" Scathach suddenly asked.
"Eh?" Uathach blinked, the previous confusion on her face slowly turning into surprise.
"Can I really?"
"Ah, of course." Scathach handed the thin but incredibly sturdy pitch-black card to Uathach.
"Take this. No one will stop you from entering Britain."
This was Morgan's letter and also an invitation. With it, even the castle guards would let her pass.
"In five days, I will also come to find you two." Scathach turned to look at Uathach, her magnificent red eyes seemingly holding literal flames, making people look at her with awe.
"Before that... don't let that woman easily approach your little brother again."
