Clearly, as a high-ranking demon and a subordinate of Demon Lord Clayman, Rimuru didn't believe her role was limited to simply delivering information.
There had to be more.
With that thought, the atmosphere in the laboratory tightened. Sitting on the sofa, Rimuru tapped the table lightly with his fingers, again and again, his mind racing as he replayed the situation and constructed possibility after possibility.
"Don't worry about it for now," Emiya Shirou said calmly. "At present, her task is most likely to gather information about us."
He paused briefly, then continued.
"At least, that's what she believes."
Rimuru looked up.
"What happens next depends entirely on Clayman," Emiya Shirou went on. "Given his personality, there's no way he'd tell all his plans to a subordinate whose heart he's holding hostage."
After summarizing his understanding of Clayman, Emiya Shirou turned fully toward Rimuru, his tone becoming more serious.
"Even if she's being manipulated, it won't affect your next move. I'll handle things here. You can focus on saving the children."
"You don't need to hesitate."
"Shirou..."
Rimuru looked at him, emotion surging unexpectedly.
To be honest, ever since learning the truth, he had been trapped in a dilemma. The children's condition couldn't wait. But the companions in Emiya City mattered just as much.
If necessary, he had been prepared to abandon the children and focus on the looming Demon Lord threat.
But if even one child died because of that decision, he knew he would regret it for the rest of his life.
Emiya Shirou's words had cut through that deadlock completely.
They freed him.
That alone was enough to leave Rimuru deeply moved.
But Emiya Shirou didn't let the moment linger.
"Don't relax just yet," he said. "Do you remember our earlier discussion?"
"About the one called Laplace."
Rimuru's expression shifted instantly.
"...Laplace?"
Then it clicked.
"You mean how he said he wasn't a monster?"
"Exactly," Emiya Shirou replied.
"If Laplace truly isn't a monster, then the Moderate Harlequin Alliance may have deep connections in the human world."
His gaze sharpened.
"In that case, they might target you directly."
"Target me...?"
Rimuru stiffened.
The realization hit immediately.
Unlike the monster world, the human world was dangerous territory for him. His identity alone was a ticking bomb. While a few people already knew the truth, they had their reasons for keeping silent.
But if someone with ill intent exposed him-
If his existence was reported to the Western Holy Church-
The consequences would be severe.
That organization despised monsters. Their stance wasn't coexistence.
It was eradication.
"And don't forget," Emiya Shirou continued evenly, "your battle with Benimaru against the Orc Disaster was recorded."
"And that mask," he added, tapping his own face lightly, "is what completely conceals your magicules."
He looked directly at Rimuru.
"If Clayman truly has influence in the human world, they could track you quickly. From this point on, you need to be vigilant."
"I understand," Rimuru said, nodding seriously.
"I'll stay alert at all times."
"That's good," Emiya Shirou replied, leaning back against the sofa. "Normally, you're far too careless."
He waved his hand casually.
"Now that you know everything, go handle what you need to do next."
"Don't waste any more time."
He smiled faintly.
"Aren't you becoming a teacher tomorrow?"
"...Ah!"
Rimuru straightened immediately.
"You're right!"
He stood and bowed slightly.
"You've really helped me, Shirou."
"Then I'll be going."
"Go," Emiya Shirou said. "Be careful."
"Yes, Lord Rimuru," Shuna added from the side, her expression full of concern. "Please be careful."
"Don't worry," Rimuru replied with a confident wave. "I'm very vigilant now."
With that, he left the laboratory.
The door closed softly behind him.
Shuna hesitated, then turned toward Emiya Shirou.
"...Lord Emiya," she asked quietly, "will Lord Rimuru be in danger?"
Emiya Shirou smiled, completely unbothered.
"Don't worry. I've prepared plenty of things for him. He won't be."
Then his expression sharpened slightly.
"And Shuna, there's something important."
"Yes?"
"You must not tell anyone else about this."
"Eh?" Shuna blinked. "Not even Brother Benimaru?"
"No," Emiya Shirou replied flatly. "If Benimaru and Shion find out, they'll insist on guarding Rimuru personally."
"And then I'd have to spend a lot of effort calming them down."
He added one more thing.
"And don't tell anyone about Myulan either. We can't alert the enemy."
"Those two are reckless," he said frankly. "And terrible at acting. They'd expose everything immediately."
"...Yes, Lord Emiya."
Shuna nodded, though anxiety still lingered in her heart.
The threat of a Demon Lord was not something she could ignore.
But as she looked at Emiya Shirou reclining calmly on the sofa, completely composed, that anxiety slowly faded.
Yes.
With Lord Emiya here, there was nothing they couldn't overcome.
She placed a hand over her chest, reassuring herself silently.
After that incident, Emiya Shirou once again immersed himself in magical research.
Although he had gained a great deal of new knowledge, the space magic capable of housing living beings remained incomplete.
To be honest, he didn't even have a clear direction yet.
Rimuru's ability was a unique skill.
A personal miracle.
But Emiya Shirou was researching magic.
That meant something entirely different.
If successful, it would be a transferable system. A reproducible spell.
Creating space capable of containing living beings was, in essence, the creation of a small world.
Turning such a miracle into magic was unimaginably difficult.
Of course, magic wasn't his only option.
He had other ideas.
For example-awakening his own miracle.
After all, he was a Hero.
But even to draw out a miracle, he would need a catalyst.
And the reason Emiya Shirou continued his research without pause was simple.
His skill, Super Intuition, told him that somewhere in this world, the answer existed.
He trusted that feeling completely.
And so, immersed in endless experimentation, time passed quietly.
During this period, Rimuru did return occasionally, but never stayed long. He had already discovered the entrance to the Spirit Realm and was leading his students there to seek the aid of greater spirits.
At the same time, surveillance on Myulan continued without interruption.
And behind the scenes, the two of them had already prepared multiple contingency plans centered around her.
Everything was moving.
Slowly.
Inevitably.
