Chapter 115 - The Hidden Trial Chamber

The dark fog that once masked the corridor behind the Arch of Greed began to dissipate, revealing a narrow stone staircase spiraling downward into a cavernous void. Ren Zian stood at its mouth, still half-dressed, Lyra's warmth lingering on his skin. Her fingers tightened around his as they both looked down into the abyss.

"What is this place?" Lyra whispered.

Ren's Chaos Mark pulsed faintly. [New Domain Unlocked: The Hidden Trial Chamber. Objective: Survive and Claim the Key of Submission.]

He nodded. "It's another test. But it feels... different."

This wasn't like the earlier domains where power and violence reigned supreme. There was a cold presence here—like the domain itself was sentient, watching their every move.

They descended in silence.

As they reached the bottom, the walls changed—no longer rough stone, but reflective obsidian. Hundreds of mirrored panels lined the room, each showing flickering versions of Ren—some triumphant, others twisted and bloodstained.

Then a voice echoed through the chamber.

"To lead the gods, one must first submit to his own truth."

Suddenly, the mirrors shimmered, and out of them stepped a figure identical to Ren, except his Chaos Mark glowed crimson.

"Another mimic?" Ren asked, his tone sharp.

Lyra stepped forward, her petals floating protectively. "No... this one isn't just mimicking. He is your reflection. The part you deny."

The doppelgänger smirked. "I am what you'd become if you abandoned all of them. If you cast away Lyra and the rest. If you stopped caring."

The clone raised his hand. A wave of crimson energy surged toward them.

Ren shoved Lyra aside and took the brunt of the impact. He stumbled back, eyes burning with pain.

"He's faster," Ren muttered. "And brutal."

Lyra's voice was shaky but resolute. "Then we don't beat him with brute strength. We do it the one way he'll never understand—through connection."

The clone moved again, but this time, Lyra's vines intercepted him, slowing his attack. Ren dashed forward, locking blades with the doppelgänger. The two struggled, their Chaos energies clashing and creating sparks of gold and red.

The mirrored Ren laughed. "She's holding you back."

Ren's eyes narrowed. "No. She grounds me."

With a swift shift of momentum, Ren allowed himself to fall backward, dragging his mirror with him into one of the obsidian panels. The panel cracked, and the mirror-self screamed, flickering violently.

Ren stood and raised his palm, calling Lyra's hand into his. "Together."

Their Chaos Marks pulsed in sync. A beam of green and gold light surged toward the fragmented mirror. The clone exploded in a blast of corrupted mist.

Silence returned to the chamber.

But something shifted beneath them. The ground trembled, then split, revealing a pedestal on which lay a small obsidian cube—floating, glowing with soft purple runes.

You have obtained: Key of Submission.

Ren picked it up. "We need this to enter the next palace wing."

As they exited the chamber, the walls of obsidian began to collapse behind them, and the staircase sealed itself shut.

Back inside the safe chamber, Ren sat down, sweat still clinging to his brow.

Lyra knelt beside him, cupping his face. "You fought the darkest part of yourself. And you didn't lose who you are."

He leaned into her palm. "You saved me from losing sight of why I fight. Why I want to win."

Lyra leaned closer. "Then let me remind you again."

She kissed him, not like earlier—this time it was slow, intentional. Their connection deepened beyond the thrill of battle. Her divine essence wrapped around him like a bloom in full flourish. She guided him to the floor, her petals falling around them like soft rain. Their skin met with urgency and tenderness all at once.

Ren breathed against her lips, "You're not just my partner in battle."

She moaned softly. "And you're not just a conqueror."

Their bodies moved in unison—no longer rushed or reactive but full of intent, need, and recognition. Lyra whispered divine words in his ear, a chant known only to the Goddesses of Bloom, and Ren's Chaos Mark responded—swirling into a new shape, glowing with quiet power.

As the afterglow settled around them, Lyra curled against him, her breaths slowing. "I'll never let you fall, Ren."

He brushed her hair aside and kissed her forehead. "I know. And I'll never let you go."

Outside, the corridor shifted again, revealing three doors—each marked with strange symbols. The next path was ready.

But now, Ren walked it not as a fragmented soul—but as one who had accepted both his darkness and his devotion.
