A heated blush spread over Chloe’s cheeks and the corners of her mouth. Damien’s breathing became labored as he gazed at her eyes, filled with tears of indignation, as they bore into his with a fierce intensity.
“Is it the way of House Thisse to utter such vulgarities to a queen?”
“Do not lecture me. It is infuriating to be treated like a child,” Damien snapped back. With a sudden, forceful pull at her waist, he drew her close, and Chloe found herself trapped by his unyielding embrace.
“I have lived far longer than you.”
