Chapter 28 - 28

"I thought you took me here to get away from everyone else, including the person you are talking about. If you don't stop I'm getting out of the water." She told him.

Bunny did think this was a lovely place to swim, but Rome was definitely ruining whatever moment he was trying to create with her. Not listening to a word she said, he continued.

"I'm serious. The way that bastard looks at you is going to get his teeth smashed in by me soon." He kept going, as he tread water.

"Alright! I'm done!" Bunny quickly swam to the shallow end, walked out of the water and got to the shore. She found her shorts and shoes. She quickly began to get dressed. Bunny looked out and saw Rome still in the water. He still looked angry.

"Are you f*king srious!" He barked.

Bunny crossed her arms in front of her and tapped her left foot on the ground in sheer annoyance.

"Yes ! I am ! I told you to stop talking about Baxter. I'm leaving you here. I don't care if I get lost. It's a small island. How lost can I get?" She asked him rhetorically. She turned and began to walk away into the jungle.

She could hear Rome calling her, "Bunny ! Bunny! Wait! Wait!"

She smiled to herself at hearing the slight panic in his voice. He was helpless in the water. She kept walking. She lifted her head a little higher feeling like she had bested him at his own petty game of jealousy. Why couldn't he understand that she did not care for Baxter?

Baxter had been a means to an end...or that had been the plan. She had needed to secure financial stability for her and her family. She was the sole financial provider. It had nothing to do with attraction. It had been a strictly beneficial transactional relaitonship.

If Rome hadn't been such an a$shole to her she would have found his jealousy sexy. No man's desire for her had ever run this deep and strong. He was crazy. She was now married to him, but that didn't mean she had to tolerate his mistreatment constantly. Rome reminded her of a spoiled prince whose family had never said no to him a day in his life.

His visceral reaction when she had said the word let her know just how skewed his reality was. He was alpha in it. Everyone did what he says and everyone lives to make his life luxurious and easy. Bunny was only doing this because he threatened her. She had no obligation and felt no connection strong enough for her to want to pledge her undying loyalty to him.

Her past profession dealt in sex, but in her private life she had always been more sexually reserved. She had only dated two people in her entire life. She had enjoyed having sex with them, but it had been infrequent. She kept walking. The trail was beginning to look familiar to her. She recalled the coconut tree.

"Goddamit! Slow down!" Rome yelled at her from behind.

Bunny hadn't noticed he had been talking to her until now. She turned around then. He looked like he was out of breath. Had he ran to catch up with her. Bunny found the thought of a frantic Rome funny. She bit her lower lip so she wouldn't grin. He had his hands on his knees and was gulping down fresh air.

"All those muscles and you're out of breath." Bunny decided to chide him.

"Haha." He quipped. He took a few more deep steady breaths in. He stood up straight then.

He stood in front of her. He towered over her. Bunny was not intimated. She was irritated. She did not step back instead, she tilted her head up and looked him directly in his eyes. They just started at one another for what seemed like forever, but was only a few seconds

Bunny was annoyed, "What?" she said, finally breaking their silence.

"I'm sorry." He said.

Bunny thought she was hallucinating.

"What?" She said.

"I said I'm sorry. You are right. I am being an As$hole." He admitted.

Bunny was surprised at this sudden turn of events. He was always so headstrong. It was a nice change.

"Why does it bother you so badly?" Bunny asked him.

She searched his face. He looked like he was debating whether to tell her the truth or not. After a slight pause he answered her. "I am jealous. When I think about you with anyone else. I can't think straight. Even him looking at you the way he does. It just does something to me. No one gets to lok at you like that, but me. No one else gets to touch you, but me. You are my wife. You fall under my protection." His gaze never wavered from her. He spoke to her as if he were speaking sacred vows he never meant to utter in the light of day.

Bunny wasn't shocked at his admission. She was shocked that he admitted it. His jealousy was palpable. Him acknowledging it and apologizing for his behavior made her feel safer in his presence.

"I don't know what I can do to make you feel like you can trust me." She told him.

"Yea, that isn't something I do well." He admitted.

"Maybe you should trust me with something small. This thing with Baxter is small. Like you said. I am yours. I'm not going anywhere." She told him.

Rome looked into those beautiful sapphire blue eyes of Bunny's and was almost lost. She had said the words he had fantasized about for so long, 'I am yours.' He wanted to believe that she meant it when she said those words, but he had overheard the phone conversation with her mother.

Bunny was going to leave him. She was going to run away. It was only a matter of time. He had known the second he had seen the look of mortification on her face when she discovered she was going to be wed to him. He had tried to not let it bother him, considering how he was forcing her to marry him, but it still stung nonetheless.

He felt like he had been spiraling out of control since the moment he saw her on Baxter's arm at his ridiculous party. He had instantly wanted her. His plan be damned. He wasn't that nerdy geek from boarding school. He was a man. Maybe he had went overboard, but his emotions were running high and all he wanted was to keep her safe.

She thought he was a monster. He couldn't fault her in that thought process. He had been acting abominably since they met. His apology had been genuine. Seeing her expression soften from annoyance back to her beautiful self was well worth it.

He rarely apologized, but he knew he was in the wrong. Bunny was not attracted to Baxter. In his logical mind, he knew that, but his primal side didn't care. He wanted her all to himself and he didn't care who was in his way. Bunny was his and would always be his.

He captured her face in his strong hands and placed a tende rkiss on her lips. Bunny accepted the the kiss and leaned into him. Her body was pressed up against his as their tongues danced. They clung on to one another as they felt their passion grow stronger and stronger. Bunny couldn't feel her feet on the ground.

She opened her eyes and noticed Rome had picked her up and was carrying her. She nervously tried to break the kiss. He still her movement, wrapped her legs firmly around his waist and continued kissing her. Seconds later she felt her back up against a coconut tree. The kiss turned more hot and frantic. His lips pressing harder against hers.

The raw need building inside of them. Bunny always felt like her body betrayed her when it came to his man. His kisses always melted her senses always. His hands were firm yet gentle on her body. She could feel him hardening with every second of the kiss. His hands went to her shorts. He made quick work of unbuttoning them. Bunny looked around and felt like they were in the open.

"We should go." She told him inbetween kisses.

"Not a chance. I want you here and now."
