Chapter 37 - Shattered

It felt uncomfortable.

Isolde suddenly hated being the center of attention. Her arrival with Severin had drawn every guest's gaze toward them, especially when Severin walked into the ballroom with his arm wrapped around her waist.

Severin led her toward Corvin and his wife. For the first time, Isolde found herself captivated by another woman. Corvin's wife was stunning in her white dress. The complete opposite of her terrifying husband, the woman radiated warmth, smiling wide enough for her dimples to show as she shook Isolde's hand.

Some guests looked at them with curiosity. Others smiled in ways Isolde couldn't reasonably interpret. And then some glared with outright hatred, none more so than Tiffara, who looked like she wanted to devour Isolde alive.
