Chapter 1 - Once upon a time... - 1

- Why don't we look like everyone else?

- Because we are perfect?

- Eh?! But don't we look weird? Isn't that why no one likes us? Grandpa said our eyes are scary.

- That stupid guy said they're just jealous of us.

- But he also doesn't come anymore. Does he don't like us because we're weird?

- That's because he's just stupid.

- Then if our hair was black like everyone else's and we didn't have weird eyes, would Grandpa like us? Or maybe our parents would come too?

-... Maybe... But it's not like that.

************

With hair as white as snow, skin as white as porcelain, and blood-red eyes, no one in the family looked like them, and no one loved them either. For years, the two of them lived in isolation, but for some reason their relationship was never really as strong as one might imagine for twins with no one but themselves.

But since their lives are so self-centered, they had to find a way to coexist

Conveniently for them, they weren't really affected by any external influences, so they embellished the relationship with whatever rational and irrational explanations they wanted.

After all, there was no one to deny them except themselves and each other; what they agree is wrong is definitely wrong, and what they emphasize is right is definitely right.

When the court is empty and the laws are not written

they couldn't help but be the prosecution and defense, the the perpetrator and the judge.

He kicked the wooden sword his twin had tossed aside with boredom and asked in a lazy tone

- Shall we go home?

- No, I took the money from Grandpa's office to go play.

- Grandpa will punish us.

- He always does that.

- What if he forgets us like last time?

- Let's buy some food if he forgets us this time too.

- I see... You're smart, Cel.

- Of course I am, Cass.

They were interrupted by a moan from the boy Cecil had just beaten to a pulp.

There was no real expression on Cassian's face, which seemed to be the embodiment of the meaning of his name, especially his blood-red, dead eyes.

Nevertheless, Cecil stepped forward and squatted in front of the boy, showing his disgust openly and clearly, as befits a ten year old with no control over his emotions.

He spoke menacingly, trying to look imposing, and to adults he looked funny and even very cute, especially with his doll-like face and his white hair, which is not usually seen in this country.

But he may have succeeded in achieving his goal of scaring his victim, who began to tremble more than fear as he threatened

- If you make fun of my brother again, I'll break your arms and legs next time and make you crawl like a worm.

Although it's unclear where he learned such words to a third-rate villain, it's clear from one glance that he's an upper-class person and the son of a wealthy person.

As for the boy who was beaten by Cecil for making fun of one of the twins for looking like a girl, he was on the ground crying with a swollen face colored red and blue by the impact of the beating.

Shivering with fear, he nodded his head like a chicken pecking at the ground, tears and snot all over his swollen cheeks.

Satisfied, Cel got up and turned to his twin with a radiant smile that only made Cass sigh... He looked at the boy still kneeling on the ground who looked like a tragic protagonist suffering from bullying and then returned his gaze to his twin who looked like a side villain without saying anything... Maybe he's a main villain? But he's definitely not a hero...

"Cass?"

"Nothing..."

He put his hand on his brother's hand and they set off down the back alley, planning how they were going to spend their beautiful day after skipping school before the evening penalty for stealing money from Grandpa's office and also for the crime of skipping school.

"Where are we going?"

"I'm hungry."

"..."

Well, for someone who eats seven meals a day, Cel looks about as thin as a straw stick... One of the mysteries that Cass has never been able to solve despite his intense curiosity...

In fact, he never considered running away from the hell called home just because of this point... because he certainly couldn't feed this food- monster guy...

"So, Cass, what do you think?"

He snapped out of his stupor at Cel's question, who his eyes shining like bloody stars

Now he has three options

*Pardon me, repeat your question, what did you say? I wasn't paying attention.

*Do what you want

*No

The first two options are sure to end badly, so he immediately answered in his same calm tone.

"NO"

"Eh? Why?... I thought it would be a good idea to blow up Grandpa's house so he couldn't punish us."

Cass just sighed and didn't say anything for a few seconds until they found a man selling street food on the sidewalk and he warned Cel in a low, quiet voice

"If the explosion is strong, we'll die too. If not, it won't do much damage and Grandpa will punish us even more."

"Oh, you're smart, Cass, I didn't think of that... "

It's just like this... Cel, who rushes in without thinking about the consequences, and Cass, who thinks about the consequences without getting emotional...

The two of them looked good together for sure, a symbiotic and complementary relationship without one being a burden on the other or one being completely dependent on the other, but... But for some reason, something seems wrong, unhealthy
