Chapter 5 - Family

I found myself seated at the maghony dining table with Darvis just right beside me as he bit into the sweet savory beacon, then Cara and Matthew whispered in a conversation and laughed among themselves.

I watched the servants as they trode in and out serving our dishes while I watched in all. This life, this people that I thought I knew and this place they all still seem new and bewildering to me.

"You seem pale" The whisper jolted me back to my memory sending goose bumps on my skin as his breath caressed my neck. Roughly, yesterday's event flashed through my mind, I didn't plan to act out in that manner just that everything was just too much for me to take in.

"I'm fine" I muttered, turning towards him to give him a crisp smile. He was handsomely beautiful but not to compare to Nathan…sorry Troy I swallowed remembering his current name. But why in the moon goddess name will I think about him now!

"And … I'm sorry for yesterday" I stuttered. " I didn't mean to respond in such a way" I wasn't feeling sorry at all for some reason it felt as if he had deserved it but felt the need to apologize because of how uneasy I was feeling just seated close to him.

"You had nothing to worry" I felt his hand slowly at my side as he smiled handsomely at me while keeping his head high. Everything about him seems so confident and bossy.

"All I want you to think about now is our wedding and in no less than 24 hours we'll be married together" I felt his words burn sharply through my heart, I didn't know why I felt this way while his words felt icky to me but I clutched my fork tightly in my palm to relieve me of the pain I felt just from his words.

"I know there's nothing more you'll want than to be with me" I felt myself choking on the invisible food in my mouth as I stared at that blue gaze that I knew and had seen all my life…. Gerald.

"What are you two love birds whispering about? The voice at the end of the table drew our attention and from the corner of my eyes I saw him smile brightly.

"Lisa and I were discussing our wedding for a short while, isn't that true? He looked at me and suddenly I felt the need to sprang to my feet and disappeared.

But the gentle hand placed over me kept me in my seat, his glare was threatening and daring me to leave but he kept his smile and this whole thing was frustrating.

"That's so sweet," Cara spoke as she reached for Matt. Hatred and bitterness overwhelmed me as I I watched them both. These were the people who had worked together to murder me in my previous life. Suddenly, I felt nauseous from the food while fighting the urge to stay still.

"And you don't need to worry about anything else about the wedding preparation. All you need now to do is rest while I sort out the necessary arrangements for tomorrow" She spoke sweetly which was unlike the Olivia I knew, I counted the seconds that passed by before I let out those unspoken words.

"Liar! I spat and suddenly the room fell silent and the servant seemed to instantly retreat trying as much as they could to stay away from the drama.

"Why would you say such a thing! I could see the once bright face was now replaced with paleness as she stared speechlessly at me but I can't explain.my reason because I'll sound like a crazy ass eighteen year old who lost her mind after an accident.

"You can't say such a thing about your sister!" Matt spoke and I could hear the anger and pain in his voice as he defended my sister. "After your parents…she had been the one who had trained you, the only one you had!" I pushed my seat back ignoring Gerald ... .I mean Darvis grip.

It was still hard for me to place the names and as I hurried out of the dining room, I could feel Darvis stare piercing a hole through my back.

I hurried towards the spiral stairs back to my room which seems more like a different world on its own before I allowed myself to collapse on the queen sized bed just in time for the door to sprang open.

"You wouldn't be that ungrateful?! I heard his footsteps as he approached the bed but all I needed right now was some space to take all this in…that he isn't Gerald anymore but Darvis and that Olivia is Cara, Nathan…Troy and I, Lisa.

I groaned loudly, it was a whole lot and at this point I don't know if it's a curse or something to be grateful about. I lifted up my head to stare at him.

"I know what you're going to say but I promise you don't understand" I spoke out loudly, sitting up to brace my petite body against the squishy yellow pillow.

"I do…I know that since you came back from the hospital you've been acting a little crazy" He bent over towards me and held me by my chin. " And I'm not going to allow that" I followed his glare as he turned to the door followed by a servant with a tray of food.

"And now you have to eat" He spoke softly as he walked over the couch and made himself comfortable. "We'll be married soon and I don't want to marry a malnutritioned lady" I glared at the food then back to him, it was the cold bacon and meatloaf on the dining table.

And just the sight made my stomach turn, I turned back toward him with a cold gaze. "I'm not eating that!" I protested firmly, withdrawing further in the bed.

"It's not a question, Lisa. Eat now!" And when I looked at him this time, I was taken aback by the horror detailed on his face.
