Chapter 13 - One Punch man EP 2 part 1

The episode opened in Saitama's small apartment. He was quietly watering his plants while the TV droned in the background, reporting on a "massive mosquito outbreak."

"Why the hell are they focusing on mosquitoes?" Dabi muttered, slouching in his seat with a look of boredom. A few of the others nodded in agreement — it really did sound like a dull report after everything they'd seen so far.

Principal Nezu, however, tilted his head thoughtfully. "I think it's going to be something important."

Everyone turned to look at him, remembering the last thing they saw in Episode 1 — that mysterious blond man standing among cow corpses. "Wait," a few students murmured, connecting the dots. "Those bodies… were covered in mosquitoes."

That realization made several people, including Dust Man, pause for a moment — though the villain quickly shrugged it off. "Nah, probably nothing. Maybe the show's just trying to make bugs scary or something."

Back on-screen, the news anchor introduced an "expert entomologist," who, after a few seconds of awkward rambling, admitted, "I've never seen this species before… I honestly have no idea what it is

The anchor's polite smile snapped instantly. "Then why are you even here?!" he shouted before immediately returning to a calm tone like nothing happened.

The reaction from the viewing room was immediate. "What the hell was that?" Mina said, eyes wide. "He just screamed at the poor guy!"

"Yeah, that was rude," Tokoyami added quietly. "He could've handled that better."

"I disagree," Bakugo said flatly, crossing his arms. "The guy was useless. Why bring in an expert if he doesn't know jack about what's going on?"

Ida turned to him, chopping his hand through the air so fast it was almost a blur. "That doesn't mean you yell at a guest on live television! He could have handled it professionally!"

"Professionally?" Bakugo scoffed. "If you pay someone to do a job and they show up clueless, you yell. That's professional."

Aizawa unexpectedly cut in, rubbing the bridge of his nose. "Actually, Bakugo's not entirely wrong."

That stunned the class — especially Ida. "Wait, what?"

"Bringing an expert on a broadcast costs money," Aizawa said simply. "If the man didn't have anything useful to say, the outburst was more practical than polite. Waste of air time."

"Oh," Uraraka mumbled softly, scratching her cheek. "I mean, I guess… yeah, that would make anyone mad. Especially if you don't have much money to begin with."

"Exactly," Aizawa nodded. "Some people just show frustration differently."

Ida still didn't look pleased, but he slowly sat down, though the chopping didn't quite stop. "Even so, public composure…" he muttered.

Back on the screen, the broadcast shifted to an emergency announcement. A grim image of the cow carcass appeared — the same one they'd seen at the end of the last episode — covered in swarms of mosquitoes.

Present Mic physically shivered. "Ugh—bugs. Why does it always have to be bugs!?" he whined dramatically, pulling his scarf up to his nose.

Koda wasn't much better; he curled in on himself, trembling. The poor boy could talk to animals, but insects? That was where his courage ended. "I-I don't like this at all…" he whispered, his voice small.

Back on the screen, Saitama tended to his plants like nothing was wrong. A single mosquito buzzed in and landed nearby. He tried to swat it — and missed. Then he tried again… and missed again.

Each time, he moved so fast that only afterimages of his arm and slipper could be seen.

"Wait, wait, wait…" Spinner leaned forward, his tail twitching in disbelief. "You're telling me the same guy who destroyed that crab monster in one punch can't kill one mosquito?"

Even the League couldn't make sense of it.

Before anyone could respond, Seven leaned forward with a mischievous smirk. "Say… how about we make this a little interesting?"

Bakugo groaned immediately. "Don't tell me you're seriously turning this into some kinda game while he's fighting a mosquito."

"Yup," Seven said casually, ignoring his complaint. "I think it'll make things fun. Whoever figures out the real reason behind certain unexplained things in this world gets a reward."

That perked everyone up instantly.

Nezu's ears twitched. "A… reward, you say? And what kind of reward are we talking about?"

"Oh, something nice. But don't get too excited — the mystery behind this mosquito won't be answered this season."

The collective groan that followed nearly shook the room. Even the villains were disappointed.

"Wait, what?!" Kaminari shouted. "Then what's the point of playing if we can't even win the first one!?"

Seven turned to the readers with a sly grin. "Alright, for those of you watching, I'll tell you my personal headcanon. The mosquito survives because of King. Yeah, you heard me. If this mosquito hadn't survived that encounter, Saitama never would've met Genos — and without that, he never would've become a hero or met King later on. So basically… this is King's luck in action."

They audience just grumble and frustration, but they honestly couldn't do anything about it so they just continued watching the screen

They didn't fully trust his word about tonight funding the clue now so they pay attention to every detail

(Hey guys,

I'm sorry this chapter is so short and a bit rough, especially for something that took a month. The truth is, I've been focusing almost entirely on my novel White Lightning this past month, and honestly, deciding to release fanfiction chapters once a month was the best choice I could've made. It gave me the time to really dive into my novel — and I've been having a great time writing it.

Because of that, I barely had the chance to work on this chapter, but I'll try to make the next one better (no promises though).

As for White Lightning, it's going great. it's not gonna be one of those endless 3,000-chapter stories — not because I'm rushing it, but because the story itself doesn't need to be that long. I'm happy with the direction it's taking.

Also, I've been considering moving this fanfiction to Wattpad. My plan would be to post all future chapters there and eventually delete this version from this app.

What do you guys think — should I make the move to Wattpad?)
