Chapter 16 - Chapter 15 : Clash!

Seeing the two of them running and screaming for help, I and the others didn't stay idle.

"Get ready!!" I shouted to the others.

Olivia and Hyunsuk quickly moved into position, with Hyunsuk standing in front and Olivia in the middle. While Olivia aimed at the monster ahead, Hyunsuk stood ready since the monster was still quite far away, making the chance of the shotgun pellets hitting it very slim.

But if the monster managed to get within effective range, the spread of the shotgun pellets would have a much higher chance of taking it down. Meanwhile, I stood beside Olivia, staying alert to the surroundings, watching for any possible threats.

In the worst-case scenario, if the monster somehow managed to dodge both Olivia and Hyunsuk's bullets, I would take the front position and fight the monster in close combat.

Well, there were probably many flaws in this formation. After all, it was just created after I learned about Olivia's abilities earlier. So after assessing and analyzing each person's strengths, we settled on this formation.

Back to the beginning—when we aimed our weapons forward, the two men looked terrified. But after receiving a signal from me to keep running, they continued toward us.

Olivia, who had already aimed at the monster, immediately fired.

BANG!

A loud bang from the M1911 shattered the tension as the bullet flew straight at the monster. With perfect aim, the bullet pierced the monster's body, creating a bloody hole.

We thought the monster would fall, but the opposite happened. It kept crawling rapidly toward us, blood gushing down from its wound. It screamed furiously, as if enraged by what we had done.

Its vitality was clearly strong. But if one bullet wasn't enough, what about two? Thinking that, Olivia quickly took aim again and fired a second shot.

BANG!

As if anticipating Olivia's shot, the monster swiftly moved to the side, causing the bullet to embed itself into the concrete ceiling.

"!!!"

Everyone was shocked. How could it be? The monster had dodged the bullet. No, more precisely, it moved before the bullet was even fired. Otherwise, how could a 100 m/s bullet miss such a precise shot?

Looking again, the monster didn't even have eyes, yet it could dodge bullets. It completely defied common sense.

Seeing her shot miss, Olivia fired several more rounds.

BANG!!! BANG!!!

This time, we were completely stunned. The monster used the concrete pillars to shield itself from Olivia's shots. Only after she stopped firing did it reemerge, zig-zagging erratically at high speed.

Even for Olivia, aiming at such movements was extremely difficult. So she immediately shouted, "Hyunsuk, get ready!!"

Hearing Olivia's warning, Hyunsuk tensed up as he raised the shotgun to aim at the monster.

The two men finally reached our position, and I quickly ordered them to move to the side. After all, we didn't know them, and it would be fatal to leave our backs exposed to strangers.

I saw Hyunsuk sweating nervously as he tried to aim at the monster. But even when the monster was very close, Hyunsuk still didn't fire because it kept using the pillars to hide its movement.

The terrifying pressure from the monster was clearly overwhelming the boy's spirit. He probably couldn't even think clearly right now. In this kind of situation, death was inevitable if it continued.

Seeing the monster only five meters away, I immediately stepped forward and pushed Hyunsuk aside as I entered a state of full focus. In this state, time seemed to slow down. All information flooded into my mind rapidly.

The monster, now within striking distance, leapt from above, lunging at me with its long tongue and bloody fangs. I calculated the trajectory of its jump, the direction of its claw strike, and the best position to counter—all in multiple scenarios in my mind.

At that moment, the weapons in my hands swung forward as I and the monster clashed.

Clash!

Due to the monster's strong momentum, the clash between us happened in an instant and sent us both flying backward.

"LAN!!!"

"HYUNG!!!"

Seeing the monster throw me down, both of them immediately rushed to help. But then the monster's body moved, causing them to instinctively step back.

Hyunsuk and Olivia immediately pointed their firearms at the monster, ready to shoot in the next second. But suddenly, a voice stopped them.

"Wait, don't shoot!!"

Looking toward the source of the voice—it was me, Lan—pushing the monster's body off from atop me. Looking again at the monster's corpse, there were two weapons—an axe and a katana—firmly lodged into its chest and head.

They hadn't noticed because the monster had fallen face down. When they saw that I was alive and had killed the monster, both of them ran over to me.

"Lan!!"

"Hyung!!"

"!!!"

Both of them rushed in and hugged me tightly, overwhelmed with happiness knowing I was still alive. Their hugs were so strong it hurt my already aching body from the earlier collision with the monster.
