Logan left Tom and Luo at the garage and went into the house, where he met Linnea and Julian in the dining room.
Linnea stood when he appeared. "Did you do it?" she asked.
Logan didn't respond immediately; he stood still for a moment, then moved closer and took his seat.
"Did you do it?" Linnea repeated, and he shook his head.
"I tried to end it as quickly as possible, but he was too stubborn."
Linnea's eyes widened. "You mean Beta Benjamin is dead?"
"He is," Logan answered.
A gasp escaped Linnea's lips; she shifted her gaze to Julian's.
"He is dead," Julian repeated.
Linnea slowly returned to her seat. "He is dead," she echoed.
"Do you hate the idea?" Logan asked when he saw Linnea's expression. She didn't appear happy, so he assumed she wasn't.
Linnea shook her head. "I can't feel a thing," she whispered.
"What are you talking about?" Julian questioned her.
"I can't feel a thing," she repeated.
"What's wrong? What happened?" Logan also questioned.
