Chapter 2 - Chapter 2 Paper Balls

Jay-jay's POV

Because I enrolled late in the class, Sir gave me a copy of the lessons they had that I missed. Good thing the lectures weren't that far behind.

Sir Alvin is the English Teacher and he is also the adviser of Section E. My start in this class section was a bit rough, but for now, it's a bit quiet.

*Tik *Tok *Toink

I'm taking it back! I'm not in peace yet! Just a ghost?

I've been getting paper thrown at me here in my spot for a while now. It's just a small crumpled piece of paper. Whenever I look to see where it's coming from, the whole class acts oblivious.

What the?! Am I bothering you?!

We reached the next subject and the scene was still the same. Papers were scattered around me.

Calm down Jay, they're just teasing you!

I focused again on the lecture, just like Sir Alvin, the next teacher also gave me a copy of the previous lesson.

I was busy writing when I suddenly felt something hit my hair. I touched it and immediately felt.... wet?

They threw a wet paper at me. No need to ask where the water came from. The mouth is the fastest and easiest water source of a person and the slippery stuff is a bit sticky.

Yuck! Eeewwww!

I quickly grabbed a tissue and sanitizer from my bag. I'm a girl scout, I'm always ready!

The next classes went on and the scene was still the same. Damn!

As soon as the teacher left, I stood up and faced the whole class. My gaze was sharp at all of them.

"WHO THE HELL IS THROWING STUFF AT ME?!" I shouted angrily.

No one moved, so I was about to speak again when suddenly everyone raised their hands. All of them had crumpled paper balls. That's what they call paper balls, those perfectly round ones from being crumpled and about the size of an apple.

They were all poised to throw at me. I'm dead!

I saw Keifer smirking. He stood up and posed like he was about to throw in a baseball game.

My eyes widened at his appearance. What have you gotten into, Jay-jay?

I just swallowed and closed my eyes when I saw him throw the paper ball at me. After it hit my face, a barrage of paper balls followed.

"Aarrrggghhhh..." I screamed.

It didn't hurt, but I couldn't move or react because of the sheer number. Along with their throwing were laughter.

"Go on.. hahaha"

"There are still many here.."

"Hahaha..."

As far as I know, there are only more than 15 of them, but why does it feel like more than 100 are throwing things at me.

"Aarrgghhhhh... What the?!" I shouted at them, but of course, it had no effect.

I had no choice but to grab my bag and quickly run out of the room.

They were still throwing things at me until I completely got out.

I didn't stop running until I was far away from the building itself.

They were really something! I wish I hadn't answered that Keifer.

It was lunch time, so I thought of heading straight to the cafeteria to have lunch. I went inside and lined up.

I was busy looking around while in line when I heard a familiar voice.

"That was really funny.. Hahaha.." it was Rakki and his classmates.

I immediately turned my back to them.

Why is this line so long?!

"Hey Rakki..." I heard someone call out to him. I'm not nosy, but I couldn't help but listen.

"Watsup Mykel?" Rakki greeted.

"I heard you faced the transferee.. What can you say?"

I think that's me? They're talking about me.

"Uhmmm.. She's pretty and a little noob."

Should I be happy? I was praised and at the same time insulted. What does that mean?

Why is this line so slow?

"Hahaha.. What do you mean?"

"She entered our section instead of the room of Section E."

Suddenly they all laughed, including Rakki's classmates. So embarrassing!

"That's kind of embarrassing.."

You said it! The line moved and I reached the vendor. I bought two meals and I know I'm going to be in trouble. I also bought a big Piattos, Nova, and Chippy. (these are Filipino snacks)

I just had everything taken out because I had no intention of showing myself in Section C. So embarrassing!

I got my purchases and quickly walked towards the cafeteria door but I stopped when I ran into Aries. My cousin.

His eyebrows immediately furrowed when he saw me. I couldn't move from my spot. I'm in trouble!

"Hey Aries! Over here!" Rakki shouted.

But he didn't move and neither did I.

I felt someone approach us until...

"Jay-Jay? You're here.." Rakki greeted me. "...Guys, the transferee is here."

I was introduced by Rakki to the people in the cafeteria. It was too late to resist.

"She's Jay-jay... The one I was talking about earlier." Rakki introduced.

I just bowed my head. I didn't know who I should be embarrassed for. The people here or Aries.

Aries left their house when he found out that I would be living with them. Our relationship isn't good because of the things I did before.

"So Jay-jay... How's your experience with Section E?" asked a guy. He seems to be Mykel.

I couldn't answer. I didn't want to tell them that the whole Section E has been messing with me. And Section E might think I'm complaining.

"A-okay... T-they're nice to me." I replied while forcing a smile.

"I think that's a lie. Section E are all barbaric. They have records inside and outside of school." said Rakki.

My forehead furrowed at what I heard. That's too much to call them barbaric. They sound like monsters.

"No need to worry... Jay will fit well in that Section." Aries said.

I looked at him. I didn't know what he meant by that.

I know I'll just embarrass myself here a few more times. I slowly removed Rakki's arm around me.

"R-rakki... I need to leave now. I'm sorry."

I didn't wait for their response. I immediately left the cafeteria. I don't know why the atmosphere there was so awkward.

I also feel embarrassed in front of Aries.

I used to be a fighter in our old school. We are a broken family so I rebelled. My grandmother took me in to care for me and in the hope that my life would be better with her, but that didn't have any effect either.

Until my grandmother had a heart attack because of my fighting. My aunts got angry with me, except for Aunt Gema----Aries' mother. She was the only one who reached out to me, saying that it wasn't all my fault.

Because I felt ashamed in front of my grandmother, I said my goodbyes and that I would just leave. Aunt Gema took me in because they didn't have a daughter. I agreed and also promised my grandmother and the others that I would fix my life and myself.

When I arrived at their place, I thought everything would be okay, but Aries got angry when he saw me. He said if I didn't leave, he would. Aunt didn't do anything, so Aries left, and that's when we met again.

It was really hard for Aunt Gema. I could feel it, and she didn't need to say anything. If only Aries knew that I had changed.

I arrived at the building of Section E without realizing it. Wait!

I can't go in there yet. I'm sure they will tease me, and I won't be able to eat properly.

I looked around. I thought of getting a table and bench that looked decent to me, and I positioned myself there to eat. I opened the first meal I bought.

I also put a handkerchief on my blouse. Just in case the food splatters, better safe than sorry.

Our uniform is a simple blouse with a black necktie and a skirt two inches above the knee. The necktie indicates what year we are in. There is a white stripe. Since we are in our fourth year, there are four stripes.

I have already finished the first meal and was about to open the second when someone snatched it away. Fast, faster than Flash.

"Give it to me!" shouted the one who grabbed my meal. I'm sure he's my classmate.

I couldn't do anything. Other classmates approached him as well, like starving people fighting over it.

I saw Keifer leaning against the wall. He was just staring at our classmates fighting over it.

"Share some!"

"Give us some!"

"This is mine!"

Really starving people. Didn't they have lunch?

"Just bear with it, they're just hungry," said someone.

I looked at the one who spoke, who was now next to me. A mushroom? Just popping up?

He's one of the ones I talked to earlier. The one with Keifer. He has brown hair.

"I'm Felix by the way..." he introduced himself and extended his hand.

But I ignored him. What is he, lucky? After they led me to a different room earlier. I will not take your hand.

I just took out the big Piattos from my bag. I was about to open it when someone suddenly snatched it away again.

"Hey, come on!" I shouted.

The thief is gone. Our starving classmates have covered it up. What's with them?

What are these classmates of mine? Vultures? They are worse than eagles in snatching food.

"Hahaha... Don't take out food yet." said Felix.

I looked at him irritably. "What are your classmates? Just starving guts?"

He laughed at what I said. "Hahaha.. Kind of."

I feel like all my food has drained away in annoyance at my classmates.

They just scattered the leftovers and peels on the floor.

Are they super hungry?
