Uriel’s eyes widened. “…This was written by Pascal I himself?”
“That’s correct,” Apollonia confirmed, “He penned a book about the love he couldn’t forget until his passing. Of course, this was long after Luperion died. Do you get why it was banned now?”
Uriel nodded in understanding. If it were revealed that the empire’s greatest emperor had loved a woman who was his sworn enemy, it wouldn’t bode well for the imperial family.
“The late emperor asked me to read this book, telling me I would find something to respect about Pascal I. He said that’s the kind of emperor I should aspire to be. Of course, he didn’t claim that Pascal I had no flaws either,” Apollonia explained, gently caressing the book’s black cover.
