“I’m glad you’re safe, Your Highness,” Uriel replied to Apollonia, taking a deep bow.

When the victor of the contest only assumed minimal courtesy, it made him look even more enigmatic. The banquet hall buzzed with guests vying for his attention. Young noble daughters smiled shyly at him, while the sons tried to appear amicable. Even some elderly nobles silently pondered the age difference between him and their kin.

“It suits you. You’re a noble now,” Apollonia whispered softly to Uriel amid the lively atmosphere.

“I don’t really need a noble title though.”

Uriel had been bestowed with not just a fine sword, but the title of a baron and land that came with it.

“You do. I planned on giving you a title myself, but it’s better this way.”

“I would have been happy if it were you who bestowed the title upon me, Your Highness,” Uriel whispered back, drawing envious gazes from a few noble daughters nearby.
