Apollonia reached into her robe, retrieving a small, plain white incense pouch.
“The most talented sorcerer in the empire crafted this. It’s said to offer protection to its owner,” she explained, extending it to Uriel.
He arched an eyebrow, clearly taken aback, but Apollonia simply smiled and pushed it into his hands.
“The most talented sorcerer in the empire, you say, that must mean…”
“It’s Amoretta. I needed to show it as proof of our last meeting, but I no longer need it anymore,” she said, causing Uriel’s eyes to widen.
“If it genuinely does protect its owner, Your Highness, perhaps you should keep it,” he suggested, uncertain of its actual effectiveness but wanting Apollonia to have as many advantages as she could.
