Chapter 222 - 222: Flames Against the Wolf God

"Get out of here."

People from Asgard often carried themselves with an air of arrogance.

You could see it in the likes of the Ice King Laufey, Loki, and Thor.

It was normal, really—after all, one was human, the other divine.

This figure before him was no exception. He, too, came from the realm of the gods—known as the Wolf God.

A being unlike any other.

He had never appeared in the Marvel cinematic tales, nor in the comics… but that was no surprise. Marvel's world was vast, with most of its wonders hidden beneath the surface. Asgard was the same.

It was a realm teeming with countless powerful beings.

And the Wolf God… his strength was terrifying. Not quite at the level of the All-Father, but close enough to inspire dread.

No, he wasn't Odin—the father of Thor and Loki—but his power was not far off.

Still, the very fact that Asgard could produce a being of such magnitude meant there were surely others, just slightly weaker, walking its lands.

The Wolf God was one of them. A being whose presence alone could shake the battlefield.

He had long been one of Loki's hidden allies. Without his support, Loki's schemes would never have advanced so far. This was no empty boasting—his might was real.

Now, his eyes locked on his target. His sharp senses told him that the man before him was weaker, his energy thin and scattered. The Wolf God didn't even consider him worth noticing… at least, not until he remembered why he had come.

Loki had given him a task: remove an obstacle. An opponent too strong for Loki to handle alone.

That obstacle was this man, Zenkichi.

The Wolf God stepped forward. "Move aside, you mortal!"

Zenkichi's eyes widened slightly, not from fear, but from surprise. It had been a long time since anyone had dared to order him aside. A faint smile curved his lips.

"You'll regret saying that," he murmured.

Without hesitation, he moved.

Flames burst forth, fierce and unyielding, rushing into the air like a crimson tide. The inferno surged forward, aiming directly at the Wolf God.

The air rippled from the heat, but nothing else caught fire—not the steel floor beneath them, nor the towering walls of the S.H.I.E.L.D. headquarters around them. This was fire controlled with precision, flames that existed solely to consume their target.

The Wolf God's expression shifted. He could feel the oppressive force within the flames, and for the first time in centuries…

"…A long-lost sense of crisis."

The heat intensified, filling the space with blinding light. The fire roared as if determined to burn the Wolf God from existence.

And yet, Zenkichi stood calmly, his eyes locked on his foe.

He had no intention of prolonging this battle.
