Chapter 167 - Chapter 167: The Retiring Alexander Corvinus

At that moment, Mr. X and Alexei followed Worrell Roche aboard an armed helicopter that landed on an aircraft carrier stationed in the English Channel.

As they stepped off the helicopter, both men were stunned at the scale of the vessel beneath their feet. They hadn't expected the man they were about to meet to wield this kind of influence.

After all, this was a full-blown aircraft carrier—something only a few nations in the world possess. No wonder this man was able to "clean up" after both vampires and werewolves.

To put it bluntly, if this beast were to open fire, the two of them wouldn't stand a chance. They couldn't fly, and they sure as hell didn't know Kamehameha.

Following Worrell Roche, X and Alexei entered the aircraft carrier and were led to a war room.

Armed soldiers stood on guard around the perimeter, while at the center of the room sat Alexander Corvinus himself.

Worrell stepped forward and saluted:

"Sir, these two are X and Alexei."

Then he respectfully moved to a corner of the room.

Alexander made no move to dismiss the armed guards. Instead, he looked at the newcomers.

"Please, take a seat."

Once they were seated, he continued:

"I doubt many people in the world would believe that a former Red Guard would one day join the Assassin's League."

"Of course, I mean no offense to your organization, X-san."

X looked at the man in front of him and asked:

"You are Alexander Corvinus?"

Alexander replied:

"That was my former name. Now I go by Lorenzo Mocaro."

"But names are just codenames. What truly endures is bloodline."

X studied the man carefully. If Smith Dole hadn't told him, who could've guessed that this unassuming old man had lived for over a millennium and was the father of the progenitors of both vampires and werewolves?

"Your bloodline gave birth to the first vampires and werewolves."

Alexei was equally stunned. The old man before him was the father of the vampire and werewolf progenitors? That was insane. He didn't even look dangerous.

Alexander didn't flinch at their surprise. He simply said:

"Since you know the truth about me and my sons, this conversation should be much easier."

"For over a thousand years, I watched the births of Marcus and William, and saw with time how everything unfolded."

"I watched my descendants slaughter each other—and even hunt humans. It was never what I intended. I tried my best to stop it."

"I've cleaned up their messes, covered up their secrets, suppressed scandals... but the hatred only grew stronger."

"Yet recently, I've seen a glimmer of hope in your organization."

He clapped his hands. A soldier entered with two others.

It was Selene and Michael.

While picking up X and Alexei, Roche had also arranged for these two to be brought here. Since they had arrived earlier, he had already revealed his identity and the truth of their heritage to them.

X and Alexei were startled to see them and unsure of what Alexander was planning.

Alexander continued:

"They now know the truth of their bloodlines. Selene is about to become a vampire elder, and Michael has already been chosen as the werewolf leader."

"Under my suggestion, both are willing to lead their people under the banner of Smith Dole."

"From what I know about the Assassin's League and its values, I believe your group is the perfect home for their kind."

"Nothing is true. Everything is permitted."

"We walk in the shadows to serve the light."

"I believe both vampires and werewolves are willing to join such a family—one that cleanses the filth of the world."

"And most importantly, I trust that Smith Dole has the strength to suppress any dissenters within both clans."

Alexei blinked, baffled. What the hell? They were just pledging allegiance like that? They hadn't even met the boss yet!

And this old guy—wasn't this just him passing the torch? Retiring? Handing over two supernatural races to Smith?

Though Alexei was internally complaining, his guess wasn't far off. Alexander truly was tired of being the janitor for his chaotic descendants. He was ready to be done with it all.

In the original story, Alexander gave up completely—when Marcus came for him, he didn't resist, choosing instead to commit suicide and destroy the aircraft carrier.

Now, after seeing the power of the Assassin's League and learning of their principles and structure, he had the idea to hand the two clans over to them.

As for the Dragon Balls, he had already heard about them from Selene and suspected they had ties to the Assassin's League—perhaps even originated from them.

With that kind of power, accepting the loyalty of two races was nothing.

After hearing Alexander drop this bombshell, Mr. X was visibly shaken, but still replied:

"Until the Dragon Ball tournament ends, Selene and the vampires cannot formally join the Assassin's League."

"And as for the allegiance of both races, I'll need to report that to our leader."

"And what about Marcus, the other vampire elder? Will he allow this?"

"I'm also curious—why not just have your son lead the races?"

Alexander shook his head:

"Marcus is far from obedient. And my other son, William, still hasn't regained his mind."

"Perhaps... I will need your help with that too."

"As for Marcus' approval, we'll see how Selene's mission to Russia goes."

He had already prepared to give Selene his own blood. Once she consumed it, she would begin to evolve, gaining immunity to sunlight. After that, she would travel to Siberia to undergo further enhancement by the vampire bloodline there. Upon her return, she would also receive a werewolf blood injection.

After three stages of enhancement, Marcus would no longer be a match for her. And her chances in the Dragon Ball tournament would rise dramatically.

At that moment, Selene and Michael both dropped to one knee before Mr. X and said:

"We request the organization to accept our races. We pledge our loyalty and wish to become guardians of the Assassin's League."

Mr. X didn't give a direct answer. He responded instead:

"I will report this to our leader. All decisions rest with Smith Dole."

No one in the room was surprised to hear that everything had to go through God.

Their allegiance was ultimately based on their analysis of Smith's power. Only he could lead them into the new age.
