Chapter 11 - Chapter Eleven: Surprise

Amanda stayed at the hospital for a week. That week was the best time of her life. Even though she was hurt and her whole body were full of injuries, her parents were always with her. They stayed with her and she was never left alone. The amount of times she had smiled that week was more than she had smiled her entire life. Real smiles of course not the fake ones.

But one thing happened during the week, something she didn't expect, it was the visit of her class president.

It was a Sunday morning her father had just dropped by to deliver the things she wanted and the drugs that were prescribed for her when her mom came in with a food flask. She took a chair and sat down beside the bed. Amanda sat up and took the food from her. She was just hurt she wasn't handicapped. Being fed by her mom was rather embarrassing. Her mom chuckled and ruffled her hair a bit.

"Oh yea" Catherine muttered " A young guy came by the house this morning before I left. He says he's your friend"

Amanda who was about to take a spoon of food suddenly froze.

A young man? Friend? Yea those two words were not connected to her at all.

"Mom I don't have a friend who is a young guy" she muttered chuckling as she put the spoon in her mouth and ate the food. Gosh her mom was an amazing cook.

"His name is David. He says he's worried that you haven't been in school and he came to check up on you" Catherine replied with a teasing smile

Who the f**k is David , Amanda thought as she continued eating not minding her mom's face.

"I have no idea who that is mom." She replied.

" Hmmm…. Anyway I told him you're here and he says he's gonna visit later."

Amanda suddenly choked on the food and started coughing violently.

Her mom immediately handed her a bottle of water and started caressing her back.

"Mom!" Amanda groaned after coughing "why would you do that? You know I don't like meeting people"

"He looked nice and genuinely worried. He looked really worried about you"

Amanda's mind went into overdrive immediately. What if it was Jonas or one of his friends. What if they pretended to be worried just so her mom would tell them where she was and they would come and really finish her off.

Sometimes she remembers the assault she went through and she shudders.

She could have died

Those bastards really left her to die.

The doctor said if she had been brought in a little bit later she could have died.

She lost so much blood.

It was an old man that discovered her at the warehouse, then he took her phone and called her parents.

"Pretty sure the old man was sent by God" That's what her parents always said.

They had rewarded the man and thanked him a million times that the man started feeling embarrassed.

He didn't want to collect the reward. But Amanda's parents forced him to.

They also asked him if he saw the people that did it to her. But he didn't. He only came after they left anyway.

Her parents wanted her to stay home for a whole month. But she wanted to return to school. She had to go to school. She had to feel with unfinished business. They were gonna pay. And she was going to make sure they got what's coming to them.

Her mind returned to the present

"You shouldn't do that mom. It might just be someone pretending to be my friend."

Her mom smiled

"You think I'm a child? Unless that young man is a tremendous actor there's no way he could have shown that much worry in his eyes. You need to start giving people the benefit of doubt. Not everyone is terrible. Some people truly love you." Her mom said

Amanda didn't say anything for some time. She just stared at her mom then continued to eat her food.
