In Silverdale, residents were watching Adam's disaster like it was a stage play and he was an actor. Every fever wasp that made it through a newly formed cracked followed him like he was their chosen test subject.
So far, he had speed on his side, and he was zooming left to right to throw them off, but they were equally determined to sting him.
He desperately knocked on door to door, hoping for one to be opened but nobody dared to let him in. Not even his wife Dalen. She was one of the people standing guard behind the door of their apartment building, holding a broom.
Her mother-in-law was looking on with worried eyes and fear. "Dalen..." she called out softly, in a voice that carried a plea.
A guard shook his head. "Nope, don't try to beg her. We all agreed not to open any window or door in this building. He went out there voluntarily."
An older woman sighed. "Let him learn."
