Chapter 8 - Fire Milan

As the next match schedule was released, the excitement was palpable. Devertary United was set to face off against Fire Milan in just three days' time.

Wolf Deo, the team's star player, couldn't wait to get back on the pitch and lead his team to victory.

But before he could focus on the upcoming match, Wolf Deo had a more pressing concern. He made his way to the medical room, where his teammate, Shark, was recovering from a brutal injury.

Wolf's expression turned somber as he entered the room, but he was determined to lift Shark's spirits.

"Hey, buddy!" Wolf exclaimed, trying to sound as upbeat as possible. "I heard the doc say you're on the mend. That's awesome news!" Shark looked up at Wolf, his eyes clouded with pain and frustration.

Wolf pulled up a chair beside Shark's bed and sat down. "Listen, I know it's tough right now, but I want you to know that we're all thinking of you.

We're gonna crush Fire Milan in three days, and I want you to watch us do it!" Wolf grinned, trying to coax a smile out of Shark.

Shark's expression softened slightly, and he managed a weak smile. "Thanks, Wolf. That means a lot coming from you." Wolf nodded, his eyes locked on Shark's.

"I'm serious, Shark. We're gonna win this one for you. You're our brother now, and we're gonna make sure you're back on the pitch in no time." Wolf's voice was filled with conviction, and Shark's smile grew a little wider.

For a moment, the two teammates just sat there, enjoying each other's company. The tension in the room dissipated, replaced by a sense of camaraderie and determination. Wolf Deo stood up, his eyes gleaming with resolve.

"Alright, Shark, I've got to get back to practice. But I'll be back to visit you soon. And don't worry, we're gonna bring home that win for you!" With a final nod, Wolf Deo turned and walked out of the medical room, leaving Shark to his thoughts.

As the match day drew near, the Devertary United players had traveled from the chilly landscapes of Sweden to the sun-kissed city of Palermo, Italy. The Scorch Stadium, nestled in the heart of the city, was abuzz with excitement as fans from both sides poured in, eager to witness the highly anticipated clash.

The air was electric, with the sound of chanting and cheering filling the stadium. The Devertary United fans, clad in their blue and white jerseys, waved flags and banners, their faces painted with anticipation.

The Fire Milan supporters, donning their red and black attire, responded with equal fervor, creating a cacophony of noise that echoed throughout the stadium.

In the locker room, the Devertary United players were focused, their eyes fixed on the task at hand. Molis Harrison, the team's coach, stood before them, his voice ringing with determination.

"Listen up, guys! Today's the day we've been working towards. We've traveled far, and we're not going to let it go to waste. I want to see every single one of you give it your all out there. Leave everything on the pitch!" The players nodded in unison, their faces set with resolve.

Molis continued, "Carlos Marcus will be substituting Ryan Shark in today's match. Let's make sure we support him and work together as a team. We got this, Devertary United!" The players erupted into a chorus of cheers and applause, their spirits lifted by Molis' words.

As they made their way out of the locker room, the sound of the roaring crowd grew louder, and the Devertary United players knew they were in for a battle.

The stage was set, the players were ready, and the crowd was waiting with bated breath. The match was about to begin.

As the teams emerged from the tunnel, the electric atmosphere in the Scorch Stadium reached a fever pitch. The players of Devertary United and Fire Milan took to the pitch, their eyes fixed intently on the task at hand.

At the center of the pitch, the three referees stood poised, awaiting the signal to begin the match. Alessandro Marco, the captain of Fire Milan, and Wolf Deo, the captain of Devertary United, stepped forward to participate in the traditional pre-match handshake.

The two players clasped hands firmly, their eyes locked in a silent understanding of the intense battle that was about to unfold. The referees stood by, watching with keen interest as the handshake was completed.

With the formalities out of the way, the referee blew the whistle, signaling the start of the match. The crowd erupted into a deafening roar as Devertary United was awarded the kick-off.

Wolf Deo, standing tall and confident, took possession of the ball. With a swift glance around the pitch, he spotted Floxx Leon, his teammate, making a run down the wing. Wolf Deo took a deep breath, visualized the play, and then released the ball with a precise pass.

The ball sailed through the air, a perfect arc of speed and accuracy, and found its way to Floxx Leon's feet. The Devertary United player took control of the ball with ease, and the crowd held its collective breath as the match began to unfold.

Floxx Leon's pass found its way to Nicolas Ronoa, who was positioned on the left side of the pitch. Nicolas took a fleeting glance at the pitch, his eyes scanning the layout of the players. In an instant, he had assessed the situation and made his decision.

With a swift touch, Nicolas controlled the ball, and then he was off, dashing forward with incredible speed and agility. As he ran, he locked onto three potential passing options, weighing the pros and cons of each scenario.

The first option was to cross the ball to Wolf Deo, who was making a run down the right wing. However, Nicolas noticed that Wolf was being closely marked by David Noah, the Fire Milan defender. The risk of the ball being intercepted was too great.

The second option was to pass the ball back to Floxx Leon, but Nicolas couldn't see any significant benefit in doing so. The play would essentially be starting over, and the momentum would be lost.

The third and most promising option was to pass the ball forward, hoping that Carlos Marcus would be able to receive it. Nicolas took a deep breath, visualized the play, and then released the ball with a precise pass.

The ball sailed through the air, heading straight for Carlos Marcus. But in a stunning display of defensive prowess, Lukas Müller, the Fire Milan central defensive midfielder, appeared out of nowhere, intercepting the ball with ease.

The crowd gasped in amazement as Lukas Müller's incredible speed and agility allowed him to snuff out the attack. Nicolas Ronoa's eyes widened in surprise, and he couldn't help but feel a sense of admiration for the opposition's impressive defensive display.

Lukas Müller's interception sparked a swift counterattack by Fire Milan. He passed the ball to Julien Dubois, the team's central midfielder, who burst forward with incredible speed. Alongside him, Sander Hansen, the right midfielder, and Patrizi Conti, the left midfielder, formed a formidable trio, threatening to tear apart Devertary United's defense.

As they approached the halfway line, Ruyne Ness, the Devertary United defending midfielder, dashed out to intercept the ball. However, just as he was about to win possession, Julien Dubois was suddenly stripped of the ball by Kofi Owusu, the Fire Milan attacking midfielder.

Kofi's quick thinking and agility allowed him to swoop in and steal the ball, catching Ruyne Ness off balance. The Devertary United defender stumbled, momentarily losing his footing, and Kofi took full advantage of the opportunity.

With a swift motion, Kofi surged forward, the ball glued to his feet. Sander Hansen and Patrizi Conti closed in, forming a tight triangle as they dashed into the Devertary United penalty box.

The crowd held its collective breath, sensing a goal was imminent. The Fire Milan trio's speed and agility had caught Devertary United's defense off guard, and it seemed only a matter of time before they would capitalize on the opportunity.

Kofi Owusu, with his exceptional skill and agility, expertly tipped the ball over the outstretched leg of Cole Isaac, the Devertary United defender. The ball seemed destined to land at the feet of Jonas Poker, the Devertary United center-back, who was poised to clear the danger.

However, in a breathtaking display of speed and acceleration, Kofi Owusu suddenly appeared before Jonas Poker, as if out of nowhere. With his "Apex Acceleration" ability, Kofi had covered an incredible amount of ground in a split second, leaving Poker stunned and helpless.

Kofi Owusu then proceeded to leap over Jonas Poker, the ball still stuck to his foot as if glued. The crowd gasped in amazement at the sheer audacity and skill of the Fire Milan attacking midfielder.

As the chaos in the penalty box reached its peak, Kofi Owusu seized the opportunity to unleash a devastating shot. With a swift, fluid motion, he launched a curving shot towards the post, the ball dipping and swerving through the air with incredible speed and accuracy.

The Devertary United goalkeeper, sensing the danger, scrambled to get into position, but the ball seemed destined to find its way into the back of the net. The crowd held its collective breath as the ball hurtled towards its target, the outcome hanging precariously in the balance.

Shawn Lucius, the Devertary United goalkeeper, reacted with lightning-quick reflexes, diving to his left in an attempt to block the shot. However, unknown to him, Kofi Owusu's curving shot was actually a cleverly disguised pass, intended for the Fire Milan striker, Rossi Lorenzo.

Rossi, anticipating the pass, had made a perfectly timed run into the box, finding himself in the ideal position to receive the ball. With the tip of his boot, he expertly changed the course of the ball, deflecting it past the outstretched glove of Shawn Lucius and into the back of the net.

The Fire Milan players erupted into jubilation as the stadium's scoreboard lit up, displaying the updated score: Fire Milan 1, Devertary United 0. The time on the clock read 20 minutes and 45 seconds, and the Fire Milan fans were ecstatic, sensing that their team was gaining momentum.

Rossi Lorenzo, basking in the adoration of the crowd, celebrated his goal with his teammates, while Shawn Lucius could only shake his head, realizing too late that he had been outsmarted by Kofi Owusu's cunning pass.

Ryan Shark, seated on the sidelines, watched intently as the match unfolded before him. His eyes narrowed as he saw Fire Milan score, and his frustration grew. He couldn't just sit there and do nothing.

Shark sprang to his feet, his eyes locked on Molis Harrison, the team coach. He strode purposefully towards Molis, his voice low and urgent.

"Molis, I need to get in there. I'm ready to play." Shark's eyes blazed with determination, but Molis' expression was firm.

"Shark, I know you're eager, but you're not ready. You've recovered from your injury, but your muscles aren't yet in the right state for a match. I won't risk you sustaining a severe injury, especially at the beginning of your career in the La Rima League." Molis' voice was laced with concern, but Shark's face twisted in anger.

Shark spun on his heel, his fists clenched, and stormed back to his seat. He was seething, feeling like he was being held back. Just as he was about to explode, a hand touched his shoulder.

"Hey, Shark, calm down," Daniel Chris, the team's midfielder, said softly. "Trust Molis' decision. He's looking out for you, and he knows what's best for the team." Daniel's voice was soothing, and Shark slowly began to relax, his anger dissipating.

Shark took a deep breath, his eyes still fixed on the match, but his mind beginning to clear. He knew Daniel was right; Molis had his best interests at heart. Shark's gaze lingered on the pitch, his determination burning brighter than ever. He would get his chance, and when he did, he would be ready.
