"The key to this jutsu is rotation."
In Training Ground Twelve, Minato was demonstrating the Rasengan technique to Takeshi and the others.
Not far away, Kushina sat with a soft smile on her lips, gazing at Minato with deep affection in her eyes.
This was a jutsu Minato had created for her—it was a testament to their love.
"Rotate and compress chakra, then condense it into a sphere. That is the Rasengan."
He slammed the Rasengan into a nearby practice dummy, instantly shattering it with overwhelming force.
"Now, you three try it for yourselves."
After giving them a few important tips, Minato walked over to where Kushina was seated and joined her in observing the training.
"Who do you think will be the first to master this jutsu?"
Leaning in close to Minato, Kushina asked with a smile.
"Hmm, probably Takeshi. That kid really does have a gift for learning jutsu."
Minato gave it a moment's thought, recalling how each of them usually performed, then confidently named Takeshi.
"Mm-hmm, he's also your strongest rival on the path to becoming Hokage." Kushina gave a meaningful look.
Takeshi was deep in thought, carefully analyzing Minato's words.
Rotation. Compression.
Minato's explanation was far easier to grasp than the abstract nonsense his unborn son would someday invent.
Who did Naruto even inherit that from? Somehow he managed to turn a simple jutsu into a convoluted mess.
But even more impressive was Konohamaru—he actually managed to learn the Rasengan based on that description. The Sarutobi clan really did live up to their genius reputation.
Rotate. Rotate. Rotate...
Huh?
Staring at the round blade of chakra forming in his palm, Takeshi suddenly had a bold idea.
Wind chakra is sharp—meant for cutting.
When wind nature is added to the Rasengan, it evolves into Wind Release: Rasenshuriken, combining sharpness and high destructive power. It becomes one of the defining jutsu of the entire Naruto series.
But what if... only the sharpness was preserved?
Takeshi increased his chakra output, infusing it with wind-nature transformation.
A piercing buzz filled the air. Obito, who still hadn't grasped the basics of the Rasengan, was immediately drawn over by the noise.
"Hey, Takeshi, why's your Rasengan all flat?"
Obito eyed the odd new technique in Takeshi's hand with curiosity.
Takeshi ignored him, focusing entirely on maintaining the shape of the spinning wind wheel in his palm.
"That's not even a Rasengan anymore, is it?"
Kushina blinked, visibly confused.
"Looks like it."
Minato rose from the bench and instinctively took a few steps toward Takeshi.
After a few more minutes, Takeshi felt the high-speed spinning wind blade had stabilized. He turned his gaze toward the second dummy in the distance.
He charged forward and pressed the spinning blade against the dummy's neck—instantly slicing it clean in half.
Even after severing the dummy, the blade in his hand didn't stop spinning. It kept rotating at high speed until Takeshi finally cut off his chakra flow, and only then did the wind blade gradually fade away.
"Not a bad jutsu at all. If combined with Flying Thunder God, its power could rival the Rasengan." Minato appeared at just the right moment and gave his evaluation:
"If you can stabilize its shape... you might even be able to throw it for ranged attacks. Hmm..."
Minato suddenly paused, a contemplative look appearing on his face.
If wind-nature transformation was added to the Rasengan, could it produce a similar result?
"For ranged attacks, ordinary Wind Release should be enough, right?"
Seeing Minato fall silent, Obito blurted out his own opinion.
"Idiot. The advantage of Rasengan and this wind blade isn't just in destructive power. It's that you don't need to form hand seals—it can catch opponents off guard." Kakashi, as usual, jabbed at Obito with his sharp tongue.
"Hmm... very interesting. Takeshi, let me help you refine this jutsu."
Feeling the idea of adding wind transformation to the Rasengan was worth pursuing, Minato ruffled Obito's hair—who was pouting from Kakashi's jab—but kept his eyes fixed on Takeshi.
He wanted to use this opportunity to explore the possibility of adding nature transformation to the Rasengan ahead of time.
"Anyway, let's give this new jutsu a name. How about... Wind-Cutting Training Ground Friendship Bond Wheel—"
"Let's call it Eightfold Light Wheel!" Takeshi cut him off, choosing to copy the name from a homework assignment—it rolled off the tongue better.
He didn't want to kill enemies by making them laugh themselves to death on the battlefield.
"Uh... is that so? That's... a pretty short name..." Minato was clearly not thrilled, but since Takeshi was the jutsu's creator, he had no choice but to go along with it.
...
Time passed quickly, and the day came for Kushina's relocation.
Led by Biwako, with Takeshi providing escort, the group set off along the road leading out of the village, toward a cave that had been prepared in advance for Kushina.
On the way, they ran into Mikoto, who was holding Sasuke and walking with Itachi.
Ever since Sasuke's birth, Itachi—once a brooding philosopher pondering the meaning of life—had given his brain a break and devoted himself entirely to caring for his adorable little brother.
"Is that your daughter? She's so cute."
Seeing Mikoto cradling a baby, Kushina lit up with excitement and struck up a conversation.
But when she learned the baby was a boy, she looked a little disappointed.
"If only it were a girl... then we could set up a childhood engagement."
...
That comment made Takeshi, who was teasing Itachi nearby, almost twist the boy's face a little too hard.
"Haha, what are you saying, Kushina? How are you so sure you're having a boy?" Mikoto chuckled, covering her mouth.
"It's definitely a boy. I can feel it." Kushina rubbed her belly, full of confidence.
"That must really hurt though, huh... giving birth and all..." Kushina leaned in toward Mikoto, looking genuinely scared.
Mikoto was stunned. It was the first time she had seen Kushina afraid of anything.
Their conversation was soon cut short as Biwako came over and forcibly dragged Kushina away.
Takeshi let go of Itachi's squishy cheeks and waved goodbye to the group.
"It's about to begin."
Back in the Sarutobi household, only Hiruzen Sarutobi remained.
The elite Anbu in charge of his protection had already been dispatched to Kushina's location, and Minato—at Takeshi's strong insistence—had taken Kakashi and Obito to the site as well.
"Let's hope everything goes smoothly."
Lighting his pipe, Hiruzen exhaled a puff of smoke, his expression grave.
Minato, the elite Anbu, and Takeshi—who was also a Jinchūriki. Everything seemed foolproof.
...
"Hello, the Jinchūriki has departed."
Elsewhere, in the cave, Setsuna and Yōwan had already received word.
"Let's go. Time for Konoha to experience the power of the Uchiha, Enforcer."
Donning his mask, Setsuna—despite his reluctance—chose to respect Uchiha Madara's wishes.
"From this moment on, you are Uchiha Madara."
Without a word, Yōwan placed the mask over his face.
