Chapter 8 - Death.

In an instant, the knife is thrust forward, slicing through the air with a deadly precision. I feel a sharp pain as the blade pierces my skin, a searing heat that radiates outward, mingling with the cold grip of shock. The world around me fades, the edges of my vision blurring as the reality of the moment sinks in.

I gasp, a strangled sound escaping my lips as I stagger back, my body instinctively trying to retreat from the source of pain. But she is relentless, this isn't my grandmother, this isn't like Nana at all. The knife glimmers ominously, a harbinger of the finality that awaits.

As the blade plunges deeper, a rush of warmth spreads through me, the metallic taste of blood filling my mouth.I can feel my strength waning, the world around me dimming as darkness encroaches at the edges of my vision. The cacophony of my racing heart begins to fade, replaced by a haunting silence that envelops me like a shroud.

In those final moments, time stretches and warps, and I find myself suspended between life and the abyss. Memories flash before my eyes, laughter, love, fleeting moments of joy, each one a reminder of what I am about to lose. The pain is sharp, but it is the realization of my impending fate that cuts deeper, a profound sense of loss that transcends the physical.

As I sink to the ground, the cold floor pressing against my back, I feel the warmth of my life ebbing away, a slow, inevitable retreat into darkness. Nana looms above me, her expression unreadable, and in that moment, I understand that this is not just an end, but a final severing of ties to the world I once knew.

The darkness envelops me completely, a quiet embrace that pulls me under, and as my consciousness fades, I am left with a haunting stillness, the echoes of my existence lingering in the void. Before I knew it, I took my final breath, my eyes fluttered shut and my heartbeat stopped. This is it, I became one of the many spirits that lingers throughout Dakota Mansion, another victim of the inevitable death this mansion holds.
