Qi Shanshan finally straightened up after completely bandaging Li Weiyi's wrist. As she set down the scissors, she said, "I ate her!"

Qin Ke, standing behind her, was startled.

Lately, she'd often heard research team members discussing how their food supplies were dwindling rapidly, and that cannibalism might become a horrifying reality in the future.

Qi Shanshan turned around and glared at Li Weiyi, who was sitting calmly and watching her.

"All you care about is Senior Sister Cai," she said with a touch of annoyance, "I'm almost jealous! Don't worry, she's perfectly safe."

Of course, she knew Li Weiyi hadn't asked casually.

He was testing her.

So she answered seriously, adding, "None of you have any insight. A few days ago, I noticed Xie Tianshu and Kong Fan meeting frequently. This morning, after the Nethercloud dispersed, while you were all studying ancient characters, those two snuck into the kitchen."

"I didn't dare follow them, and I couldn't be sure what they were up to, but I knew something was wrong. To be safe, I pulled Yutong aside to hide."

"It's best if nothing happened. But if something did, at least we could hide first."

Li Weiyi didn't detect any flaws in Qi Shanshan's expression or tone. Her response was flawless.

He quickly stood up, forcing a smile, "Don't take it so seriously. It feels like I'm interrogating you."

"Aren't you interrogating me?" Qi Shanshan retorted, her expression turning slightly angry as she walked out of the medical tent.

Li Weiyi followed her, intending to apologize.

After all, she saved half of his life when the Bronze Ship crashed.

And during the earlier confrontation with Laboratory 705, if she hadn't thrown her cross pendant to help, it was hard to say whether he or Han Qin would have died.

Suddenly, Qi Shanshan turned around, colliding head-on with Li Weiyi, who had caught up to her: "Ouch!" she cried out, her brow furrowing as she playfully slapped his chest, "Why were you walking so fast? You hurt me!"

"I still need to talk to you. Your Senior Brother's injuries are severe. His arm and knee bones are shattered, and his blood vessels and nerves are badly damaged. Given the current medical conditions on this ship... you should prepare yourself. Even if he survives, he might be bedridden for life."

Even with Warm Fragrant Jade nestled in his arms, and the other person showing no intention of leaving. Li Weiyi felt no desire to leave.

He immediately turned back to the medical tent, channeling the Scorching Qi Flow from the sole of his right foot to his palm, intending to inject it into his Senior Brother's wound.

But as he pressed his hand against the wound, he stopped.

The Scorching Qi Flow could only flow through the Silver Veins. His Senior Brother had no such veins within his body. Injecting the Qi Flow would likely cause further harm, like a palm strike landing on his Senior Brother's chest.

"Senior Brother has also studied the Jade Void (Yuxu) Breathing Technique. If he wakes up and continues practicing it, perhaps he can cultivate that mysterious Scorching Qi Flow himself. But..."

"With his legs shattered like this, can his soles still generate the Scorching Qi Flow?"

Li Weiyi felt a crushing weight on his chest, as if a thousand-pound boulder were pressing down.

A torrent of thoughts flooded his mind: perhaps giving his Senior Brother Black Dragon Blood might heal his injuries.

But remembering Xie Tianshu's monstrous appearance, he couldn't bring himself to make such a decision for his Senior Brother.

Just then...

From the bow of the ship, a woman's faint singing drifted through the air:

"A wide river flows with gentle waves,

Fragrant rice blossoms scent the banks.

My home lies on the shore,

I'm used to the boatmen's calls,

And the white sails dancing on the waves..."

....

Who's singing?

Li Weiyi and Qi Shanshan exchanged bewildered glances.

Qin Ke suddenly realized something: "It's Liu Ying! We looked for her earlier, but couldn't find her. We all assumed she'd fled into the Nethermist Graveyard..."

"This is bad."

Li Weiyi and Qi Shanshan immediately rushed out of the medical tent, one after the other.

Liu Ying was wrapped in a filthy blanket, sitting on the bulwark at the bow of the ship with her legs dangling in the air.

Her face, legs, and the shoulders and arms exposed beyond the blanket were covered in bruises and scars.

Her eyes held a hollow despair, filled with memories of home, her parents, and the stable, law-abiding environment she had once known.

Tears streamed down her cheeks, and the sea wind whipped her long hair around her face as her mournful song grew hoarser and deeper, until she was almost whispering the lyrics: "Everywhere... there is... the sunshine of peace..."

Footsteps pounded behind her.

Without hesitation, she jumped.

Li Weiyi witnessed it firsthand, standing only a dozen steps away.

But the bulwark was already deserted.

Qi Shanshan and Qin Ke arrived, panting.

Qin Ke rushed to the edge but dared not look down.

She could only imagine Liu Ying being devoured by the vengeful spirits swimming in the sea.

Tears streamed down her face like rain.

Qi Shanshan walked over to comfort her.

"After what happened, how could she live? It's alright, don't be afraid. With Wei Yi here, nothing like that will ever happen again on this ship. He'll protect us."

Li Weiyi's heart was heavy with grief and rage.

He gripped his longsword and silently strode toward the Graveyard Forest, shrouded in Nether Mist.

Passing by the dying Chen Hong, he abandoned his plan to let his Senior Brother exact revenge.

With a single punch, he pierced Chen Hong's chest, then lifted the body and tossed it into the sea like a piece of trash.

Are they even human?

They are worse than trash.

....

Besides Xie Jin, the other four who had escaped were all captured in the Graveyard Forest.

One buried himself in the grave soil, leaving only his mouth and nose exposed.

But his breathing and heartbeat were still detectable.

As long as Li Weiyi was close enough, his hearing wouldn't miss it.

When they learned that Liu Ying had jumped into the sea, Gao Huan and Professor Xu's students beat the two Security Team members who had bullied her to within an inch of their lives.

Finally, in a surge of collective fury, they pushed them into the Soul Sea.

Faintly, Li Weiyi heard the sound of a Camel Bell in the Graveyard Forest again.

He immediately began practicing the Jade Void (Yuxu) Breathing Technique to clear his mind and regain clarity.

A deep sense of confusion arose within him.

As for the other two, they naturally received a severe beating as well.

But they weren't thrown into the Soul Sea.

Someone suggested using them for experiments.

After Xie Tianshu's Black Dragon-like Aberration, though his appearance had become grotesque and terrifying, he had gained genuine extraordinary power.

Perhaps he could now live for a century or even several centuries, like the legendary demons of old.

Compared to extraordinary power and longevity, what did it matter if he sacrificed his normal human appearance?

The strong never worried about their appearance.

Li Weiyi didn't object.

He shared Zhao Meng's view.

Once a person bares their fangs, they cease to be human!

This wasn't a case of a dragon slayer becoming a dragon.

It meant that when facing enemies, one couldn't afford to show the slightest mercy or compassion.

They wouldn't appreciate it; they would only harbor resentment, waiting for you to weaken before ensuring you had no place to be buried.

Moreover, Li Weiyi wanted to use the Black Dragon Blood in experiments to determine if there was any possibility of saving his Senior Brother.

.....

So much had happened in a single day.

After disposing all the bodies - either by burial at sea or proper burial - everyone was utterly exhausted.

At first, no one could sleep. They lit a bonfire and huddled together, fearing another outbreak of chaos.

Moreover, Xie Jin remained missing, like a thorn lodged in their flesh, leaving them uneasy.

But by the second half of the night, fatigue finally overcame them. Except for the two on watch, everyone else collapsed around the fire and fell asleep.

Li Weiyi wandered alone to the far end of the Bronze Ship, beneath the carcass of the Black Dragon.

With his left thumb adorned with the Dragon-Patterned Ring, he touched the congealed, purplish-red ice crystals of the Black Dragon's blood at the severed wound.

In an instant, frost formed on his finger.

The Dragon-Patterned Ring reacted as expected, its dragon scale patterns faintly glowing.

After Xie Tianshu underwent his Black Dragon-like Aberration, his first words were: "This severed arm is your doing. Neither the Black Dragon Blood nor the Dragon-Patterned Ring can restore it."

At this time, Li Weiyi already suspected that his ability to transform into a demon through aberration was due to the Dragon-Patterned Ring.

That afternoon, the experiments on the two research team members confirmed his suspicion.

The first member, who wasn't wearing the Dragon-Patterned Ring, drank the Black Dragon Blood.

His skin quickly burst open, and he died from excessive blood loss.

The second member, wearing the Dragon-Patterned Ring, drank the Black Dragon Blood and survived.

When he soaked the ring in his blood, he began to undergo a Black Dragon-like Aberration.

Of course, no one dared to let him fully transform into a demon.

Just before the transformation was complete, they immediately removed the Dragon-Patterned Ring.

The interrupted aberration resulted in an even more gruesome death than the first experiment.

His flesh and blood exploded almost entirely.

"No matter what, this is still a way to save Senior Brother," Li Weiyi murmured.

The Nether Mist swirled gently.

The vast sea of tombstones and steles before him, illuminated by the distant Golden Crow's corpse, exuded an eerie stillness.

A familiar scent of perfume drifted on the wind.

Li Weiyi's sense of smell, though not as exaggerated as the Ghost Bear Emperor's, was far beyond that of an ordinary person.

He knew who was coming!

Waiting here meant waiting for her.

Li Weiyi silently hid behind the massive corpse of the Black Dragon.

Gradually, light footsteps approached.

A tall, slender figure passed the Black Dragon's remains and hurried toward the Nine-Tiered Ship Tower.

Li Weiyi emerged from the shadows and looked.

The familiar, graceful silhouette had already entered the narrow passage between the ship's tower and the bulwark, heading toward the stern.

The passage, ten feet wide, was lined with numerous stone figures of various expressions. The Nether Mist swirling around them added to the eerie atmosphere, but Qi Shanshan moved through it fearlessly and with ease.

On the first level of the ship's tower, all the cabin doors were cast in bronze, over ten feet tall. Their weight was unimaginable, far beyond human strength to push open.

Halfway down the passage, the Nether Mist gradually dissipated, replaced by a hazy, ethereal Immortal Radiance.

The Bronze Ship, which had resembled a ghostly vessel of the dead, seemed to transform before his eyes, becoming a celestial jade palace barge.

The stern and the bow were now worlds apart.
