Chapter 3 - Unnamed

---

Scene 1: The Scorched Hall of Trials

The gates of the Flame Lord Sect close behind Yīnghuǒ with a heavy echo, as though sealing him from the world he once knew. The air inside the sect is stifling—thick with heat, memory, and something ancient, lurking behind the fire-lit stone corridors.

Yīnghuǒ follows a disciple through winding halls until he is brought to a circular chamber—The Scorched Hall of Trials, where new initiates are assessed further. The walls are adorned with fire-forged relics and paintings of past wielders: some with serene eyes, others with torment carved into their faces.

There are only four others who survived the Scarlet Trial. Among them is Zhu Lián, her brother's ashes still clutched in a small urn. She does not cry—but the flame in her eyes has changed. Hardened.

> Zhu Lián (coldly):

"He gave everything... for nothing. This sect better be worth his sacrifice."

Yīnghuǒ looks at her, understanding her grief. But he says nothing. Words feel empty.

A robed elder appears—a Flame Evaluator, his body covered in burns and scars that pulse with faint light.

> Flame Evaluator:

"Only three will be chosen for the inner sanctum. One will be expelled. One... may not survive what comes next."

---

Scene 2: The Inner Flame Synchronization

Each initiate is led into a sealed chamber to undergo a sacred process: Flame Synchronization—a ritual that binds the cultivator's soul more deeply with the Immortal Flame Sutra.

As Yīnghuǒ steps into the flame-forged chamber, he finds a circular platform surrounded by floating embers, each containing the consciousness of former flame wielders. The ritual begins as the embers swirl around him, trying to invade his soul—testing his conviction, purity, and purpose.

Visions begin again—this time more vivid. The voice of Flame Queen Mo Zhi speaks directly to him, her tone both regal and mournful.

> Mo Zhi's Echo:

"You carry our legacy... but you are not yet one of us. What do you burn for, Yīnghuǒ?"

He stares into the fire, seeing flashes of:

His village destroyed

The girl he saved

Zhu Yǐn's sacrifice

The Wyrms rising from flame

> Yīnghuǒ (clenching his fists):

"I burn... to protect. Even if it means burning myself to ash."

The flames surge, and the embers enter his body. His flame veins glow violently—but this time, he does not scream. He accepts them.

---

Scene 3: The Arrival of the Crimson Envoy

Just as the ritual ends, a loud bell tolls through the sect. Elders rush outside, and the air turns tense.

A Crimson Envoy from the imperial Celestial Flame Court arrives—his robes crimson and black, trailing molten sparks as he floats through the air on a burning disc. His eyes scan the disciples like prey.

> Crimson Envoy:

"A warning has come from the skies. The fire you harbor is not yours alone. A new Anomaly has been detected in the Lower Realm. One that echoes the chaos of the Flame Rebellion."

He looks directly at Yīnghuǒ.

> Crimson Envoy:

"Your synchronization rate... is unnatural. Be wary, Flame Lord Sect. The Immortal Flame may have chosen a vessel too soon."

Yīnghuǒ feels something inside him stir, like an ancient hunger awakened.

---

Scene 4: Zhu Lián's Fury & the Shadow Flame

That night, Yīnghuǒ finds Zhu Lián meditating by a sacred fire. But instead of peace, her flames rage uncontrollably, almost dark in hue. The loss of her brother has unbalanced her soul flame.

> Zhu Lián (crying out):

"They said he died for honor—but all I have is ash! If this sect won't help me avenge him… I'll do it myself!"

The flames begin to twist unnaturally, forming claws and wings. Yīnghuǒ realizes in horror that she is awakening the Shadow Flame—a forbidden offshoot of the Sutra, one born of grief and vengeance.

> Yīnghuǒ (stepping forward):

"Don't let grief turn your flame into a weapon against yourself."

She lashes out, the dark fire singeing his robes—but Yīnghuǒ does not flinch. He channels his Pure Flame Pulse, stabilizing her fire with his own.

They collapse together—exhausted.

> Zhu Lián (softly):

"Why do you care?"

> Yīnghuǒ (quietly):

"Because I saw what happens when someone's left alone with the fire too long."

---

Scene 5: The Map Beneath the Fire Altar

Later, summoned by the Sect Master, Yīnghuǒ is shown a secret chamber beneath the grand hall: The Vault of Eternal Embers.

Inside is a sealed Flame Map, an ancient relic that only reveals itself to a synced wielder of the Immortal Flame Sutra.

As he places his hand on the altar, the flames surge and a floating map appears—burning across the sky like living fire. It reveals seven sealed flame relics across the realm—each needed to fully awaken the Sutra.

But more alarming is a second symbol—marked in deep red. A tear in the sky, from where the Crimson Envoy says the Anomaly was seen.

> Sect Master (gravely):

"This... is what we feared. The sky burns not from prophecy... but from something trying to break through."

---

Scene 6: Decision Under the Ash Moon

Yīnghuǒ returns to his quarters, staring at the ash-covered sky from the window slit. The moon is hidden behind clouds, glowing faintly red.

He thinks of the path ahead: the relics, the truth of the Sutra, the danger Zhu Lián is falling into, and the shadows stirring across the land.

He is no longer just a survivor. No longer a mere cultivator. He is a Flame Bearer, holding a legacy that may burn the world—or save it.

> Yīnghuǒ (to himself):

"I have no master. No prophecy. Only the fire… and the choice to burn with it—or shape it."

The flames flicker around him… and for the first time, they bow.
